  • Sorry, I wanted to say that 1990-1992 is mark V. misspelled .

  • You can buy the DVD 'Phoenix Rising' if you want the sound of this track in better quality !

  • @oberfour1 No.

  • ¿ Phoenix Rising ?

  • @oberfour1 What do you know about guitar ? Nothing...

  • Why does Last Concert in Japan even exist when there was material like this available. In Last Concert in Japan Tommy sounds virtually none existent, but what I hear here is actually quite listenable and a little innovative.

  • Blackmore was in Mk III from '73-'75 --- Bolin was in Mk IV from '75-'76.

  • bom demais Purpleeeeeeee!!

  • deep purple forever rosks

  • Este video no corresponde a la cancion, no sean truchos!!!!!!!

  • @TheErotomano Si, es 'Stormbringer', pero en otro concerto.

  • it is mrk V not mrk IV since blackmore was in IV

  • @jackstroem1324 Mark V is Blackmore/Turner/Glover/Lord/Paice. Mark IV is Bolin/Coverdale/Hughes/Lord/Paice

  • @titustiti Actually, he is right. Mark VI is Blackmore/Turner/Glover/Lord/Paice. This is mark IV.

  • @Purplesnake41 No, Blackmore/Turner/Glover/Lord/Paice is MARK V. You can go on Wikipedia if you want to verify ;)

  • love a lot this Bolin version as any deep purple Bolin's song version...live in california 1976 is the best live album ever after MIJ...

  • Whole band is on fire except Bolin is just too weak on the riff and leads.

  • After hearing many bootlegs and videos, I can judge that Tommy Bolin was only 'on fire' and 'comfortable' when playing "Lazy" and "Stormbringer" - and to a lesser "Highway Star"

Unfortunately "Burn" and "Smoke on the Water", both of them perhaps the biggest hit from Mk2 and Mk3, Tommy Bolin never really put all of his hearts for the live performance. Dunno why, but many times he played the riff very sloopy and the solos were below par for Bolin' standards let alone Blackmore's standards..

  • progg rock at its best

  • Buen montanje

  • ha, Coverdale is trying to sound like Plant after Lord's instrumental

  • @DmitryMatveyev not Plant...Steve Marriot at least...Coverdale is a better singer than Plant in my opinion...better vocal tone and probably wider vocal range...

  • Deep Purple/Whitesnake Forever, DAVID COVERDALE!!!!!!!

  • Good live version even though Bolin, as usual, refuses to play Blackmore's solos!

  • @pteeng1 he can't

  • i love that song very much i give em fucking 10

  • I hear a little "Slippin' Away" by Sabbath in this.

  • Listen to my video of 'Strange kind of woman' on my channel

  • It's a very rare original clip !

  • hughes should really shut the f*ck up, god i hate that screeching poser...

  • @gietek Hughes is an as good screamer as Gillan on this song... Listen to Gillan : in many songs he screams too, and it's screeching ! ;) And I love it. Don't you ?

  • @titustiti Absolutely! I love Gillan - he has a great deep and versatile voice. Hughes on the other hand sounds like he's been stuck in a meat mincer and his balls are just about to be processed.

  • @gietek my father would agree with you 100% sure :""D

  • It's a stormy song.

  • @Laszlo58100 Yes, and it rocks !

  • It´s a pity the poor quality of the record. But the sound, oh!

    Mk-IV on his best.

  • @mrjohn1964 Yes, I know... It's a pitty the video isn't complete. But I agree with you : it's MK IV (and perhaps DP) at his best ! Bolin is as good as Blackmore (it's rare on a Live record), and all the band (particulary Paice and Lord) are really awesome, with a lot of energy and virtuosity !

  • Mad song...& actually the best track on the Stormbringer studio album. Blackmore is one of my favourite guitarists, seeing him live in the 1970s would have been superb but I can understand the sentiments expressed by MegaBob77777 below. I agree that Mr.Hughes had a much better live presence. Not to mention in the Live in California '74 video, he serves as a great perve in his white flared suit. Sorry, just thought I'd throw that in.

  • is that ian doing backing vocals

  • @acdcironmaiden96 Its Glenn Hughes

  • my 8 yo boy plays this song on drums

check it out on channel of user road2000ster

  • Wow, these guys suck live

  • When he was sober, Bolin was incredible.

  • I think Deep Purple played Wembley in 1976 and reckon it is from that show.

  • I was lucky enough to see DP twice, 74 and 76. Once with Blackmore and Bolin. While Ritchie was awesome, his stage prescence sucked. He'd keep his back to the crowd most of the nite, and he wouldnt let any other band member in his space on stage.Thats why he was always off by himself. Guy had some issues man. Bolin may not have been Ritchie talentwise, but he was great onstage, and was a team player.Hughes was great too, he really kept things going. DP is timeless, they are Real Rock n Roll!

  • @MegaBob77777 Interesting... I saw them once in '72, and don't recall that Blackmore turned his back to the audience while playing, except two or three times briefly, to adjust his amp, or for feedback. Sometimes he would turn to the side to look across at Glover, Paice or Lord for cues... but otherwise he was face forward during the entire performance. I did notice that he often watched what he was doing on his fret board. In any case, I'm fortunate to have seen them live at their zenith.

  • one of the greatest solo guitars in history of rock

  • In my opinion i think van canto's cover of this song completely outdoes this original.

  • Tommy Bolin was great guitar player! I like his version of Stormbringer. But I`m a MRK2 fanatic. I like Hughes and Coverdale but Glover and Gillan was more better!!!

  • excellent bon son !!!

  • I`m also a MRK1 fanatic. A bit against the grain. All three MRK1 albums were excellent.

  • Nothing Deep Purple has ever done without Blackmore sounds right.

God bless Tommy Bolin. Nobody can replace Ritchie Blackmore!

Gods gift to the guitar Ritchie Blackmore.

  • @oberfour1 I totally agree with your comments. I like to add that although tommy was much less skilled than ritchie he still kept the essence of the band. s.morse is perhaps more skilled than ritchie but morse can't keep the essence of the music, he's totally boring and a freezed player .. tommy was great, played with his heart, i respect him for his writing and playing .. morse awfull .. ritchie ( of course) THE BEST !!!!

  • @blackmoremaniac

I truely believe Steve Morse should pick up a Stratocaster. His sreaching pitchy guitar sounds like shit.

I don`t know who the most skilled guitar player is? I do know that sound, vibe, whatever its is ? Ritchie Blackmore has the magic.

A great Guitar player from the band Testament is Alex Sckolnick. Just saying I`ve heard many Guitar players.

Ritchie Blackmore is better than Jimi Hendrix in my book.

Just listen to the guitar on The temple of the king Blackmores` Rainb.

  • @oberfour1

I what add that on The Temple of the king the sound of the guitar is just beautiful the timing everything perfect.

There will never be another Ritchie Blackmore.

  • @oberfour1 ref I truely believe Steve Morse should pick up a Stratocaster. His sreaching pitchy guitar sounds like shit. .. I would say Morse should PICK UP HIS GUITAR AN LEAVE ... by the way if he could take Gillan with him it would be great, ... nothing against Gillan but DP nowadays (IMO) sounds like I.Gillan Band. The man has become a clown. He was excellent till Perfect Strangers .. I don't care if can't sing (I can accept that for his age) but the problem is his brain ...

  • @blackmoremaniac Though i dont agree with you i would give anything to see my favourite line up mk3 for one time live.

  • @blackmoremaniac

The SM tone is 'airbrushed' and he seems unable to get the essence of basic hard rock. At least Bolin knew how to keep it raw and biting.

  • WHAT SHOW IS THIS? it seems the video version of live album' on the wings of arussian foxtrat, live california 1976'....the video is orignally taken from that show?

  • @nazzare79 You're right for the audio. I don't know where the video si taken from. Sorry.

  • @titustiti I dont get it Purple has so many things to release in dvd but they dont.I know 2 shows from mark 2 in the 80s.One from 85 the other from 87.BOTH AWESOME.2 with Bolin one will be released this summer along with Made in Japan. One from London in 74 with mark 3.I hope this shows will be remastered and released sometime because they are diamonds for me.

    LONG LIVE DEEP PURPLE

  • @77elvistheking OK, thank you ! I'll probably buy them !

  • @titustiti Honolulu, Hawaii 1975 November 2 (Tommy Bolin's first show with deep purple)

  • @shotguy1 Thank you Shotguy !

  • @nazzare79 this record is the concert "last concert" rise over Budokan in 76

  • @sirpacha I doubt it, because at that concert in the Budokan, Bolin could`nt play properly after the incident with "falling a sleep" on his hand.

Listen to the miserable guitar play on "last concert" and this concert... A difference from

    night & day!

  • @nazzare79 The video is from Japan 75 but the audio is from Long Beach CA 76

  • Greate Tommy Bolin!

  • bolin forever

  • love the way tommy bolin plays the song his own style

  • Sounds like a Hendrix riff. Amazing solo by Bolin.

  • Stormbringer cumming..... Time to Dieeeee!!!

  • DP was best at mk.II by far. The Stormbringer album was basically the only non MK.II album that was anywhere close to the classics like machinehead. Of course gillan cant sing like he used to but hes at least in his 60s what do you expect but in his prime he was the best DP vocalist. Just my opinion though

  • @D34d1y1 Opinions can be so damn diferent cause Burn is my favourite album!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @D34d1y1 I respectfully disagree. I think the first outing of the Mark III line-up 'Burn' is by far their best effort and the only one that can compete quality-wise with the famous Mark II triple 'In Rock', 'Fireball' and 'Machine Head'. And though it falls slightly short of the aforementioned albums' brilliance it's far superior to its lackluster predecessor 'Who Do...'.

And Bolin was an accomplished guitarist - but not in the same league as Blackmore with his fiery but melodic way of playing.

  • Coverdale has the greatest voice in all the history of rock'n'roll

  • @Lukkke14 not only Coverdale, Dio also!!

  • @Lukkke14

    And THAT's a FACT!!!!!

  • Coverdale has the greatest voice in all the history of rock'n'roll

  • I think Gillan can still sing well

  • coverdale looks so different

  • tommy bolin was surly the better human in sozal way,but hey, nobody can top blackmore,,fuk i hate stve fuking asswhole morse,,bolin was an great guitar player also in jazz,RIP,

  • Hard to top Blackmore, but that solo was excellent and superbly executed.

  • @deloreans I agree with you !!!

  • Very good version of stormbringer. Man, this Bolin solo was amazing, wouhhh. Fuckings drugs taking this guy from us.

  • can someone upload this video with its proper audio , please? :)

  • @GOSHOLOSHO I think it's impossible because it's an extract from an incomplete video. But I maybe wrong...

  • the guitar player is not blackmore!!!! is he?

  • @lefterisibanez It's Tommy Bolin !

  • I think this is from Live in Jakarta December 1976 before they gone to Japan

  • I can hear where Guns n' Roses got it from - the verses are 'Paradise City'

  • coverdale owns all

  • is it me or do the audio and video dont match...?

  • The best Stormbringer version!!!

  • exelent

  • oh this rocks so much

  • Greatest groove in the history of music.

  • Ian Paice in the best drummer of the 70's

    R.I.P. Tommy Bolin

  • Check out my profile for cover of deep purple and other good bands!!

  • it'snot on the "last concert in japan"album..

  • @tariksba Nobody told this... It's on 'Live at Long Beach' (1976)

  • @titustiti ah,OK ,audio from long beach and video from Japan,i understand now...

  • @tariksba ......its on the updated version of 'last concert......' ,the same tokyo show-and is called 'this time around'......not quite as good as long beach, but still pretty good.....

  • it's the first time that i hear the guitar solo....

  • @tariksba And ?...

  • Ian Paice > > > Jonh Bonham

    nada mais a declarar...

  • Ian Paice > > > Jonh Bonham

    nada mais a declarar...

  • My favorite Deep Purple song of all-time, that bass riff ROCKS! Great guitar solos too.

  • @titustiti NO SEA PENDEJO MIJO!!!!!!

  • @sektaskap Sorry, but I don't comprendo. Can you por favor hablar français or english ?

  • dont fuck around arguing about music's most unsung hero...and this was barely 75.

rip bolin thanks for posting the footage... never seen before.

  • Theres no such thing as irreplacible unless it`s Ritchie Blackmores` position.

  • in 76 I wasnt even aware dp was still together

  • Deep Purple !! <3

  • Comment removed

  • Hate when the keyboards are buried in the mix.

  • this line up-when they were on form(auckland/foxbat/miami....etc) were better than the purple of today......the songs nowadays are written to fit gillan's voice-banana's wouldn't even have made it as a gillan album-in the '80's.

  • Why is this song so underrater? The only good live versions are this one and the one where Whitesnake performs it combined with Burn (although they played only first part, it still sounds awesome).

  • @cw3le I think it's because 'Stormbringer' album is the last with Ritchie before 84 reunion. On 'Made in Europe' there is another version and it is great, I think (I didn't listen to it for a long time). I'm happy you enjoy this Mark IV version ! Don't forget to buy it !

  • again, thank you titusiti for posting this.. it's great.. I listen to this often !

  • @leppardsnake Thanks to you ! And don't forget to buy this record !

  • Thank you very much for this, Titustiti.

Bolin plays it with a slight hint different from Blackmore´s but I love it too.

It sounds as Coverdale probably wrote it , before coming Blackmore (the stormbringer of the song) to add some more chords at the refrain.

The lyrics are a personal attack from Coverdale against Blackmore, the one that always brung storm into the band ...

  • for me DP 's MK3 and MK4

i hate ian gillan very much(Idontlike his voice 's like woman sreaming)

  • @Kingdelfrong Gillan voice was awesome in the 70's, but now he sucks... David and Glenn still rock ! WE WANT MARK III REUNION !!!

  • @titustiti yAAAA!

  • @titustiti

Hahaha, dream on! Coverdale had to cancel Whitesnake's tour last year, because his voice was completly shot. Glenn Hughes plays crappy soul and funk. I'd rather hear Gillan struggle through 'Speed King', 'Highway Star' etc. and hear him sing still fairly good renditions of 'Lazy', 'When A Blind Man Cries' and 'Black Night' than to let Glenn Hughes ruin Deep Purple, like he did w. Bolin.

  • @SilverTounge85 Coverdale canceled his last tour ? I think he is honest. If Gillan was honest too, he'd left Deep Purple, because he lost his voice for a long, long time... And now, he really can't sing. It's a fact. I'm a DP fan since 1982 when I was 14 years old and I like Gillan... on 'In Rock', 'Fireball', 'Machine head', 'Made in Japan' or 'Perfect Strangers'. But for him, it's time to stop.

  • @SilverTounge85 coverdale got an infection.. "rather hear Gillan struggle".. yes, cause that is all he does these days aint it ? They should call it quits..

    He didnt ruin Deep Purple..

If you are so sure of yourself and all the fans.. Why arent the fans buying their albums ?

and btw.. if you dont like it dont listen to it.. you seem to piss on coverdale and hughes all the time.. then watch gillan trying (and failing miserably) to scream instead!

  • @titustiti I set up a facebook page to try get this to happen just type in Lets Try get Deep Purple in facebook search

  • @titustiti yeah! we agree! Gillan's voice sounds like a tortured cat! seems like they are just milking it for all they can get(kinda like the bald beach boys). AND THEY HAD THE NERVE TO SUE ROD EVANS FOR THE BOGUS DP.

We would have tolerated the terrible vocals if they had Satch instead of Steve Remorse but enough is enough! They need to get rid of gillan, morse and reform with COVERDALE/HUGHS OR SIMPER/EVANS!!!! (WITH BLACKMORE)

  • @whitemanik1 Yes, DP with Blackmore, Lord + Evans/Simper (MKI) or Coverdale/Hughes (MKIII) should be more legitimate (and better) than Morse/Airey and Gillan with his half voice... But we need Paice to have MKI or III ! True Purple needs Blackmore/Lord/Paice... even though MIV with Tommy was great.

  • @titustiti Gotta have Blackmore/Lord/Paice! Thats DEEP PURPLE. I dont think Blackmore would ever work with Evans over the bogus DP lawsuit. Hell, as a MUSICIAN/SONGWRITER I would hate to have my music butchered! (like the bogus DP did.) That means our only hope is COVERDALE who can still sing. Too bad he had to suffer the cancelled tour for COVERDALE/PAGE while DP continued to milk it.....

  • @Kingdelfrong That's Glenn Hughes

  • @Kingdelfrong because you an idiot......gillan is the best singer EVER!!!

  • @shotguy1 not for me...i can't hate gillan? WTF

  • @Kingdelfrong u said that:his voice 's like woman sreaming and for this you earned a fuck you :)

  • @shotguy1 "FOR ME" HE SOUND LIKE THAT(NO MATTER WHY) WHO CARE?

    IT MY OPINION!

  • @Kingdelfrong 98% of the fans that attended MK.4 shows came to hear the classics, that was written by Gillan, Glover and Blackmore mainly, like 'Smoke On The Water', 'Lazy', 'Highway Star', 'Space Truckin'. Lord and Paice kept it together because of the success of 'Burn', but Bolin was a druggie, and Glenn Hughes lost his voice due to cocain and female screams. If Gillan screamed like a woman, then wtf does Hughes do? Hahaha!

  • @SilverTounge85 Listen to Glenn Hughes, with Rata Blanca for example, and you'll hear the difference with Ian Gillan, between a voice and a 'has been' voice.

  • @SilverTounge85 it difference very difference (for me)

  • @SilverTounge85 98% come on please.. they came to see deep purple.. not just songs from the gillan era.. Glenn has a great voice.. they can both scream, why do we have to call them women then? oh.. correct.. gillan cant scream, he used to be able to.

  • Very good version .

  • I don't like comments like "he's better . . they are better . ...". This all is history! Blackmore left the band, who was able to play the guitar parts? Nobody is able to substitue another person. Tommy and Glenn where a good choice, but . . . I hear this for the first time and Tommy Bolin is really good!

  • @Guitarguy100 I totally agree with you. Taste the band and don't listen anything else !

  • @Guitarguy100 Tommy was good when he was only drunk, and had not taken heroin. Bolin and Hughes druguse was the main reason the band disbanned in '76. Glenn Hughes fucked up his voice due to constant use of cocaine. Gillan's voice is definatly what it used to be either, he ruined the ability to hit those high notes due to chainsmoking and booze.

  • The new YT lay out is crab !!!

  • Coverdale. Gillan was kicked out of DP in 1973. He came back in 1984.

  • Quando o Gillan saiu, precisaram de DOIS vocalistas para preencher a lacuna, hehehe!

Virou outro Deep Purple, Mas ficou muito legal.

  • (Please use english or french) Coverdale and Hughes were and are awesome. Read the story of DP and you'll understand why Blackmore, Lord and Paice decided to engage two singers.

  • super sun super jazz voice sounds great 70 never to return DP

  • I still missed the slide work of TMIB, that he still sounds better even on a bad day, but this song always kicks me in the butt, Dave is awesome live!

  • where's that awesome ending?

  • Long Beach

  • Tommy Bolin led DP to their absolute peak.

It couldn't get better than this

  • @dockaiser

Tommy Bolin led DP to their absolute peak in drug usage.

    Love CTTB by the way.

  • @olhole , yeah probably even that.

But good music always went hand in hand with drug usage, at least in the 60's and 70's

  • @dockaiser

Agreed, when it comes to studio work, but live, DP mk4 were up and down. At least that's what Jon Lord and Ian Paice thought.

  • @dockaiser dude, no way! Without Ritchie the band wasn't DEEP PURPLE anymore....they just called themselves that. I mean, I already think that after "Who Do We Think We Are" the band kinda lost that spark they had with Gillan and Glover. But after Blackmore went, they sucked ass!

  • I don't agree with you. 'Come taste the band was awesome' and without his drugs issues, Bolin was great on stage : you can see and hear it on this 'Stormbringer' awesome version !

  • @philhoelke hehe.. who do we thing we are was mkIIs worst album in my view and many other peoples view.. burn was to me their greatest.. and to many others.. so they didnt lost their spark.. stupidest thing they did was to reunite mk II.. I mean, listen to gillan, and just in terms of sales, coverdale's whitesnake sold many times more..

  • @leppardsnake Totaly agree with you !

  • @leppardsnake - i don't agree i 'm afraid. yes, burn is a great album to be sure but i still think in rock and machine head really kick arse!

  • @aewd1980 I think every Purple fan can have his opinion. I love 'In rock' and 'Machine head', but I prefer 'Burn', cause for me it sounds less old... It's my point of view !

  • @titustiti - i respect your point of view but i have mine as well. for what it's worth, i do not think in rock and machine head sound old at all, they still sound ahead of their time which they were.

  • @leppardsnake Mark II reunion in 84 was a mistake : Gillan and Blackmore hate them mutually, and it could't work.
