  • Hmmmm I just read my comment from 2 yrs ago... And we stayed together... We took the Pepsi challenge.. its a everyday battle....

  • Thank you Steve... I know its hard. Thats the beauty of life.. right? Thanks for responding!!

  • Takes me back to 1981 and Brenda Rasnake. Our senior year in high school and I still don't know what happened. 29 years later I still miss her so much. She was the one.

  • Just saw MMM Friday night and was lucky enough to spend some great time with him after the concert. What a talent!

  • I've believe in forever, been married for 35 years, I wouldn't change a thing.

  • Billboard's #93 song of '82. Michael hit #1 country, #4 AC, #19 pop, in Billboard. God bless!

  • sharing same sentiments with y'all guys... so hate to love this song... why do we have to hurt ourselves and not just keep on moving on.... so true to me too... i still love my ex-husband so much and just realized it after almost 2 years.... damn hard!

  • I was just discussing this song with my mother. Imagine my surprise to discover that someone did a video with my favorite people to this. Great video. And so true.

  • Damn I really hate to love this song because it is so true to me!

  • Does anybody want to really be with the same person forever? Pretty boring in my opinion.

  • Oh please you don't mean General Hospital the soap opera, I won't listen to this shit again. Soap opera, life is a big soap opera we don't need over paid actors pretending to be dramatic. Sorry but GH, ahhh fuck it what's the use.

  • whats forever for talaga, ganda ng kantang ito, when good love is so hard to come by

  • u got that right

  • I've been down that road as well- all I can say is, Chalk it up to experience.... The second time around is SOOOO much better! First time is for practice - second time is for forever! :o) <3

  • great song...

  • Another GREAT song sung by MMM....it was written by Rusty Golden, son of William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys. Rusty has written some good songs, check him out. He was part of the Boys Band when they were the original ones to do this song, better than MMM's version IMHO. I know, how to imagine ANYTHING better than MMM and the Dirt Band guys....but see if you can find it and you'll hear why I say that. Thanks for posting a great song by a GREAT artist!!

  • this reminds me of my EX, I really do miss her, I wish her all the best!!!!

  • I think it's great! Of course, I don't watch soap operas, or even television in general, but I thought the images went very well with the song.

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Is With Us All,

    Cal-el

  • this video ruins the song. yuck

  • im going through a divorce and my dad suggested i listen to this song...thanks dad...this song SUCKS!! nah, really i remember this from childhood but now it makes a whole lot of damn sense! i hate being a adult!!

  • @JohnSierra3 hmmmm thats a great question...how much time you got??

  • @carrie7905 aye. sometimes the song is painful, but gives one the courage to handle what life dishes out. whether it is good or bad. best of luck to you

  • @carrie7905 how are you now? it's been 3years.. I hope everything is great with you now and have good life..God Bless you!

  • @carrie7905 All part of growing up Sweet Baby. Believe me, as a dad I know, if we could take all your hurts away or prevent 'em in the first place, we would. But if you're gonna live your life, you're bound to get hurts along the way. When you're a parent, you find out how really hard it is to watch your kids make mistakes. My God what I put my own parents through ! ! Hang in there, love ya.

  • @carrie7905 suck it up cant turn back now... grow up , look ahead and go for it!

  • what's forever for? Remember your losses. You will remember forever.

  • i saw him in concert and he didnt sing this song it was disapointing he sang wildfire and carelina in the pines but not this

  • You cannot even spell Carolina. Shut it.

  • im sorry im just a kid idiot i didnt know youtube had english teachers

  • wat r u speechless

  • i am sorry the song is nice it is just that i am underage.sorry.nice song.

  • eww

  • A really nice song and in part I agree with it. I tried staying married forever, but I learned that abuse appears in different forms. So after many many years I got a divorce due to verbal/oral abuse.

  • I remember one of his early songs: Entitled "I'm Gonna Miss You Girl" First song of Michael Murphy's I have heard. Somewhat more traditional sound but cannot find it here. Anyone familiar with it?

  • I know what song you are talking about. Pretty isn't it? I am looking for it also. Found this one though.

  • Now that you mention it I do remember that song. The chorus was something like "I miss the sunny days / I miss the rainy days / And you." I liked that song too.

  • i dont care about the video, all i care is about the song and it delivers clear message. love it......

  • great!!

  • i can't beliv people are disagreeing/arguing on this song.. sheeeshhh!!!

  • After reading everyones notes, hey we're all appreciative of his talent and what the song means, thanks for sharing this with us all!

  • This is a truly heart/gut wrenching song, & he does a really great job of singing those feelings right into your soul. I don't care who did it before or after this rendition - it really doesn't matter, so why don't you all stop discussing that issue & just appreciate the rendition.

  • I agree with you. Beaufitul song and a great singer.

  • Thanks for the affirmation.

  • Ever my pleasure laffnlady

  • I first heard this wonderful song on A.C.C on american forces radio Germany, later casey kasem introduced it on AT-40 and I was evorjoyed, its lyrics echo as loud..and trueee even today many years ago, sadly cant get american country countdown here now. this song had me back in those days ..sighs,,

  • i love the song...haven't heard for so long...thanks for posting and thanks for my hubby for sharing it to me, love you my teddy!...

the vid made me cry though...anyway, thanks for posting.

  • Quick research revealed:

    Anne Murray - 1975

    Michael Martin Murphey - 1982

    Johnny Mathis - 1982

    Olivia Newton-John - 1998

    B. J. Thomas - 2000

    Billy Gilman - 2000

  • Australian famed singer Daryll Sommers is the original singer who sang this at early 80s. His is the Best !!! Was that different tune? Is there any middle-aged Australian who can answer my question?

  • If he was the original singer, he would have had to released it prior to Anne Murray's 1975 version. I'm not sure if anyone released it prior to that.

  • love the song!!!

    the lyrics is great..

  • favourite ko grabe!!! thnx for uploading it.

  • love this song!

  • Believe it or not England Dan & John Ford Coley recorded it before MMM did. I have it on of their old LP's.

  • Love the song, the video sucks....why not put horses or MMM on it

  • What a childish response Susann - the video shows people in love situations & in pain. The song is "What's Forever For." it's about love ...

You think the video sucks & you want horses as the video to this song???? Obviously you've never been in love with a human ....

  • Because....when I pull up a MMM video, I want to see him, NOT a soap opera.

Why horses? Because he is a Cowboy (not contry) singer. And if I can't see him, why not some pretty scenery or something associated with him?

I fully understand the concept and meaning of the video, I just don't want to see General Hospital when I pull up my favorite musicians.

Yes, I have been in love. And he was even human.

  • This song is so sad.

  • its still true today...it was writen in the 70s,what do you think hed wright today?

  • i think he actually makes this song sound sadder...it must be his voice

  • michael martin murphey is the first person too sing this song

  • kaysetro, Billy Gillman recorded this but this version is from 1982. I am not sure Billy had be born yet.

  • Isn't this song written by Billy Gilman

  • what a tard new to country music are you ? Billy Gilman well we know what kind of " country " you listen too lmao

  • However, I just hate the thought that Michael Martin Murphey or his friends would expect us to remember how to spell his name too. I'm lucky to spell my own anymore. At our age there are strokes to consider among other issues. If it were me, I'd be happy that my fans even remembered me. I just must be too easy to please though. lol

  • Oh well hell... none of us can remember anything. But you must be right because my divorce was in 82. (I believe.) In my opinion, The song was a great song then and still is.

  • Nice ballad, instead of the fact that was No.19 in 1982 in US

  • I've been a fan of Michael's since the mid 70's....this most certainly is his recording! Love it!!!!

  • Hello ... I'm a friend of Murph's, and he would most

likely prefer his last name to be spelled correctly:

MurphEy. It happens all the time.

  • My apologies. I appreciate you pointing this out to me. I will correct it immediately in the posting, but it will take me a couple days probably to get the vid corrected. I will do it ASAP. Once again, thanks for pointing this out.

  • It is an old song. That's why I had to double check myself just to be sure. LOL

  • Since it's been more than 20 years I may be remembering wrong too. It may have been a song called "dirty laundry" I remembered. Now I will have to go thru my old 45's. Wonder if I can find an experienced DJ to clarify it for my mind as well.

  • Glenn frey never sang it. He did sing a great ballad in 1982 called the one you love. Dirty Laundry was by Don henly. (From a former DJ)

  • No Matter what, it's a wonderful song & If Michael wrote it then he needs a major hug.!!! The words doesn't anybody ever stay together anymore etc...

gives someone food for thought especially when your mate irritates you. It can help you chill out sometimes. Take a second look at that person you love.

Great topic for Valentine's Day 2007.

I used to play this over and over back in my freshly divorced college days. Memory fades what can I say.

  • "What's Forever For" by Glenn Frey

    Check it out...

I think you'll discover something interesting

  • You did make me question this. I cannot find anything showing that Glenn Frey ever sang this song. I checked the net and iTunes store. The iTunes store lists three different artists that performed this song...B.J. Thomas, Billy Gilman, and Michael Martin Murphy. The version that I used is indeed Michael Martin Murphy. I listened to their clip of it to be sure. Maybe you better double check. Thanks for calling me on it though. Better to be sure than doubt.
