I had the distinct pleasure of hearing conservation talks by Dave Foreman three times a decade or so ago. I still shake my head in wonderment that so many more Americans could be lassoed into the great conservation circle if only they could also hear Foreman.
I'm rereading The Monkey Wrench Gang now. I was younger than George Hayduke the first time I read it, and now I'm almost as old as Doc Sarvis. I'm getting divorced, so now I need to find my Bonnie Abbzug. The river rolls on, and we get older and die, but those timeless characters stay the same forever.
I never had the honor of meeting Ed, but I met Dave once, sort of. We made eye contact, and I nodded to him in recognition. He nodded back . . . he didn't know me, but he saw the green fire.

this is great. I love Foreman, and Abbey. Heyduke (and Ed Abbey) lives!

Wish Dave were more active with speeches like this these days. He's as much a Voice in the Wilderness as Abbey in some ways.
