im confused around the 6:00 mark cuz you didnt really finish explaining what musicality is vs rhythm, cuz you went on to explain the boom clap. Are you saying that if i hit every beat in the 8 count outside of the boom clap (im a bboy) that im musical but not rhythmic?
and being rhythmic means that i move to the general flow of the song not really hitting EVERY single beat but mostly the big ones to ride the flow?
litle comment for the text at the end. if you want to know where you are going, you should not only know where you are, but also from where you are coming. im studying maths. ; ) just joking...
Wow, this video opened my eyes to a whole new element I've missed in popping, thanks a lot! I've got a whole lot to work on, I think I got a bit of rhythm, but barely.
But yeah, thanks a lot, this video deserves more views, I was totally unaware of this. I wish I was taught this as a beginner.
wow, I just learned a lot. Thank you popula. I guess I need to start working on my rhythm more and musicality should come as I get to know songs more.
i started in 2002 and acki at bboy summit was the first example of dope musicality and beat freakin i saw.. sally sly vs acki.. still one of my fav battles
Thank you... I've been talkin to people about flowing through the music... how the beat is a constant that should be automatically hit without thought while the movements go in and out of what the music is doing...
Overall I'm enjoying your little series of videos.

Wonderful analysis! Agreed fully!
I think it was alien ness who said, if you can't rock a beat, you're not bboying. I think that applies to dancing in general as well.

I totally agree with you about Acki, but it seems like he's now come full circle back to rhythm -- Definitely emulating the EB's these days.

This is a good point. A lot of people only think about what moves they can set up to do a "beat freak" or only think about the beat freak in a song.

That's a really good explanation of how to tell whether or not someone has rhythm
