And 1500HP+ N/A motor is rarely going to get anywhere near the 5 second time in the quarter mile. Low 7's yes, 5's no way unless it's alcohol driven. Also there are a LOT of tuners. The way you refer to them aut0mobile you make it sound like they're native only to JDM. Last I checked Heffner Motorsports was a tuner, as is Brabus, AMG, //M, SRT, TRD, etc.

@holyjesuswashere the 2.4 liter motor is not a neon motor, the brake, the CV's, transmission, turbo, exhaust, interior, etc. are all unique to the SRT-4. Saying it is simply a "neon with a turbo" is ignorant. It is a performance car that was the top car in its class every year it was produced. Its competitors (also FWD as well as AWD cars) could not hold a candle to it in any performance category as well as giving more expensive cars (evo/sti) a run for their money in some performance categories

The interior was cheap ass plastic and the engine wasn't so reliable. And of course it was top for the price, no one was making turbo cars in that range. And that car is only good on a straight, in the twisties, good luck! The Rabbit r32 could whip it easy.

You're same argument can be applied to the evo, most of its interior was pulled strait from the base lancer parts bin. Creating a unique radio for every model car in your range makes no sense,most manufacturers have a standard radio common to most of its lineup.The 2.4 liter engine was plenty reliable as it was overbuilt for its application. As for plastic,what are you expecting at that price?

@holyjesuswashere The Evo is a much more capable platform than any Subaru simply because of the engine layout, it is much easier to make power out of an Evo because of the lack of convoluted exhaust/intake plumbing that is present on a boxer equipped WRX/STI. Also the 4g63 is a very strong motor with decades of development/aftermarket. You refer to 90's interior, I assume your talking about the interior of the likes of a supra. Reason these cars have nicer interiors is because they cost $30-40k

That was the beauty of the car, for the price of a shit RSX/Civic si/ you got a faster, better handling, better stopping car with 4 doors and more potential. The R32 was way out of its price range, much heavier, less powerful, slower, and had comparable handling. A stock SRT-4 would pull on an Evo VIII and an STI on the freeway for $10,000 less

@juechter When the SRT-4 was release it was not competing in the Evo/STi's market. It was competing int he RSX, Civic Si, MSP, Cobalt SS category of ~$20k. It just happened to dominate these cars in every performance category. It also happened to have performance comparable and exceeding the Evo/STi in some aspects. That is why its a good car. Not everyone had $30k+ to buy a performance car. The SRT-4 offered 90% of the performance of an Evo/STi for $10k less.
