With the occupation of southern Macedonia by Greece in 1912-13. Greece needs its occupied Macedonian territory and created new propaganda to claim the ancient Macedonians as “Greek” Such propaganda is needed to justify the present occupation. This stealing of the Macedonian history by the Greeks is resented by the Macedonians who have long before the Greeks claimed descent from Alexander, and still do.This fact certainly does not give them the "copyright" of the name MACEDONIA.

My grandfather if he was alive he would have told you the horrors of it all. He was from Statisa, Drama, Macedonia. He would have been 103 now. All these people in the region (from all nationalities) had crimes committed against them. So I am not picking sides with anyone. But it is the truth. The Americans and British wanted their way after WWI and lack of knowledge divided up without people asking anyone. That is why there is still so much conflict with the division of this area today.

@panagos381 The Bulgarians are in the Balkans more in the Greeks. The Bulgarians are the Thraco-Illyrian people of the Balkans. The Greeks are Dorians and Ethiopians, they are invaders, while the Bulgarians are autochtonous.

@xxpoonednoobxx even the word 'autochtonous' that u use is greek... :-) Bulgarians are a slavised turkish (asian) nation that appeared in balkans 650 years AFTER Christ. And while being next to the Slavs that came almost at the same time, Bulgarians adopted their language. As about Greeks, the world world knows about ancient Greeks, and their culture, upon which whole world culture and life is based (even now).

Want it or not, Greeks (no matter if there were of many races), arrived in Balkans many thousand years ago. As about Thraco-Illyrians, yes you are right my friend, they were also ancient, but they have nothing to do with bulgarians. As about FYROM, it is just a piece of Bulgaria that happened to be in Yugoslavia. No matter what happened in ancient times, we all were conquered by Turks, and after Greek revolution in 1821, all Balkan countries started the efforts to become independent as well.

Later on, during Balkan wars, all allies tried to free as much as possible land that they could. Balkans were a salad (in bulgarian territory there were many greeks, and in greek territory many Bulgarians). After both wars (the second was started by greedy Bulgarians), English, etc, fixed the borders on a map. And u got a lot more land than u had managed to get by troops (actually in second balkan war u had lost almost everything). So, don't call us invaders, we owe you nothing, u might do...
