This is the 1st recording of Otis released on Confederate Records which was produced by Bobby Smith out of Macon GA! hard to find the original 45. Most have been bought up and destroyed because the label had the confederate flag on the 45 singles as the logo. Most of the artists on Confederate Records were Black Artists. They later changed the name of the label to Boblo Records and then to Macon Records. Eventually the record label was absorbed into the Federal Record Label and King Records.
Thank you WCOS Internet Radio- for this documentation Of Otis' "SHOUT BAMALAMA" 1960 B side- A side was Fat Gal. Dennis Damon, real name Dennis wheeler on United Artist also in 1966 released "SHOUT BAMALAMA" prior to Mickey Murray in 1967- Otis again overdub 1968 on KING and later on by "Wet Willy" on Capricorn . Booby Smith was the first Mgr of Otis Redding, Dennis Wheeler, & Wayne Cochran 1958-1960 for Confederate Records & 1967 for Mickey Murray
i didnt think he could get even better than songs like "cigarettes and coffee" or "cant turn you loose" but my GOD this is fantastic! thanks for the post!
extraordinary, fantastic ,magical myrific ... great tune lifts your heart ! up there in heaven ,Otis impress God with his music ! R.I.P. Otis Redding the real king of soul !
It is on the back side of "FAT GAL" on Confederate Records - which was later released on Gala and Orbit and King Records- They were produced by Bobby Smith in Macon Ga who was also Otis" manager at that time.
the whole band is rockin'out too ! Of course great players would want to play together & esp. for a recording. Good performers can bring out the best in each other also & it is beyond doubt that Otis Redding was one of the best performers to ever be recorded. Rest In Peace Otis Redding, it is impossible for me to measure how much joy I've gotten from his greatness & how he shared it.
