I just realized what an ironic comment this is from Portnoy. He accuses the other guys in Dream Theater of selling out, but yet he steered them into nu-metal, transparent Muse & Evanescence ripoffs, growling etc. I love most of the music from the Portnoy-led DT era, but there's no denying that he led them into very regressive territory.

@joshrochanroolzutoob I agree with you. I regret that comment, but here's what still bugs me a little bit: Portnoy tries to make it seem like he stuck to his guns while the other members sold out. In reality, he's engaged in some very commercial stuff, moreso than any other member of DT. I guess the moral of the story is to never cry "sellout" because you never know when you might be playing with Avenged Sevenfold or Stone Sour.

I think Scenes From A Memory, Images and Words, Train of Thought, and A Dramatic Turn of Events are their best albums. I don't know what the craze is about Octavarium, the only aspects that stood out to me are the title track and The Root of All Evil.

To be honest, I don't think they should have taken MP back even if they hadn't hired a drummer anyway. He left to join Avenged Sevenfold and only attempted reconciliation when Avenged Sevenfold told him that he wasn't wanted as a full time member, this shows that he didn't want to rest, he wanted money, and unfortunately A7x probably make more than DT.

I'm glad that he couldn't just waltz back into Dream Theater, he left them, not the other way around.
