From a purely casting point of view I can't get used to Frederick Jaeger as the boss of Special Branch. Having watched him play mad professors in Doctor Who it's quite hard to buy him in the role of authority figure.
@Davies09091986 He didn't do too bad as Craven's boss. It's like Gordon Jackson in The Professionals - many thought he was the wrong choice as Cowley after doing years of Upstairs, Downstairs, but he excelled in the role, staying on for 4 years. To be honest, I think Richard Leech (Supt. Knight) was the best Special Branch boss - he was in series 3. He had grey hair and dark-rimmed glasses.

Nicolette McKenzie was a very pretty lady. Paul Eddington's quite good here. We get to see a bit more of him than usual.
