countries do own parts of the ocean. it is property and the g8 summit is a international thing and the german coast guards were in charge of the waters to keep them safe and to stop boats from coming into a restricted zone. they had the right to shoot and kill everyone on board to stop them but instead used a non-lethal tactic.
They hadn't intended to run the zapcat over like so but when the naive and dangerous actions of the activists provoke high speed chases like this, accidents can happen.

German police said it was an uncommon manoeuvre to run over the boat but decisions were up to the crew. If anybody had been killed in this mere PROTEST (far, far away from being terror) there would have been an uproar in German society against police brutality, and rightly so.
Second, decisions on running into a boat like this should be taken only with the same seriousness that police officers would take in deliberately running into a car, or in shooting someone.
An action that is designed to injure or kill is very serious, and brutal.
We would expect an uproar if a police car drove through a crowd of demonstrators. We should be upset by police deliberately hitting a boat with protesters even if they were not killed.

Is is an accident? Sort of, an "on-purpose accident" it is due to a combination of negligence and brutality. This boat was first hit by the police sending it into a smaller one.

Its disputable whether this was too brutal or not. Greenpeace said they even announced the action beforehand. But stop spreading your BS on these videos. They were NOT killed, but 3 were injured. German police said it was an uncommon manoeuvre to run over the boat but decisions were up to the crew. If anybody had been killed in this mere PROTEST (far, far away from being terror) there would have been an uproar in German society against police brutality, and rightly so.

First, I am happy to hear no one was killed.
Second, decisions on running into a boat like this should be taken only with the same seriousness that police officers would take in deliberately running into a car, or in shooting someone.
An action that is designed to injure or kill is very serious, and brutal.
We would expect an uproar if a police car drove through a crowd of demonstrators. We should be upset by police deliberately hitting a boat with protesters even if they were not killed.
