  • No v6 or GT at NY show? Just shelby! Not real for most buyers. The fiesta and focus was really nice!

  • Hopefully the ecoboost comes out for 2012!!!

  • @quietfamily

I think they will dop the ecoboost in this car in the near future. It's gonna dominate all other v6s in it's class. Maybe some v8s

  • "Coyote" is the name for the 5.0. With my budget the way it is, I'll be looking for a v6 with the performance package this summer. GT suspension, brakes, and gearing. A few years into the 5.0 I'll buy a GT, without the traditional bugs and problems that plague brand new engine platforms.

  • I just sold my 2009 v6 at a good price to put a deposit on a 2011 v6, why would anyone have bought the 2010 v6, it will be almost worthless by Sept 2010.

  • actually, I'm considering a 2010 v6... why?

    couple of reasons:

Price.. discounts are coming big time, and I can get into a new base v6 for 15k and change. That's over 6k off, and with that savings, I could supercharge the 4.0 to get into the high 300's to possibly low 400's hp.

One thing we don't really know is how much the new v6 can be modded. If we use the SHO as an example, it takes 2 twin turbos to get an additional 45-55 hp, but we don't know if that comparison is valid either.

  • But how much is the 2010 v6 worth in a few years, and why would you worry about modding the new 2011 v6 when it comes with 300+hp.

  • oh, it will depreciate just like any other car, and maybe more so, but with the cheaper price point, I figure it is a wash.

The main point I was making is, you could spend 21+k on a 2011 and get 305hp. or you could spend about the same on a 2010 (discount price + supercharger mods) and end up with more hp.

The 2011 will be a hot seller though. Just saying

  • I am not that technical and would be afraid of modding a car to the point of voiding the warranty,

But if you know what you are doing I have heard of people getting much more hp from the current v6 than the gt v8, with, I wish they would sort out the medievil back axle while they were at it too.

  • wouldn't 2 twin turbos be a quad turbo set-up;)

  • haha he named the engine coyote. isn't that just the "code name" for the entire car? new buyers might think it means a new engine type haha

  • Still like the name... Coyote... an i thought it was the code name for the engine they were putting in? Not the whole car?

  • prob. it just sounded like coyote was a part of the engine from the way he said it.

  • no the engine actually is named coyote it is a new engine type, entirely redesigned from the previous engines

  • Cool new engine, but styling and interior wise I would say the camaro will still be better, the rear of the mustang is ugly, and the interior has yet to unlock its full potential, maybe the next generation of stang will be better... especially in the ass lol

  • Wow yours is a very smart comment Fred. The same you just have commented is what my son says about the camaro and I get mad everytime because I think the Challenger is better.

  • 30 mpg and 305 horses? Wow..I'd say the camoro was just killed off again with ease.

  • The 5.0 is cool and all, but GODDAME it this V6 is awesome. No more secretary car. Glad to say it, the Camaro RIP 1967-2002, 2010-2011, killed by the same murderer...... Mustang.

  • couldnt of said it better myself. lol

  • here here,,,,sounds like they finally got a respectable v6.....

  • sounds like they finally got a respectable mustang

  • @jettagt97tt

now the bowties cant say the stang needs a blower to beat the ss

  • hahahaha , ryanvo144 your totally right. how do these ppl get a job?

  • really this guy has no idea what he is talking about. unless he was born in 2005

  • They make the car look soo awsome yet they still use the bar to hold up the hood >.> but I love it:))

  • RIP ObamaMotors Camaro!

  • 0:15 So..... This guy is only 6 years old? Big for his age isnt he?!

  • lol

  • You are completely right about it TheMikeyEl, this commentator just throw a line to the air without even know what he is saying. The 4.0 has been in the stangs since the 2005 model year. Ford has used it in other cars like the Explorer and Ranger and Mercury Mountaineer and land Rover LR3.

  • i think the 4.0 has only been in the mustang since 05 before that they had a 3.8L right? correct me if i'm wrong. i know ford has used the 4.0 forever though just not in the stang.

  • That specific engine was first used on the 1997 explorer, which itself was closely related to the original 4.0L V6 from 1990. However the engine family itself was designed in 1968 and was first used in the Mustang beginning in 1974. The 3.8 was an Essex V6 which was used in the Mustang since 1982. Ford switched back to the 4.0L cologne V6 to save money when the Essex was discontinued in favor of the duratec 35.

  • finally, this is what ive been waiting for. good to know you can get a little performance without putting a hole in your wallet.

  • It's nice to know that there's muscle car war going among the V6 too.

As much as I love the Camaro I think GM better put that thing on a diet.

  • he meant the 4.0 block has been out for a while..that motor has been out since late 60s..also..im glad i bought my 01 3.8 in 06 cuase i would have been pissed if i bought a 4.0 then this came out..and finally a base v6 that can smoke ricers left and right. our old v6's had enough trouble with some 4 cylinders(k20's/h22's) ex.

  • just adding 2 cyl to this engine would give you 4.93L and 406 hp.

  • 0:24 if u see the back

it says the v8 will have 355 HP!

  • I think thats the Taurus SHO

  • That is the Taurus SHO which has the mustang v-6 except they popped two turbos on it. NOOB!

  • i think your the noob here kid, the mustang v6 is a DOHC 3.7 liter, the ecoboost is a twin turbo charged 3.5 liter v6. not the same at all

  • @matman142 yeah you are right..my bad

  • @jewbash no worries my friend, at least now you know!

  • @pimp90650

The 355 HP is referring to another vehicle on the floor. The next GT is expected to produce over 400 HP (from what I have read, either 400 or 405 HP).

  • 412hps! woohoo!

  • Nah man that's for the SHO it has the Ecoboost 3.5L V6 that makes 355hp. I heard that their going to put an Ecoboost 5.0 in the GT500!?!?

  • na thats not a mustang see the pic under.

i hope they will have at leat 400 hp

  • the coyote will have 415 ass spankin horses

  • So, Dodge is next I guess. Time to get that minivan V6 engine out of the Charger and Challenger and, oh yeah, toss a fun stick in there as well. I'm not a "Mopar, Ford, Bow Tie" guy. I'm a car guy. I'll get what I like at the time. At this time, I like the Camaro...when this new V6 in the Mustang comes out, I'll be a Mustang guy. When Dodge does something about their shitty V6...well, I see a Challenger in my future. Once Ford puts that ecoBoost engine in the Mustang, its over...

  • so much for the camaro, with a better overall look and a way better interior i think ill be getting this instead

  • It's about time! Ford has been in the dark ages on engine performance since ... well, the dark ages. I've always said that Ford would never update the engine unless people stopped buying the Mustang. Why would they? People continued to buy the Mustang year after year despite the same dismal performance. Probably why GM and others are failing despite all the "free" gov. money and Ford posted a $1 billion profit last quarter.

  • well the camaro had a good run.

  • v6 is cheaper than the gt and the shelby but the shelby is expensive i bought the 2010 shelby it cost 50k the v6 cost 20k

  • no difference??? what about the bump in horsepower the VQ engine from nissan got when displacement changed from 3.5 to 3.7

  • Ha ha! I feel bad for 2010 Mustang GT owners. They're destined to look at the2011 Mustang V6's tailpipes, which will be significantly cheaper then they paid for their GT's.

  • so is this the mustang ford needs to compete with the genesis v6 coupe and the nissan 370Z?

  • This is the entry level Mustang in the low 20's staring price.

The Mustang GT with 5.0 with 400+hp will compete with the 370z, Camaro SS and Challenger.

The 370z will be underpowered in comparison to the Mustang GT and the Chevy and Dodge are just to fat.

  • I sat in this car yesterday it looked exactly the same as the 2010.

  • can't wait for the new 5.0 mustang, its gonna kill the camaro and it would be awesome if it could hang with the gt500. maybe with a cam, full exhaust, intake, tune it will keep up or even beat it.

  • Well after many failed updates ford finally got rid of that dinosaur of an engine, I mean a 4 litre V6 making only 200 or so hp?? in 2010?? wow thats sad. Now Ford, how long is it going to take for you to change the rear ford ranger suspension???????

  • Mike... Are you saying you were born after 2005? Cuz that's when the 4L V6 came into the Mustang. I think you need to learn some automotive details if you want to work for an auto magazine!

  • but the original incarnation of the engine was originally developed in 1968, that may be what the guy was getting at. A 41 year old engine updated and updated over the decades is still an old ass engine haha! the 3.7 gonna be sweet!

  • @Yonsen8

That's true, but that's not what the reporter stated. He says "in the Mustang", which means he's trying to convince us that his information is correct, which is misleading. I know there's a bunch of Stang and Ford fans here and I know they know their stuff, but that's why it's important for reporters (especially paid ones) to get their information right. It's not like it's hard to find out the right info in a situation like this.

  • @BSRGodfather

Yeah. The 4.0L has been around for a while. But only in the Mustang since 2005.

  • People can now get excited about buying a base-model V6 Stang!

And I doubt this one will sound like an unrefined washing machine lol

  • yea but when is that live rear axle gonna go

  • The 400/400 5.0L Coyote is coming

  • yes i cant wait for that gt too come out!

  • "This is the 2011 Ford Mustang.........V6." lol

  • what so funny? lets look at the stats here for a minute, low 20's price, 30 mpg and 305hp..name another car that can do that. bet you can't.

  • @cerebraldamage

You so sure the car's gonna come in at the low $20's? I'm highly speculative about that. Figure a significant increase in price to match (or just slightly beat) the V6 Camaro.

  • @BSRGodfather, nope price isn't going up!! The only way you can price this car more than a camaro is by adding a boat load of options that the Camaro V6 or SS does notor offer as an option, Navigation package, Panoramic roof pretty much anything that's cool.

  • the camaro? idk about the mpg..but i would take it over the mustang because of the performance

  • The Camaro V6 is a lot heavier than this Mustang, what ever the power advantage it has it gone. since now Mustang produces more power/more toque and weighs in close to 300lbs less.

  • I wasn't making fun of the car, I was somewhat making fun of the guy because he almost forgot what to say.

  • plus a limited slip diff and a 6 speed manual. yumm yumm.....

  • fianlly, Ford gave the ponny a modern engine

  • Ive also read that this stang will come standard with gt disc brakes and dual exhaust

  • Damn I can't wait to get back into a mustang. I'm so happy I held out and didnt by a 2010.

  • The question that beggs to be asked is why the 3.5TT ecoboost V6 didn't find it's way into the stang? The 3.5 making 355hp @ 25mpg in the SHO/MKS. Being that the stang is approx. 1000lbs lighter than the SHO the fuel economy would be comparable to this 3.7. oh well, at least they retired the 4.0.

  • Ford may revive the SVO. There are a lot of rumors about it. You never know.

  • Because the Naturally Aspirated 3.7 competes with the Camaro's V6.

  • yes there is..

  • yeah my car facts r a lil rusty lol i just like the camaros styling better iv never been in a mustang b4 tho so i guess i cant judge

  • so selling my camry for this car

  • 30mpg with 305hp

    nice one ford

  • It's just a slightly larger version of the old 3.8L V6. The 4.6L V8 is a classic and a great engine. The V6 is a dinosaur. It had no power and it's fuel economy was a joke.

  • the 3.8L had 150 hp

  • you know...this is pissing me off. here i am driving a 3.8L that only gets 150hp and like 20mpg and they decide to drop a car with double the hp and better fuel economy...smh...better start saving up some cash.

  • In 94-98 the Essex 3.8 had 150hp.

In 99-04 Ford added slip port head which bumped up the power to 190 in 99-00 and 193 in 01-04.

I did laugh when he said the 4.0 has been in the Mustang since before he was born. 05-10 is along time? That makes him, what? 4?

  • no that engine was first designed in 1968

  • You are correct. It has been in Fords since 68 as a OHV engine. It was also in the Mustang II.

Its current SOHC variant has been in the Mustang since 05.

  • muscle car wars are getting better and better!

  • WELL IT'S ABOUT GODDAMN TIME FORD GOT RID OF THAT 4.0L,LMAO!

    That 4.0 IS old.

  • bout time TY!!

  • bout darn time ford got the mustang better.

  • fords doing the right thing finally!!!!!!!!!!!!GO FORD!

  • ya but the camaro does not get 30 mpg

and this new ford is a way better motor then the camaro is trust me

  • 2011 will also be 30 mpg

  • Any 0-60 guesses??

  • Around the Genesis territory. Id say 5.5 or less.

  • lol i can't wait to see this car revving up! oh god! LOL!

  • its gonna be soooo expensive

  • yea its gonna be real expensive so ford wont sell them...fords great plan..

  • hah still i still like the camaro better.. it has a 3.5 not 3.7 like the mustang and still gets around 300 hp.. same engine used on the cadi cts btw

  • it's a 3.6 304bhp

  • @maheshcx It's a 3.6, the reason I remember this is because the Lexus IS350 has the smallest N/A V6 engine with 300+ HP, so I always compare them.

  • holy shit. gm has to make that z28 asap

  • danrn right lol. Im thinking that the Z28 will either be Eaton Supercharged LS3, or it will use a variant of the LS7 from the Z06...has to be one of those 2, unless they bring out a new motor, which i seriously doubt. But i imagine the Z28 will come out late 2011

  • naw they havent had a 4 point liter since this dude has been born hell mine had a 3.8 dude needs to learn his cars to be in that buisness

  • Exactly, they only started using the 4.0 explorer engine in mid 2004 for the 2005 models. That would make him 5 yrs old.

  • 5.0 mustang again HELL YA
