@remzam If you require a unlock for your device you will have to wait until the new Pwnage Tool or Sn0wbreeze tool is released. They allow you to create a custom IPSW firmware to upgrade your device to iOS 4.1 without updating the baseband so you can then unlock with Ultrasn0w.

@remzam You do realize downgrading is no longer needed as iOS 4.1 can now be jailbroken with Limera1n. You should see my lastest video. Only reason not to get 4.1 is if you rely on carrier unlock.
@Rottenpie119 save IPSW file on your computer where you can find it then when you restore in iTunes press shift and choose restore and then choose the IPSW you saved to your PC.

@debo19832003 first off, going from 4.0.2 to 4.1 is a Upgrade NOT a downgrade. You will likely not be able to downgrade the new device bc if it is new it never had SHSH blobs saved to cydia server.
ok so i DL'd the iphone 4 software (4.0) on the site u mentioned and it made a zip file ok then i extracted its contents to a new folder on the desktop but when i {shift-click} the restore button on itunes it doesnt load anything the folders dont do anything but branch out into subfolders please help and i changed the hosts so now i cant even restore my phone to store defaults please reply im desperate
@Rottenpie119 the file need to be .IPSW not a .ZIP. In the video annotations it says this. you need to download the software again as .IPSW not ZIP. Hope this helps.

@BrzBre This depends. Most users who have issue with slow or laggy devices are iPhone 3G users. I have done many downgrades from 4.0 to 3.1.3 and all the users have said there device is much faster back on 3.1.3 rather than running 4.0.
so once you save that shs you can use it for different iphones or do you have to save the shs from every one. coz if my phone is not jailbroken how do i get this file?
@vladimbert the short answer, SHSH blobs are unique to each iDevice you cannot backup SHSH of one device and use another. you may want o google what SHSH blobs are and how they work. Hope this helps

@mrajlozano Sorry I do not understand what you are telling me. Do you need help in regards to something in my video? It sounds like you are trying to say your device is stuck in recovery mode. If that is the case I would suggest you download and run Tiny Umbrella 4.1.4 on your computer to kick your device out of recovery mode. I have never heard of or used "recovery mode boot fixer 1.0" so I am no help with that. if this helps Please subscribe.
Everything worked perfectly with the exception of the last step. I couldn't restore the back up. I got a message stating the software on the iphone was too old to restore backup. Any ideas? I have itunes 9.2.1.5.
@TheSagesophie this is simple. you cannot restore your iPhone from a backup you did while it was on a newer version of the iOS firmware. Example..you have 4.02. and you backup your device. Then you decided to downgrade your firmware to iOS 4.0.1 you cannot restore a backup fild saved while you had 4.0.2 on our device. Instead while your iPhone is connected to iTunes choose the drop down by your device name choose a old back up you had while on 4.0.1. that should fix your issue. Pls subscribe

@dicser412 If you listen to the video and read the description and Annotations you would see 1015 means it worked and you device is just in Recovery mode. use Tiny umbrella, RecBoot, or iReb to get out of recovery mode and you should be good.
Hey i downgraded using a Iphone 3g from 4.02 to 3.1.3, and now I am stuck in emergency call mode. Redsnow doesnt work for some reason anybody got any ideas what I should do?

@justin6999 that is the reason it will not activate. You need a SIM card from a valid carrier then connect to iTunes to activate it. What iOS did you downgrade to? 3.1.3?
@reyg25atx04 Yeah 3.1.3, but I didnt have a SIM before and was using the phone perfectly on IOS 4 and IOS 4.0.2 via jailbreaking it. After downgrading to 3.1.3 redsnow wont work.
@justin6999 search google and download Sn0wbreeze v1.5.2 and download it. This will allow you to create a custom IPSW 3.1.3 firmware and will "Hacktivate" your iPhone. When you go thru the setup process Click on “Yes” when Sn0wbreeze asks you “Do you want to activate your iPhone?” for hacktivation. Click on “No” only if you are on an officially supported carrier like AT&T....I hope this helps. Please R/C/S to my channel. THX!
Good tutorial I had learn the hard way if your instructions are followed correctly there shouldn't be any problem. Follow these steps for every device most. Important is to backup the shsh files with tiny umbrella
I had 4.0.2 did exactly what you said, then when you cut yourself off during the iREB section and skip to iTunes. I choose iPhone 3G. My iPhone doesn't move!.
@BKPnD If this did not work I would not have made a tutorial. Just becuase U can't get it to work does not mean it does not work. U are doing something wrong. The 3g iPhone is by far the EASIEST device to downgrade. Why? because it has no ECID. So you do not even need to have you SHSH on cydia and you do not need to alter the hosts file. All you do is get a old firmware download it, put your device in DFU mode and retore it in iTunes. Get error(1015 or 1003) then kick your 3G out of recovery.
@BKPnD download and use Tiny Umbrella. See my new video posted today and you will see Tiny Umbrella has an option to kick the device out of recovery mode. I hope this helps
Is it really accurate when cydia says that you have saved your shshs file on it? i read comments that some people can't downgrade their idevices even their shshs were saved on cydia or tinyumbrella.
@darkseed06 If you see in cydia.. This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS/iOS 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2 0r any of the 3.0 versions your SHSH blobs should be saved. Can I promise that is the case no I cannot. However it is VERY rare for you to see that on your iPhone in cydia and Not have you SHSH blobs saved. I say you are good to go in my expert opinion.
@kavak1975 Is this a Trick question!? iOS 4.0.2 cannot be Jailbroken yet. The latest version that can be jailbroken is 4.0.1 So if you really have a iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0.2 it is not possible for you to have cydia on your iPhone 4 device since it cannot be jailbroken!
SO if the issue is you have a new iPhone 4 out of the box with iOS 4.0.2 you will not be able to downgreade to 4.0.1, sorry.

I just got my iPhone4, it arrived running 4.0.2 firmware. I'm just going to be patient and wait for the next jailbreak for my device. For any one who has questions about shsh blobs or saving them to sauriks server, you really should start Googling the key words and reading up on it. It may seem like a foreign language at first. But learning this stuff will help you understand these videos and soon you will be a pro at this. Thanks for posting this video! :)

@KixErzZz READ the description as the Video says and you will have your answer! As long as your SHSH blobs have been on cydia at one point and time you should be able to downgrade.
I found out that you right click and take ownership of the hosts notepad by going to the place where he went apart from dont type the \hosts\ part just remove it and right click on hosts and take the ownership and u can save it :)
@facanal I just tested the RecBoot link in my description and then scrolled to the bottom of the article and choose the "You can download it from here: RecBoot Intel (188596)" link and it worked on all 3 of my computers.
@intelxtreme I am sorry. I am Not able to duplicate your issue. I was able to download the IPSW for iPhone 3G (3.1.3), iPhone 3GS (4.0.1) and iPhone 4 (4.0.1) without any issues from felix brunsiPod/iPhone site.
@FyahStarta see the UPDATE in my video description on 8/30/2010. Do this at your own risk. I have not tried it and I will not risk one of my customers iPhone 4 devices to try it.
great video, i am almost finished. the only problem i have is when i run libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.1 software nothing on my iphone happens. it stays blank. When i open itunes, it tells me i have to restore my phone. I have try about 5 times. Do you know of anything wrong?? thanks
@TheNickbourgeois if you are using iReb I would suggest using RecBoot. Because if libusb was installed it would be in your add/remove programs on your PC. IF it is not there is is Not installing. Just use RecBoot. Please let me know if you need help setting that up on your computer and please READ the "Read ME" file before using RecBoot because the current version requires a iTunes dll to be installed in the RecBoot folder.
Katebell8, i had the same problem. What i did is run as admin, then when note pad opens i press file, open, computer and type the C:\windowns comment in and it works. hopes this helps

@TheNickbourgeois You need to make sure when you downloaded the Firmware to your computer the extension is .IPSW NOT .ZIP If it is ZIP you will need to change the extension to .IPSW then try again. I hope this helps.

@facanal Please Read the description. iPhone 2g,3g,3gs can use ireb, iPhone 4 use RecBoot. You should note in the video I am using ireb and the device I was using was iPhone 3g. I hope this helps.

Hey I'm an idiot with a 3GS an I updated to 4.0.2 be accident. After I upgraded my iPhone became unjailbroken and lost cydia, so how are you supposed to get the shsh blob from cydia if cydia is removed when you upgrade to 4.0.2?

Everything worked great except at the end when I tried to resync my iphone to Itunes. It told me that my os is too old and needed to be upgraded. What do I do? How do I get it to sync up with my backup?
@edge2win2 The reason is because your last backup before you downgraded was with the New iOS and now that you are on a old OS the backup file does not want to work on the old OS. It might be a little late now but usually I recommended before upgrading to any new OS you save a backup on that OS. Then upgrade. Then wait a day and save a backup while on the new OS. This allows you to have a backup for both the older OS and the New iOS.
@edge2win2 (for Windows PC) While you iPhone is connected to your PC via the USB cable open iTunes. Listed to the left you will see the name of your iPhone. Right click on that and choose restore from backup. Tap the little drop down arron on the right. Choose a date that was before you upgraded to the new iOS. It should work but I cannot guarantee all the contents of your iPhone will be there like it was when you were on the newer iOS. Hope this helps.

@vladimbert the short answer, SHSH blobs are unique to each iDevice you cannot backup SHSH of one device and use another. you may want o google what SHSH blobs are and how they work. Hope this helps

@mrajlozano Sorry I do not understand what you are telling me. Do you need help in regards to something in my video? It sounds like you are trying to say your device is stuck in recovery mode. If that is the case I would suggest you download and run Tiny Umbrella 4.1.4 on your computer to kick your device out of recovery mode. I have never heard of or used "recovery mode boot fixer 1.0" so I am no help with that. if this helps Please subscribe.

Everything worked perfectly with the exception of the last step. I couldn't restore the back up. I got a message stating the software on the iphone was too old to restore backup. Any ideas? I have itunes 9.2.1.5.

@TheSagesophie this is simple. you cannot restore your iPhone from a backup you did while it was on a newer version of the iOS firmware. Example..you have 4.02. and you backup your device. Then you decided to downgrade your firmware to iOS 4.0.1 you cannot restore a backup fild saved while you had 4.0.2 on our device. Instead while your iPhone is connected to iTunes choose the drop down by your device name choose a old back up you had while on 4.0.1. that should fix your issue. Pls subscribe

@dicser412 If you listen to the video and read the description and Annotations you would see 1015 means it worked and you device is just in Recovery mode. use Tiny umbrella, RecBoot, or iReb to get out of recovery mode and you should be good.

@justin6999 that is the reason it will not activate. You need a SIM card from a valid carrier then connect to iTunes to activate it. What iOS did you downgrade to? 3.1.3?

@justin6999 search google and download Sn0wbreeze v1.5.2 and download it. This will allow you to create a custom IPSW 3.1.3 firmware and will "Hacktivate" your iPhone. When you go thru the setup process Click on “Yes” when Sn0wbreeze asks you “Do you want to activate your iPhone?” for hacktivation. I had 4.0.2 did exactly what you said, then when you cut yourself off during the iREB section and skip to iTunes. I choose iPhone 3G. My iPhone doesn't move!.

@BKPnD If this did not work I would not have made a tutorial. Just becuase U can't get it to work does not mean it does not work. U are doing something wrong. The 3g iPhone is by far the EASIEST device to downgrade. Why? because it has no ECID. So you do not even need to have you SHSH on cydia and you do not need to alter the hosts file. All you do is get a old firmware download it, put your device in DFU mode and retore it in iTunes. Get error(1015 or 1003) then kick your 3G out of recovery.

Is it really accurate when cydia says that you have saved your shshs file on it? i read comments that some people can't downgrade their idevices even their shshs were saved on cydia or tinyumbrella.

@darkseed06 If you see in cydia.. This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS/iOS 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2 0r any of the 3.0 versions your SHSH blobs should be saved. Can I promise that is the case no I cannot. However it is VERY rare for you to see that on your iPhone in cydia and Not have you SHSH blobs saved. I say you are good to go in my expert opinion.

@kavak1975 Is this a Trick question!? iOS 4.0.2 cannot be Jailbroken yet. The latest version that can be jailbroken is 4.0.1 So if you really have a iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0.2 it is not possible for you to have cydia on your iPhone 4 device since it cannot be jailbroken!
SO if the issue is you have a new iPhone 4 out of the box with iOS 4.0.2 you will not be able to downgreade to 4.0.1, sorry.

I just got my iPhone4, it arrived running 4.0.2 firmware. I'm just going to be patient and wait for the next jailbreak for my device. For any one who has questions about shsh blobs or saving them to sauriks server, you really should start Googling the key words and reading up on it. It may seem like a foreign language at first. But learning this stuff will help you understand these videos and soon you will be a pro at this. Thanks for posting this video! :)

I found out that you right click and take ownership of the hosts notepad by going to the place where he went apart from dont type the \hosts\ part just remove it and right click on hosts and take the ownership and u can save it :)

@facanal I just tested the RecBoot link in my description and then scrolled to the bottom of the article and choose the "You can download it from here: RecBoot Intel (188596)" link and it worked on all 3 of my computers.

@TheNickbourgeois if you are using iReb I would suggest using RecBoot. Because if libusb was installed it would be in your add/remove programs on your PC. IF it is not there is is Not installing. Just use RecBoot. Please let me know if you need help setting that up on your computer and please READ the "Read ME" file before using RecBoot because the current version requires a iTunes dll to be installed in the RecBoot folder.

@TheNickbourgeois You need to make sure when you downloaded the Firmware to your computer the extension is .IPSW NOT .ZIP If it is ZIP you will need to change the extension to .IPSW then try again. I hope this helps.

@facanal Please Read the description. iPhone 2g,3g,3gs can use ireb, iPhone 4 use RecBoot. You should note in the video I am using ireb and the device I was using was iPhone 3g. I hope this helps.

How is it going reyg25atx04? i have download everything you said. But when i try and add the 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com and save, it gives me this "C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hoststxt\ you do not have permission to save in this location. contact the adm to obtain permission.
Its a work computer, but i have no restrictions.
When press shift restore and i click on the 3.1.3 file, nothing happens. Do you think it is because i can not save on the C:\windows?? thanks

Hey I'm an idiot with a 3GS an I updated to 4.0.2 be accident. After I upgraded my iPhone became unjailbroken and lost cydia, so how are you supposed to get the shsh blob from cydia if cydia is removed when you upgrade to 4.0.2?

i have an iPod Touch 3G 32GB MC Modwith iOS 4.0 SHSH blobs of 3.1.3 are saved on Sauriks server. I write the IP into the hosts. Then I open iTunes and put my iPod into
DFU Mode. Then i restore with 3.1.3. Then my ipod is in recovery mode but the firmware is intalled and then i can use RecBoot to leave recovery Mode?

Everything worked great except at the end when I tried to resync my iphone to Itunes. It told me that my os is too old and needed to be upgraded. What do I do? How do I get it to sync up with my backup?

@edge2win2 The reason is because your last backup before you downgraded was with the New iOS and now that you are on a old OS the backup file does not want to work on the old OS. It might be a little late now but usually I recommended before upgrading to any new OS you save a backup on that OS. Then upgrade. Then wait a day and save a backup while on the new OS. This allows you to have a backup for both the older OS and the New iOS.

@edge2win2 (for Windows PC) While you iPhone is connected to your PC via the USB cable open iTunes. Listed to the left you will see the name of your iPhone. Right click on that and choose restore from backup. Tap the little drop down arron on the right. Choose a date that was before you upgraded to the new iOS. It should work but I cannot guarantee all the contents of your iPhone will be there like it was when you were on the newer iOS. Hope this helps.
