“It’s like I survived a train wreck and everybody else died and my name is associated with that disaster,” says James Bidgood of his first and last film, “Pink Narcissus”. Rumors circulated that the film was by Andy Warhol or Kenneth Anger. Bidgood didn’t get any credit and didn’t want any. It was the making and unmaking of his artistic career. “Had it not been about what it was about,” he said of “Pink Narcissus,” “this person might have gotten a call from Hollywood.”
This is the most beautiful film i have ever seen.I never tire of watching it. I love the colors, story line, music, beautiful Bobby Kendall and to think: James Bidgood filmed this entire movie in his small apartment. Astounding. This is my favorite movie and the first time I watched it was with my best friend Peter Berlin. Very nice memory-that.

All the Vice Mag idiots must be getting a massive boner after seeing thise artsy-fartsy piece of crap. Just cuz he happens to be a homosexual who smokes a cigarette doesn't make it genius art.
@blindmansarrow What is there "to get"? Yeah, he's a male prostitute who's dreaming away to other (prehistoric) places. And he's "hot and gay and smoking a cig and blah blah blah". Nice one, hipster morons!
It's quite ironic (in a non-hipster way) that you happen to have "blind man" in you name. You seem like all other hipsters who are completely without a individual thought and just follow the flock like you were all in the mainstream - which you happen to have become, btw.
@testit01 to assume is to make an ass out of you. as LTopomcFly said, this is genuine beautiful art. he made this all in his apartment. these are impressive, evocative, erotic, and nostalgic sets. this has nothing to do with hipsters, mainstream, or any of those things YOU obviously are concerned with--there's no reason to believe I or Bidgood did."all other hipsters" lol. "you happen to hafve become." go read some McLuhan and Nam June Paik and come back, hun. this is cinematic art
@testit01 Firstly, he doesn't dream off to 'pre-historic' places and the story conveys its message through philosophical postulates, such as sexual aesthetics and Narcissism. This film is in no way mainstream and it took years for its recognition, why? Because homphobic bigots had the power to imprison and charge filmmakers with obscenity. If you had some form of refinement, you would immediately recognize a good film from a bad one; which, quite frankly, does not seem to be the case.
@testit01 What it do, Nephew? There is nothing grater then sex, therefore with-whom one pleases it be so, mofo! As for objectivity I am sure that your dildo is objective enough for you. Don't open your mouth unless there is food or pleasure proceeded thereon. Words to live by you fanatic fool. As for the fine wine tasting of art, thou shall not endeavor in the art of the forbidden. For knowledge is not for the profane nor neophyte. Now Hush and shush.
ah yes, art for sure. but not the art of graceful transitions, he fumbles tooo much. Shoes on while taking pants off, what's that all about? and the underwear struggle, now if I were there he'd be out of those clumsy things in a flash....lol
This film is pure art. It´s incredibly beautiful, lush: it´s all desire, glitter and even clasicism. I think it´s truly, deeply moving. a decadent classic, not only for a gay public. I think all the people who loves beauty should see this film. The song is marvellous!
this is great work...10 years ago i got this movie from an older friend ..it is really erotic and exciting stuff ...i enjoyed till one day they stole my car ...and the movie was in it...if only i could have it back ...:-)
bien que la fin soit moins grassieuse .. cela prouve que l'erotisme peut etre de l'art !!! c'est indescriptible ! mais d ou provient cette source ? c'est un scopitone ?
this young guy whos in this video wearing looks like a half shirt and shorts while laying down on that bed was looking so so damn hott and so so damn sexy from front to back of him no joke either.
Crikey! Must have been a bitch to take those tight pants off in front of the camera. How awkward! He finally got them off. Then the freaking boots. Poor kid. 5* Blessings +^+^+ The Saint
the name of this song is Thinking of You by composer Walter Donaldson. Does anybody know who is singing this version though, i must have it. please help.
i'm a straight male and i love gay erotic art. you all are so genuine with the beauty and passion. male and female's relationship on film is always so plastic. kudos, boys.
THIS is so deluxe and entertaining. Where do I get this movie? I think it's a MUST that I see it. This guy is so beyond beautiful, he in his white singlet and then later boxers. The beautiful face and his lucious eyebrows. WOAH!, come to me... Love the suroundings as well, and this music over the of this is absoloutely lovely! Cabaret and Operatic, stunning***
What a beautiful celebration of the male form. This film is absolutely stunning and Bobby Kendall is such a radiant boy.Incidentally, this is my friend Peter Berlin's favorite film.

Probably because Gaga's opinion is not necessary; Taschen and Strand have taken care of that :-)

“(I’ve grown so lonesome) thinking of you” by the Fred Rich Orchestra
DerSacred 1 month ago
@MachuLawl The version used in this film it´s the Kay kyser of 1944 vocal by Harry Babbit.

Btw, got some more recommendations? I'm more into Joseph Beuys and George Plimpton though.
