It's hard to believe how many of us long for kinship with the Cartwrights! I've always thought of Ben as a father-figure in my life. I didn't have one who cared, he just abused me. Ben would have been a great Dad! I'd have loved to have Adam, Joe & Hoss as brothers too. They always took good care any girls in the family. Even now I'd love it. The person(s) who wrote them into existance made life an incedible, safe place for me. We are all blessed! Love, Keltie Cartwright
No. I think there were so many amnesia episodes in those old westerns (Big Valley, Gunsmoke, Bonanza) that I conflated a bunch of them in my memory. However, Season 4 Episode 123 "Stranger Passed This Way" is about Hoss' bout with amnesia.
I enjoyed your video about Bonanza and the Cartwrights. I also wish I was part of the Cartwright family and moral lessons. Isn't it sad that life in the present isn't fulfilling enough at times and we look elsewhere for that? In any case it happens and I love Loren Greene and the whole cast.

Anyway, thanks for doing this. Ben would be proud.
I am so glad Ben Cartwright's Long Lost Son spoke to you and your experience. Thank you for taking the time to comment on it. It means a lot to me that the story holds meaning for those who view/read it.
I am almost crying right now because this is exactly what happened to me. I am also a cartwright brought into this world by a ben cartwright affair. While the girl in your story felt she could not be a daughter I was able to.I was a bit of a wildchild perhaps compared to the other females in the bonananza world. However what kept me from Ben was that a cartwright daughter would be beautiful...A pretty face and a lovely body. Somehow I am still struggling being a less then perfect daughter.
Yesterday, someone left a beautiful message about my story--the viewer wrote, "muy bonita historia." I stupidly removed the message--clicked the wrong tab. Please send my message back! It is such a meaningful sentiment. And forgive my slip of hand.
Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to comment on it. As I said, I wrote it as a piece of fiction--the protagonist is not technically me. But I am very interested in how many girls imagined themselves inside westerns in roles that were always filled by men. And Bonanza was definitely one of my favorite shows. Now, when I watch reruns, I am startled by its sexism. But I still have a fondness for it.
I love Bonanza too and Ben was a father figure. The show was both sexist and racist which bothered Pernell Roberts (my fav.) from what I understand...
I think you'd be surprised to know how many others have shared similar experiences. We are all Cartwrights at heart, and the Ponderosa is bigger than could ever have been captured on a TV screen. As you said so poignantly, the Cartwrights always found a way to get back home again ... and I feel sure that someday, someway, we will too.
