@rido515 You know the band Death? The lead singer, Chuck, listed Lush as one of his favorite bands. It's pretty undeniable that Lush was (and still is) an amazing band.

Look, I've been a musician all of my life (I play bass, guitar, trumpet and a little drums) and I love Rock Band.

I know the difference between fake and real instruments and it's definitely not a replacement. But for entertainment that game is great. Musicians can enjoy that game too. If I want to play real bass I will. If I want to kick back and play a music video game that is fine too.

I think the reason most kids my age would rather play rock band than an actual instrument is fairly simple and quite sad at the same time. It's because they simply can't be arsed to put any time or effort into an instrument and would rather pick up a shitty piece of plastic and play it right away. :(

This is the video that I first saw by this band a long long time ago. I miss the days when video looked like this. Really a throw back to the 60s videos. Still a great song 20 years later. Same that most people only know this group from Rock Band. Some of the best band in the 90s came from the UK.

How is it a shame? I heard of Lush through Rock Band, and after I researched them, I was exposed to a whole new genre of music: Shoegaze, which is actually now my favorite form of music.

I'm really glad I found out about Lush. A vast majority of my favorite music is from the 80's and 90's, and I was born in '91.

It's a shame because people that were born in the last 20 years will never be able to just discover most great bands like them naturally on the radio or on MTV (when they actually played videos) and can only really discover something like this on the Internet or Rock Band. In the early 90s you didn't have those things which I think made that time period and finding new music special. But, that is just the way things are going, which is sad, but what can you do? I'm logged on, too, these days.

The bigger shame is that music like this is almost impossible to come back these days. A vast majority of the music created today is complete trash, and I think you can agree with me on that. Amen to that. I still love the music of my high school years and still listen to that stuff. It went down hill after around 1998. There has been some great music in the last 5 years finally. It's not as easy because the radio and TV is not devoted to good music anymore. As much as I sometimes hate the Internet, I've found some really great new and old bands. But, I do hate Rock Band. I play real guitar and drum, so that may be why and I think more people did 20 years ago. Check out The Current.

I've actually met people that think Rock Band is just like real guitar which cracks me up. I just don't understand the appeal except to get drunk and play it. Other than that, I would rather pick up my Gibson SG, Martin, or Fender jazz bass. The Current is a great indie music station here in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area. Believe me, I've lived all around the US and they are one of the best station for music in the same vein as Lush and bands like them. And I'm not just saying that.

I've loved this song for years now and I was psyched when it appeared on Rock Band II because it'd mean one of my favorite songs would be heard by millions of people, and maybe because then, more people would appreciate Lush and other great dream pop bands. My parents mostly played classic rock and no modern stuff. Plus it's not like you heard music like this on the radio back in 1990 (just around when I was born). In fact, this Canadian station here in Detorit played Lush all the dang time (they were an alternative station long before "alternative" music became the cool thing to hear). I think this is easily the best video for De-Luxe. Larking around in an English country field on a frosty winters day. Its Lush in their time and their place. The second promo made for this is maybe more polished, but kaleidoscopic effects and whorls and flames are a bit MTV generic. If you want a little taste of late 80s/early 90s scene-that-celebrates-itself era Lush, watch this video and there they are.
