@mirrorpiece yeah, like no shit, but there isn't really that much strategy or depth in the gameplay which doesn't make it quite as good as the supreme Mother 3 (amazing game... And now I've realised I'm talking about Mother on a DQ video. Damn it).

@Guardaviewe3 Well mother WAS inspired by Dragon Warrior. I do like how your health takes a while to drop when an enemy attacked you. But yeah. I guess mother 3 perfected it. I like my battle system classic. Thats why i like Dragon Warrior and Mother. They don't do TOO much effort at keeping the system new.. which is good, because turn based gameplay is awesome. Final Fantasy on the other hand does way too much effort. Though i still love the games.

@mirrorpiece I don't think it's always a good motif to want your battle system to stay "classic", I mean in the future there'll be a lot of brilliant, new ideas in the genre and my motif is to welcome them as long as they have effort put into them. But with Mother, I didn't mind - they did really perfect the formula. Tolerance is always a good thing.

That is why FF XIII sucks, in my opinion. (Run. Press X. Rinse and repeat).

DQ V isout now. It is only DQs VI and IX that are not out yet in North America. and DQ VII is out of print unless Square Enix is planning a remake.

What are you talking about? I think its because you're looking under the name Dragon Warrior. They're called Dragon Quest in the states now, same as Japan. And there's been alot of dragon QUEST games coming out. Just look on the DS, Dragon Quest IV and V (the one this song is from) were re-released on the ds, and vi and ix is coming soon. And Dragon Quest VIII is on the PS2.

well you have all the numbered Dragon quest/warrior games for the gbc then. they only put 1-3 on it, and I guess the Monster series if that's what you wanted. 4-6 are DS, 7 was psx, 8 was ps2, and 9 is ds.

You could always play the original versions of 4-6 (4 on the nes, 5 and 6 on the snes.) the snes one are japan only though, so you'll need a translation patch.

@Ahlycks 4s port is japan only with no patch that I know of, and 1-3 on the gbc have more features. Technically I should have mentioned 1-3 on the snes as that has those same features as on the gbc PLUS better graphics. But he'd have to get a patch for that where as you can play the gbc ones on a real gbc if you can find it.

Mother is nowhere even close to as popular as Dragon Quest. In fact, Earthbound is more popular in the rest of the world than Mother is in Japan. Just thought I'd add some clarity to this.

Hello? Are you retarded or something? Dragon Quest III pales in comparison to the grand adventure of Dragon Quest VIII. They are both extremely long adventures. I played DQ3 on the NES pretty recently and I must say that it seems mediocre to me. Dragon Quest IV FTW. Dragon Quest V is kind of cliche btw. And Mother is also a better series... not just IMO either.

I don't know what's up with the Earthbound craze. The games are not VERY good, and they are far from better than Dragon Quest, whether it be musically, graphically, artistically, or gameplay. But I will say that both of them are better than all Final Fantasies past the first.

The thing with Earthbound is it has a sensibility and a style that no other RPG has. The game is downright weird and it relishes in that fact with its obtuse sense of humor.

Not to mention the final boss battle with Giygas~

@Erghest As a french, I feel happy to have played to the Mother/Earthbound games. You know, it's almost unknow in Europe (And most of the french just suck at english) . I agree with you, I love those games even tough my family and friends say it's a game for baby ! They can't understand.
