Ridiculous. I think you played this exactly as the designers planned for a top level player to. The way you progressed the medal values by the end of the first stage is nuts. Practically all bullets were shaved when possible. I didn't initially like this game because I didn't understand all the scoring criteria. This is like a text book for expert play.

personally I think they should have made the function where it gives you points for being "partially" hit into something negative as oppose to positive. And as much as I love this game...when I see it played like this...it just seems cheap and exploitative.

If avoiding all the bullets and making it to the end if your thing then go for, but once you surpass that level you find tricks like these to boost your score, nothing exploitative about playing the game the way it was meant to.

@palindrome33 No, not really. If they game designers wanted to reward you for partially putting a little hit-box into to a string of little orange orbs...it's really quite lame if you think about it. There are other things they could have implemented for rewarding risky behavior, I.E. making it more difficult to pad your score by shaving but being even riskier if the ticks were related to a ships DEF stat, taking more ticks in a row to be destroyed. that would be cool and make sense.

I just got Raiden fighters: aces today! I absolutely love Shoot 'em ups and always have ever since that day in 1998 when I first played R. type at the age of 2. There are way too many first person shooters out on the market and not enough third-person and SHMUPS!

Me too! I also orderdd Mushihimesama Futari Ver. 1.5 amd it's AMAZING. All the best shmups are japan only (region protected) like a lot of the cave shmups, so hopefully they will port them or I will be forced to buy a japanese xbox360 :-P
