Hey diggity dank dustin, I just got some boesemani rainbows from the store and they weren't the most colorful and they're still young but right when I put em in my 29 they got a lot better looking. You think there's any chance they'll look as good as yours? lol I know you got some purebreds or something haha
Give the baby tears a a go for the carpet! That eheim filter looks sweet! Been using one for a couple years and it's great , keep us updated on that model as I'm looking to up grade soon. Thanks for the videos ! Merry Xmas
Great video as usual bro. I have noticed that you don't use a whole lot of moss in your tanks. I think it would be sweet to heavily moss your 220 with some bright green moss, or even some dwarf baby tears. Then fill it in with some larger darker plants to offset the color. Good luck with your plan, pumped to see how it will turn out!
Keep it simple and plant that shit with jungle vals and something like dwarf sag. Then you can scatter some other stuff around like anubias and java fern. Once that grows in it will look like a totally natural jungle. Then you could always add some other stuff here and there to see what you like.
Merry Christmas Dustin. Dont go high tech. That is what makes you great you give all us low budget guys good ideas and input. We all cant be Takashi. LOL
Hey Dustin Merry Christmas,I think you should go for a Japanese style neatly trimmed tank and if it's too much work let it turn into an overgrown jungle. Either way it will look awesome, keep doing what your doing :D
Even though you're still figuring out what you're doing with your 220, it already looks sweet. If you stopped now, it's still a million times better than most tanks out there.
ahh lucky on free filter, i just brought a new one, dam thing was loud and not built properly so i tried to fix it and the dam thing is even worse:/ fml
As for the Family... Merry Christmas! As for the 220, How about leaving the drift wood where it is? I kinda like how it's leaning... Maybe put another piece to even out the tank, having Java fern travel up the wood and having a flowering plant or two come out the top showing off flowers? (I do like open top tanks) Some Ludwigia and Crypts stuck around and having some baby tears in the front. Just a suggestion... :)
Wow, eniem sent you one beastily filter. You could maybe make up a consumer review of the filter. You know, record the contents of the box, rate the materials, and hook it up... Show how it is doing in a few weeks and review it then. Might get more product from other companies on your doorstep... you have the their target audience here in your channel so you have value to them.
Those fish seem like they are enjoying more space to swim. Maybe you should keep it low maintenance instead of high tech and just show case the awesome fish swimming more in an open river environment. Big piece of drift wood too, like that could be in a river bottom.
Find a huge piece of driftwood with many roots. Leave the jungle val and plant rotala in the corner and ludwigia in the other corner. Place small stones along the bottom of the driftwood for looks and possibly to hold it down. Plant anubias and java fern all over the wood. Grow crypt along the edges of the driftwood.
@kaimoto65 that is sooo going to sit together! Do a Cryp Parva lowtech carpet. It will take 6months, to form, but it will work! I do C.Lucens dirt & MH +27C and it grows nutts. To be honest, I liked the massive Amazon swords in the background before, but the rule is to choose plants you love. You will have to look at them!
Congrats with filter. I'd share that filter for grow-aquariums you have. @Dustinsfishtanks you are an oldskool large tank DIY lowtech plant gower. Choose the correct plants you know really bump. Make it Duch-style: that's you. You are not that hi-tech picky japanese minigardens style. Make a Crypt Parva/Lucens carpet. Bump Java Ferns, some stem plants, anubias, Echinodous + some hardscape. Google "Entry #42: 530L Aquatic Garden" for awesome years 2000 Duch-style XL tank winner from 2000.
haha dude was like hmm lets see dustin has a lot of subs, the subscribers do what he does....if he likes eheim everyone will go buy one, lol he might have just made money by giving you one lol
bring those loaches out with a few more different types highlight those rainbows with alot of jungle vail. lay the log down flat. plant the vails in the back in small clumps with some short grass foregrounding it to keep it from growing in. makes awesome tunnel ways the rainbows and angels love.. the grow some swords on the drift wood. try to make it look like a tree root growing in the river. the use you imagination filling it in!
Drop that sucker on the 220 and use one corner of the 220 for some ludwigia. Drop some val in random spots of the aquascape to break it up. Do anubias for the lower end of the driftwood and trident and windelove for the top. Use crypts for the mid and foreground plants. You got to put some crinum under the wood to make that sucker stand out.
Do something with Rotala Sp. Green, and mix it with Rotala Rotundifolia. You should try to get matching rocks, along with a carpet plant, something like dwarf hair grass. It would make a great scape.
I would turn it into a breeder tank for the rainbows. ;-)
Google on 'Goliad Farms rainbows' and check out the link. You could start selling those with your plants to take that next step in building your aquatic empire. :-D
Eheim on the 220 because it needs it! What model would you have bought if you could of chosen? Still completely awesome of them to send you that wicked filter. That thing isn't cheap! I wish I could see you do a high-tech tank, would be a nice change!
you should bread live bearers in there or in what ever empty tank you have. you can sell the babies when they are older. that's what i will be doing as a hobby. i just started watching your videos they are amazing. keep them coming.
@Dustinsfishtanks best part of rebuilding a tank's is when your done and you did it right the first time you know! that perfect look. just like nature the aquascape must change.to the flow of the water!
@Dustinsfishtanks If you want it to sink, put in skinny metal rods to make it heavier and i also put magnets in my drift wood and stuck a magnet under the stand and it sunk
Nice work man is dope I like all your videos peace from Costa Rica.

About eheim... i sent a filter back, because it was leaking... and they said nothing yet. And it was 2 months ago. So... no more eheims for me!
