  • i saw this tour. haha. it was just fun back then. it meant a lot at the time, and it still does. a couple years before that i remember seeing The Promise Ring and Jimmy Eat World at the Skatepark of Tampa. maybe 1996?

  • ...so what genre are SDRE? I think of 'em as Emo, but some ppl seem to find the term offensive.

  • @qu1et they are

  • @qu1et i would call them prog rock (musically) because they are fairly original..maybe even prog grunge? lol

but emotional for the lyrics..and their aint nothin wrong w bieng emotional..to an extent (at some point they will control u) but yea as long as ur not cutting or tryin to commit suicide over a break-up then ur good aha..o kno teenagers are really emotional but they shouldnt loose sight of reality..skepticism shouldnt blind us..but yea sorry for the rant.SDRE is just a good original band

  • yeah the song 8 comes out in batman forever soundtrack.and i never noticed until i saw it again.... :P thanks..to whoever mentioned it.

  • the boston show was so good. i was so into it i forgot to take pis

  • Alot of people dont remember but they were on the Batman Forever soundtrack. The song was only in the movie for a minute or two but they were on there.

  • that was literally my favorite song as a kid.....I pressed rewind and play so many times on the tape that I accidentally recorded over parts of the song (and other songs on the tape)...fortunately it was a copied tape

  • another thing about this band is that every band member is one of the nicest dudes you could ever meet. totally personable and friendly people.

  • did they ever play anything live off of the pink album?

i want them to play waffle live when i see them............

  • what do you mean when you see them........ARE THEY DOING SHOWS AND I MISSED IT!??!?!?!?!!

  • They got back together in June and their tour startes in late September I think. Look up Sunny Day Real Estate Tour Dates on Google and you should find them. Tickets are selling out fast though.

    : )

  • More like faster than fast. I got my usual e-mail alerts from TicketBastard informing me of the L.A. show the day before the public onsale. What they neglected to do, was inform me of the PRESALE date, so, I figured there wasn't one. By the time I logged-in at TB the following morning, everything was long gone.

  • Oh, that's too bad.

  • Damn Good, Oh So Amazing! And That Is In Fact, NOT Nate Mendel On Bass, It Was A Guy Named Jeff Palmer Who Was In The Band For About 5 minutes(He Played On The Wonderful How It Feels... Record) The Best Band Of The 90's, And 2000's!

  • actually, best band ever...

  • Yes connorhalsell, I Stand Corrected, Best Band Ever! My Favorite, And I hear Rumors That They May Be... Fingers Crossed, Fingers Crossed

  • Fingers crossed that Nate will be in this one... well, ok maybe that's asking too much

  • he will be

  • I love the vocals that he adds to the final part on the live versions.

  • they still had Nate here- listen to the old stuff and you'll realize how pivotal Nate was to the melody of that band.

  • Are you sure that's Nate?

  • I think Nates been with the Foo Fighters consistently since he arrived

  • BTW, this venue, the Moore Theater, was featured in an episode of Ghost Hunters. It is supposedly haunted, although the Ghost Hunters found no evidence when they were here.

  • Fucking Amazing! So Good, It Brings A Tear To My Eye. I Wish I Was At This One! Just The Best Band!

  • I was at this show. Amazing. I have a video of it, too, but this was recorded from a different angle. Thanks for posting this.

  • Hey, I remember you from the Foo Fighters BBS. How are the drum views on you video? These seems to be a great show and I like watching the drummers plays (I'm a drummer, too). Thanks.

  • The video I have is just a very slightly different angle. The views are pretty close to this, although you can see a little more of the snare I think on mine. I'm also a drummer. Goldsmith was a huge influence on me. I'll never forget that night.

I saw them again at the same theater in Oct. or Nov. that year when they returned, and that show was even better. But this was special because it was their first show in almost four years.

  • Very nice! I didn't know that this was their first "reunion" show! Is that video that you have circulating on the Internet? I can't find any SDRE shows online. Anyway, Dave Grohl is the drummer who influenced me the most (the first song I tried to learn on the drums is "Marigold"), but I've since expanded my horizons. William is one of my favorite drummers, too, now.

  • I've always loved William in every band he's been in. Great drummer, but he really shined in SDRE.

The video was circulating on the net in '98 back when I first got it. I'm sure there's lots of SDRE stuff out there for trade if you know where to go. The Fire Theft message board might be a good place to start, if it's even still there. There's definitely a lot of people with a lot of shows on audio and video, but where they've gone in the last few years I'm not sure.

  • Oh, just to clarify, I didn't record the video myself. I traded for it online. So, yeah, the video I have should still be in circulation somewhere.

  • Thanks for replying. I'll check there.

  • You suddenly hear a big YEAH! once the riff begins...

    SDRE is amazing.

  • ooh! haven't seen this before!

  • I love Enigk and Goldsmith
