I remember this. Originally I liked the Lion Voltron series, but after watching several episodes, I grew to like the vehicle Voltrons series. The plots were much more realistic and seemed to cater more to a young adult crowd. No fairy tale plots with magic. It was more politics and military strategy, struggle for survival and peace. Plus, vehicle Voltron was more hulking, had more weapons and cool moves. Fleet Commander Hawkins (Peter Cullen) was an excellent leader.
