  • No matter which way your throw me, I will continue to run.

  • Long live Mannin!!

    Free Celtic Countries!

  • the isle is a protectorate of jolly old England!!

  • The Isle of Man would never join England, after all it once was a Scottish island and is more closely linked to Scotland via language and culture than any of the other Home Nations.

  • The Isle of Man For the Win!

  • @Blackrapperable Legend tells of a Lord who governs over the spiritual aspects of the Island. His name is Mannanan, hence Isle of Mann -> Isle of Man. When the island is covered or surrounded in fog, we say Mannanan has cast his cloak upon us.

  • @Blackrapperable because parts of its inhabitants are mans :P

  • they have stolen the emblem of sicily!

  • @mercedesSlk666 actually, no. This is a form of a celtic Triskelion. It's not actually the same as Sicily's emblem, because our triskelion is armored, symbolising the norse viking history of the island.

  • This is the Isle of Man National anthem, not a regional anthem

  • can someone tell me what do the 3 legs represent?

  • @MightySerbianFighter A country with a well-endowed male population?

  • @abola2121 oh are you menish?

  • @MightySerbianFighter 'Wherever you throw it, it will stand'

  • @Leekduck Quocunque Jeceris Stabit.

  • IF it does happen (which I doubt) it would either be independence, or "join" England. The fact is we are pretty much independent in that we have a seperate government anyway, but we are "property" of the queen, so I doubt that would change.

  • @Person012345 Actually, I love being on the property of The Queen.

  • @Person012345 and what is what you prefer?

  • Basically, I doubt much that things would change. We are not part of the UK, so wouldn't really be DIRECTLY affected is my guess. Though things may change in other ways, that is anybody's guess.

  • they would have to stay with England because it like the channel Islands, they are the personal property of The Queen

  • i very much dought cornwell will become independant as most of the people are from england as for the independance of the other countrys it will be a very long time if ever maybe scotland will one day but of all the people that care england cares the least it will have its own goverment again

  • keep sponging of England if its to have any future at all

  • Inevitable? Canada's more likely to be invaded by the US and its population deported to Disneyland before your little fantasy for the British isles happens.

  • donde has encontrado esta version?

  • this flag has been around for the last 1000 years it is not gay it is a viking simbul wich means witch ever way you throw me i shal stand

  • but then that means you are upside down right?

    It makes sense though!

  • no it means were the right way up witch ever way you throw us nomater wat way you turn it its up

  • Quocunque Jeceris Stabit.

    Triskelions ftw.

  • Don't bother explaining to Gutsyndicate. He posted a comment on Irish national anthem asking if the flag was the Indian one. He's just a troll. lol

  • I am against the monarchy, but let's face it, it's not going away for at least a while is it?

  • Um, why would the EU waste it's time geting it's self into a war for the sake of forcing the Isle of Man to join it in the first place. Like you said it's population is small, i just dont see the point, it would smear shame and a bad name all over the EU aswell wouldent it, invading a peacefull nation because it wanted to stand indipendant o.O

  • Yes, and Liverpool and some of the extreme northern counties!

  • Nor are the Channel Islands in the EU. But how long before they're forced?

  • The isle of man will never join the EU, it will become independent if it has to. It's not going to give over 1000 years of independent parliament to a bunch of unelected EU commissioners.

There's a reason why it's not part of the EU, because it doesn't want to be.

  • As I said, there is nothing to stop the EU militarily forcing it.

If it does, do you really think the US is going to get into a long drawn out war it can't win, for the sake of a tiny island with less than 100,000 people?

  • ROFL please tell me that was a joke.

'there is nothing to stop the EU militarily forcing it.'

Er...the british military might have a say in the matter. We pay them to protect us.

And do you REALLY think the EU is going to invade foreign soil just to control the isle of man?

I can think of much better targets, can't you? (hint: those with oil reserves).

  • Yeah, because Britain really has the military might to beat off all of the EU, doesn't it.

  • Yes, it has enough nuclear warheads to destroy every city in the EU. Or didn't you know that?

It could wipe out the majority of the population of France, germany, italy and holland within 30 minutes of pressing the button.

That MIGHT make them think twice.

  • On the whole "EU invading us" thing, ain't gonna happen.

    1. Would be starting a war with the UK, a nuclear armed country with a decent, if currently overstretched, military. Over an island with 80,000 odd people.

    2. Would be bad for their reputation. As someone else said, invading a small democratic country because it wanted to remain independent?

On the point of the US helping us, the U.S. don't even like us, why would they? Then again, it could Constitute an attack on British soil, FORCING...

  • them into helping us (under NATO, after all, a number of NATO countries helped them in Afgahnistan after 9/11, because they were forced to). Also, I believe NATO has first refusal in conflicts, so any country not specifically rejecting it, and forming a new alliance with other ones that did, would be forced onto our side.

Point is, it sure as hell would not be worth it for a small Island in the Irish Sea...

  • The best they could really do is lean on the UK, who could lean on us, but still if we want to remain independent, we will.

  • Wat are you talking about mate USA loves the UK. Me i love England the most.

  • @TheIceman567: That would be a fair point if I was talking about the UK. At the time of writing (not sure if it's changed by now) the U.S. government was not too fond of the Isle of Man.

  • @maureenOWW Fun fact: Mann is not independent. ^_^

  • It's not in the UK
