  • i understand everything...love you forever and ever and ever and ever....

  • will the younger fair (gwendolyn?) meet her handsome knight again in this life? she was his true love for four years...he didnt notice her until she was older but he fell in love with her also..she was to marry him and go away to his homeland...but being a noblewoman, the father would not give his consent, she was on an island in ireland not taken over...she was the village gem...

  • the song goes deeper than satin sheets...it's his soul talking about a past life where love was lost and can be found in this life...she is younger again than him by around 10 years and is across the ocean...will fair gwendolyn? meet her knight in this life...can they ever be together?

  • He is SOOOOOO handsome

  • Tonight I saw the Moody Blues at Red Rocks. Incredible.

  • And where is the flute solo? The censor cut out long ago?:-)

  • Timeless, Priceless, Great; After all these years it does Not get "OLD", ever.....

  • Epic!

  • The best band of the past 40 years! Just listen to how they have adapted over the years and their lyrics still remain relevant today.

  • Romeo

  • Im so in love with his voice,Its like angels to me,I have loved this song since i was very little, and i didnt realise how gorgeous he is,and still in older age,handsome....

  • @originaljawz the 60's were amazing but hellish at the same time. I was 17 when this song came out. Loved it then, love it now. There was a lot of pain, suffering, death in the 60s. Some of the angst of that time came through in song, some of it in other ways. I miss the 60s. I miss all those I have lost from that time. In some ways, this song makes me very sad, but it still gives me goosebumps. Glad you like the music from that time; it was incredible. Peace.

  • A nice song played in a nice city

  • ...and than the tanks came

  • C'était une des chansons favorites de mon défunt Père. Je t'aime Papa.

    Steph

  • i feel sorry for today's kids who're being forced to grow up with crappy music .. crappy world affairs ... wars .. famine ... pollution ... I was lucky to catch some of the purity of the 80's ... but the 60's were golden .. the only true golden age of the world ...

  • Justin is just downright beautiful in every aspect!! And what a voice and personality to match!! Wow!! His voice sends shivers down my spine!! Phenomenal!! I love it!! ILY Justin!! The Moody Blues forever my friends!! ♥

  • Nights in White Satin is one of Moody Blues signature sound. I don't think any one who appreciate beautiful music will ever get tied of it. Thanks, Justin and your group have contribute timeless sound for everyone to enjoy.

    Cheers!

  • If any song has the capacity to expand the conciousness of humanity, then this is it! It has a way of connecting us to out inner being, and at the same time allowing us to fully experience the awesome nature of the infinite spiritual realm that surrrounds us.

  • i just crying. i don't know how to say. very fantastic music and song.

Justin has the voice and the looks of an angel!

and that is definitely the coolest shirt ever♥

  • E mails I've written,,never meaning to send.

  • I am returning to Prague in april 2010 for the second time. I love this place

  • Great song.

  • its form Prague, i´m living here... :) Moody Blues !!! :D

  • it says prague czechoslovakia but the intro guy is speaking french. u must mean france instead of czechoslovakia

  • French? I thought German but Idk?

  • temazooooooo

  • I once read that the invasion of Prague in 1968 came after the excuse that Prague, from all the satellite cities, was the one most visibly "easing into a steady path of Western decadence" that could set a bad example for the other satellite countries... Case in point - this video serves as an example. Too bad they had it cut short.

  • I was born the year that this song came out. And I remember growing up listening to it as my mother played the album over and over. This band is one of the best ever, and the bands today can't hold a candle to great music like this.

  • Who knew forty years later these guys would still be rocking this song and it would sound just as haunting and beautiful and Justin' s rendition would be just as great.

  • Its great, it sorta has that medieval feeling to it, I remember hearing it as a kid, and thinking, "wow this song must be ten centuries old, and it is one of my favorite songs.

  • Its a lovely rendition of the song indeed one of THOSE SONGS we rem forever and always txs so much Yonderboy!

Dzięki Marcin you mentioned the vid shot just b4 the 1968 invasion of Warsaw pact armies. I didnt know it was made THEN, just b4

Younderboy and Marcin, i wish you many good days and Merry Christmas to all those commentary authors too

    krysana, Torun, Poland

  • I saw this video for the first time about 2 years ago. I was very surprised that such footage existed. "Nights in White Satin" is such a beautiful song and the fact that this video was shot in Prague a day before the Warsaw Pact invasion makes it even more emotional. Someone here said that he would have loved to hear the Czech singer Marta Kubisova sing this song - I think that would be indeed awesome.

  • something like the song the symbol of the Czech revolution in 1968...

  • I thank you for your comment. I plan to go to czech in april again. I would love to retire there.

  • Very nice country! I live here from 1 1/2 year in Brno. :)

  • I had visited my fiancee in Prague,Czech republic in Jan. 2009 and I must say I fell in love with Czec republic. It is the most beautiful country I had seen. I plan to return there after my fiancee and I marry.

  • It is I am in the same opinion!

  • a mix of german and french, still beautiful no matter what language.

  • Wow, where is this?! It's beautiful!

  • Prague....Chech Republic.........TOP CITY....

  • "Some try to tell me thoughts they cannot defend."

"Just what the truth is I cannot tell any more."

This performance was just before the invasion.

  • Atlanta Georgia is a cesspool. Minority heaven...Crime and welfare, just what the socialists want...lmao

  • What a beautiful man!!!

  • before or after Soviet Union attrack to Czechslovakia in 1968?

  • Definitely before

  • 2009 i think i heard the real lyrics the instrutments are still awesome and i love you i always heard maybe it should be rereleased very love wanting thanks for posting.

  • Nights in White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon. Thank you for taking 40 years off of my life and making me melt. The Moody Blues are great!

  • Yes, Paulrw - you're right! They were awesome :)

  • 41 years ago. They didn't even try to hide the lip syncing. haha. My father has this on vinyl.. I used to listen to it w/ the big fat 1970's headphones on.

  • Det var då under åren 1967-1969 musiken fick en själ

  • I'm sorry Krone... I don't understand Svenska. =/

  • A bearutiful song on the beautiful Charles Bridge. I love my city!

  • I have been to Atlanta GA USA. Sorry, it is not 0.000001% of what Praha is. Atlanta is dirty, congested, flat land, and many poor people. It is obvious you have never traveled to Prague, or any city larger than Wal Mart.

    Sad really.

  • dprague, sorry old bean but its obvious

YOU have never been to the queen city of

south its quite scenic quite varied in terrain and much interesting architecture

  • you are funny lol ha ha ha

  • jsem hrdá že aspon jedna skvělá kapela tu v té době byla:-)

  • Nádherná písnička v nádhernym prostředí

  • what a great song

  • this song make me sad badly :(, Awesome...

  • zajebiste ta jakosc tamtych lat kurde piękne te czasy..

  • cosmic beauty

  • We've come a LONG way with video and technology since this was recorded. Thank you for sharing this. I've followed the song and its migrations and recordings for a long time...20 years now? Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you :)

  • true poetry, rap is not poetry, just sick lines to read that only show the ugly sick part of life that some call poetry.

  • To each their own I suppose, but don't be so quick to demerit or classify rap as not poetry. Words about "the ugly sick part of life" may not mean anything to you but the world to another. I think rap is most certainly poetry, poetry with balls.

  • Haunting, beautiful song!

  • hear hear well said

  • the end doesn't play on this video its the best part!!

  • Wasn't this hard core soviet union then? How the HELL did they pull this off?

    What great music history!

  • Does anybody know if there was any special reason for making this video? They had already done a video for this song before. Did they actually play a concert in Czechoslovakia or were going to do so?

  • The show was called "europarty" with french presentator Albert Reisner. A version of this show exists for 1967 and 1969.Probably this show was recorded a few days before 21 august 1968...but never aired on tv because of the events. Let's hope the tchec television saved the entire show in their archive.

  • I awlays confuse this song with Emerson Lake & Palmer's 'Lucky Man".

  • This must have been recorded during the Prague Spring. A few months later, Soviet tanks were rolling into Prague. How can you not love this piece, a very introspective love song.

  • Nights in white Satin - may be the theme song of Prague Spring?

  • 40 let výročí! Nádhera, ať žije Moody Blues a Praha.

    40. year anniversary. Wonderful, vivat Moody Blues and Prague.

  • Prague...1968...Nights In White Satin...a true gem...thanks sooo much for posting this!!

  • how beautiful is this ???

  • I adore it

  • This is 40 years old this year!

Just Amazing how this band has endured.

How they're not yet in the Music Hall of Fame

is a major concern! This song is in some many

hearts around the world; you hear it once and

never forget it!! Love you Guys!! oxoxoxox

  • the rock and roll hall of fame is a shit, i mean what does grandmaster flash there or madonna?

  • 1968?? Was this before or after Russian tanks were in the streets?

  • Just before. The footage wasn't released for a long time - or so I understand.

  • Thats fascinating. Were the reformers the ones who invited them?

  • What does the presenter say at the beginning? I think he says a few words in Czech and then he speaks in English and French. I didn't know that they made a video for this song in Prague. Were they going to play a concert in Czechoslovakia?

  • Well he doesn't say a word in czech, he tells a few words in german than english to singer and then mix of frech and german to a guitarist.

  • in french he introduce the compositeur.

  • fakt skvělá hudba ;-)

  • I'd love to hear Marta Kubisova sing this one!

  • i could play this over and over again

  • i loveee this song

  • At žije PRAHA

  • thanks. Beatiful song in beatiful city. Jsem kurva rad ze jsem cech :)

  • Thanks for you video ;) I've enjoied it :)

  • how the hell did you find this, yonderboy! incredible. !!!

  • What an incredible video clip.. ..Must have been recorded shortly before the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia.

Unreal what one can find on YouTube!

  • good driving song?

  • If you want a dictator, then vote for me, and I gaurantee I won't let you down. You will be shocked and amazed once you have a glance at my rule.

  • And to think I was 12 when I first heard this and loved it AND 40 years later I still love it - the best lyrics and composition. Thrils me each time I hear it!

  • i found you can make more money online, illegally!.. drugs, guns, protection, porn and counterfeit moody-blues cd's!...

  • Nights In White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon are the best compositions of all time and they come from just a boy. He totally left behind the entire Beatles discography with only two songs.

  • The Moodies in Prague in black and white...I can die happy now

  • This is my hubbys and my song..IT ROCKS!

  • haunting song with a sad depressing sound but still good

  • What a great song... check out my version at our channel =)

  • To think that these guys aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it is a shame.

  • thank you so much, brings lots of memories .... of this song, of love, and of my beloved Prague

  • I love this...many good memories. A lot of meaning there.

  • My father loved this song!!!And I love it know!!

  • YES I Loveeeeeeee Youuuuuu!! Great Song! Thanks for sharing.

  • very rare, thank you very much. i have been to prague last year but i never thought moody blues had been there in 1968 ---adelson(aracaju, sergipe, brazil)

  • do they have aNY other really sad songs like this?

  • Melancholy Man

  • there's also dear diary

  • Do they have any with the poem at the end my god!

  • funny.

if anyone seriously thought such a musical production as this could ever be replicated outdoors, they had to be dreamers.

anyway, one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard. thanks for posting.

  • Es demasiado..

    excelente...

    gracias muchachos..

    gracias Praga

  • OOOOOOO....... how I love you... sweetheart.. hand in hand soon xXx

  • Yes please.......hand in hand very soon XxX ooooooooo how I love youuuuuuu

  • xxxxXXXX888888XXXXXxxxxx

  • what a song! Thats all I can say.

  • nice video, but from which tv show is this insert coming and when (day month) was it brodcast in 1968? i suppose before the 21 of august! the presentator seems to be Albert Reisner very famous french tv presentator from the sixties.

  • exactly today we commemorate the invasion of the red suckers - 21 aug

  • Remember that just after this concert, the Soviets rolled into Prague with 5,000 tanks and ended the 'Prague Spring'. You young people, please remember that there are evil forces that wait to overtake your freedoms and liberties. Do NOT take your liberty for granted... there may (and likely will) come a time that you will have to fight to preserve it. That is all.

  • Great video! I love when the guy says, "Un composicion de Justahn" :-D

  • I wonder if they were able to get any stuffed cabbage thru room service.

  • i was born in 1968...the lost chord

  • Lovely transition at the end there ;D

  • thanks for sharing!!

  • Prague la plus belle ville que je connais si bien !!!!

  • when i get my cd drive to work haha. i have a bunch of dvds but its useless without the cd drive

  • this is true... lol... but they do it with such style!

  • Thanks for this from San Francisco.

  • Easily one of their most Spinal Tap moments -- lip syncing away, with no amplifiers, with a crowd pretending to groove; Justin air guitaring an electric on a song where he plays acoustic on the album; no fake flute solo, though, that whole part is cut out; Justin, who despite his immense talent never fails to make me think of the Seinfeld puffy shirt episode, actually outdone by Ray's natty ascot...

Sure wish there were more actual live footage from this period...

  • Pretty funny Esse. I once read a reviewer who said(this was inthe mid 80s) that they looked like 2 over the hill musketeers(JL and JH obviously) and some guys from a pub....---still love them --glad they got over the puffy blouse stage.lol

  • i think anyone with good taste would want to share a pint with the moody blues

  • I am delighted to see this video! I was there as it was being shot 39 years ago. I am in that crowd of pople to the left of the band. I've never seen this because it was due for broadcast on Czech TV the same day the Russianss invaded. By the time it was shown a years or so later, I was in London. I actually shared a pint of beer with Justin that day. Thanks to the poster...now I need to find the rest of that show.

  • Interesting

  • Absolutely gorgeous man with a gorgeous voice!! I love and adore him a great deal!!

  • God Justin Hayward is a gorgeous man, was then and still is!

  • interesting that they dropped the flute solo...

  • Yeah, I found that interesting myself. It is pretty funny that Ray's in the video but does absolutely nothing except announce what they're performing

  • WOW...historical, as plukovnik1 says, the Russians invaded stomped down hard with the Iron Boot and that was that 'til '89...what a drag for all the music-starved kids...-"...it riles them to believe that you percieve the web they weave...and keep on thinking free...! (Intro to "Lovely to See You")

  • did this group ever sing I who have nothing?

  • yeh,so sorry for you !!!

  • NOW THIS IS A GREAT PERFORMANCE!

  • love that song!

  • sweet video sooo glad to see it

  • euro speak lol! fritalian like the dunkin donuts ads?

  • my favorite band,man

  • Is it just me, or was the announcer switching between German and French? Or am I going crazy?
