IMHO, RHP's "Song for a Blue Guitar" is BY FAR superior to Mazzy Star's "Fade into You." Although very similar, they are like the difference between a diamond and a cubic zirconia. Both are beautiful, but (for me), only one is the 'real deal'.

I agree that it does sound like "Fade Into You", but I like both songs a lot. I knew Red House Painters a looong time before Mazzy Star, though. I also like the Painters much better, too. But in all fairness, it is just three very basic chords (capo1: D,A,Em) and the chorus is different. I guess the slide guitar doesn't help much, though. Still, great songs by both. Just play them back-to-back and it's like getting the girl's view of the song, then getting the guy's view.
