Forget the fucking past - live in the now and the future!!

@wayhlan Dude, I hate spanish language and i don't say that there is a "racist" language stop with that things. And you say that they try to build a south africa "for all"?
Dude, I didnt said Afrikaans was a racist language. I said ''Afrikaans word ONTERECHT gezien als een ''racistische taal door de ANC (huidige politieke partij)
If u dont speak Dutch and the message was to a curious Dutch man of the situation of the language Afrikaans I dont see why u even bother try to read what I did wrote.
But since you wasted your time on this I would translate it for you
Afrikaans is seen INCORRECTLY as a ''racist language'' by the ANC. there
translation is pretty good, just one word - at 2.17 you say "hate", listened to it a few times, I think he is saying "hart" - heart in Afrikaans. Nice vid, thanks!
There is some slang in this song, and a bit of word substitution from English. Not purist Afrikaans, but nothing major.
Also, the game Robbie sings about is actually the 1995 final against the New Zealand All Blacks, where the Boks won 15-12. In the game against (Western) Samoa, the Boks won 42-14.
is there a specific cultural or sports reference to this song? Or is it about a drinking competition a man and his son in law have during the rugby competition?
I love it to hear a decent song in the *dutch* language. Seems like overhere they can only use it for schlagers and childrens songs.
Hi Jason. It is about 2 different events, namely during the 1995 Rugby World Cup game between South Africa and Samoa, and another 2007 world cup game. During the 1997 game the son-in-law hit uncle Lourens when they had an argument about not supporting the Boks. In 2007, uncle Lourens prepared himself by watching Rocky 1-5, and then revenged the humilation of 1997.
It's easy for Dutch people to understand Afrikaans when reading it (well it is for me anyway). It's harder to understand when hearing it. Could someone please post the lyrics in Afrikaans? Thanks
@EeuweB Hey EeuweB, glad to see you updated the video with the translation. If you need help with the Afrikaans lyrics, let me know. I haven't been on youtube lately, but will be happy to assist.
For Dutch people Afrikaans is easy to understand when reading for... it's harder to understand when you hear it though. Could you please post the lyrics in Afrikaans.
7) Just before the Stem and Nkosi, Brent feels a bit faint. He feels nauscious and there's sweat in his hair. And the last survivor is laughing in his sleeve, he hits Brent so that he falls on his back. On his back.
6) There is tangible tension in the air. Uncle Lourens welcomes everyone back. Its 2007, his lip starts quivering when Brent shows up wearing a Western Samoa jersey. "How about a shooter, my old friend", uncle Lourens asks first. Up to shooter number 11, cola tonic for himself and Stroh rum for his son-in-law, Brent. It is World Cup 2007 - there is excitement, socialising and life. There's Amarula cream and Kaluha, and the Boks are playing Western Samoa.
5) He thinks back to 1995: The crowd, the fires and the vibe; the Amarula cream and Kaluha; and the theme song from Rocky Balboa. He listens to Eye of the Tiger and again feels the hate; he feels the soil and the sweat in his hair. And the last survivor is laughing in his sleeve, and uncle Lourens is lying flat on his back.
4) Niekie is talking on "Radio sonder Grense" (Radio without Borders). On the photos, uncle Lourens looks at the people. He draws circles around Brent, and thinks back about the cement, against his teeth, nose and jaw. "In my house you don't support whoever you want. I'll rip out your adam's apple, so you can't shout any longer. And after the argument, oom Lourens hits the cement, and the Boks win 15-12.
3) And he thinks back to the argument with his son-in-law Brent: "Uncle can shout as you like, I'll support whoever I want to. Its a free country, and you are not my father". He thinks back to 1995: The crowd, the fires and the vibe; the Boks, the Irish and Somoa; and the theme song from Rocky Balboa. He listens to Eye of the Tiger and again feels the hate; he feels the soil and the sweat in his hair. And the last survivor is laughing in his sleeve, and uncle Lourens is lying flat on his back.
2) He listens to Eye of the Tiger and again feels the hate; he feels the soil and the sweat in his hair. And the last survivor is laughing in his sleeve, and uncle Lourens is lying flat on his back. Wearing his boxing shorts, his bath robe and his cap he dances on his bed to Eye of the Tiger. On TV is Rocky 3, with his eyes on Mr T, he gets angrier and angrier and angrier.
1) Uncle Lourens has never really been fit. If you ask him what makes him happy, he says "Nothing". His always in his place, always a little bit drunk. He likes biltong and dry wors, and rugby. But yesterday, something started brewing - he went jogging, and cycling, and rowing. Exactly ten days before the Boks play Western Samoa, a parcel arrives with Rocky Balboa 1-5. He thinks back to 1995: The crowd, the fires and the vibe; the Amarula cream and Kaluha; and the theme song from Rocky Balboa.
Hey EeuweB, since you ask nicely I'll translate/paraphrase the text - no real attention to grammar, though :-). Some Afrikaans metaphors don't make sense translated directly to English.

Hi Euweb
Minute 1:08
The words that is sung is :
Hy luister "eye of a tiger" en hy voel weer die "hope"
Translation reads
He listens to Eye of the tiger and again feels the hate.
I think the translation should be
He listens to eye of the tiger and feel the hope again (not hate)
but in context ,hate is more in contenxt to the story that he tells about brent.
I love this vid

I realised I made an error in the translation, there is a word I didn't hear correctly in the song, in the chorus:
"He listens to Eye of the Tiger and again feels the hate" should be "He listens to Eye of the Tiger and again feels the hit/shot."

Are you sure it's :Presies 10 dae voor die Bokke and not : Presies 10 dae vir die Bokke
I was under the impression it should be vir

@cassieboy - Yes, it is 10 dae voor. It means 10 days before the game, as in 10 days before the Boks played Samoa.
"Vir" means "for". "Voor" means "ahead of" in this context.
