No where in the quran does it say the world will end in 2012. Only Allah knows. And there is a possibility that the world will end in thousand years from now!
can you spot the quran whenever it talks about end of world, it always finnishes at 14:34 meaning 1434 or simply 2012. That means Mahdi is died in 1320. 1920 and Jesus died roughly 1399.

@Cybron You are being evasive and deliberately misleading , the question is about Islamic penalty, no about the Qur'an text, on most Islamic countries with a Sharia judiciary system the Apostasy penalty is death, occasionally commuted to jail until the apostate repents, few Islamic scholars and religious authority are actually against the death penalty, most of them support the killing, if as a Muslim you are against this barbarism I commend you but this would make you an exception

Christianity went through it at abut the same period. Fact is, the Koran does support the death penalty. You can twist the words of any written material rather easily, I say its a test from God. The Quran is the main source of Islamic law, and the only one all Muslims can agree upon. But anyone can twist words, the prophet said every ayah has thousands of meanings for different circumstances.

Muhammad (S) prophesied that islam would split into 73 sects BUT ONLY ONE would go to heaven, hence Allah will sentence to hell the majority of muslims. However Muhammad (S) did not specify which one is the right one, hence muslims are living in doubt.

@nicksum29 @Cybron1 is being evasive and deliberately misleading , On most Islamic countries with a Sharia judiciary system the Apostasy penalty is death, occasionally commuted to jail until the apostate repents, few Islamic scholars and religious authority are actually against the death penalty, most of them support the killing even though in fact the Qur'an doesn't prescribe an earthly punishment, the Qur'an is the main source of Islamic law but not the only one.

Let me try helping out
You are mixing, confusing TWO different events together.
1)Life on earth ends then in the heavens except Allah
2)THEN Judgement day comes by giving life back to everyone!
The Chapter of the Quran which was mentioned and you quoted out of the 'She camel' Part,speaks about all things happening when life is given back to all creatures(step 2)
She Camels are an example,because out of Allah's Justice,animals abuse towards each other would be even settled on that day

81:1 When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
81:2 When the stars fall, losing their lustre;
81:3 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage)
81:4 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended
81:5 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations)
81:6 When the oceans boil over with a swell
Again,everyone dies,then Resurrection as per quoted Quran
