@MischiefMaker37- no i dont think so. the dave coulier thing with alanis was back in the 80'-90's somewhere, he would not be old enough to date linda.im sure if you googled the song you might find if she is talking about a certain someone or not
This song brings me back to early 1976 and breaking up with a no good boyfriend. Thanks for the memories and I agree, an up-all-night visual was perfect for this song, especially since you don't sleep well at all when you go through a hard breakup.
@vaaredman I know the feeling, I went through a very rough breakup. My ex fiance cheated on me with 4 other guys and now she is having another kid with one of those 4 she cheated on me with, so this song perfectly describes her. She is no good.
this song reminds me of my dad taking off all the time when i was little. hey i cant change my dads attitudenor would i be so inclined to. i like this song nonetheless. not all of my memories are peachy cream,a lot are though, i had great childhood friends.. thats life . abig box of chocolates?
Notice, no one's tried to remake this one. I don't think it could be done. Kinda like when Gloria Estefan remade Carol King's "It's too late." It was ok, but it just doesn't hold up to the original. Ronstadt's "No Good" ain't the original, but it is better.
I love that the last 2/3rds of this song are all about emotion, expressed through guitar soloing. You pretty much have to admit that Andrew Gold is the co-lead-vocalist here.
Vocally and sensually, a find performer, but she never wrote her own material. I would say a great interpretative artist. What would Gov. Brown recall about her?
@NickRatnieks; You're absolutely right ! He was one of the underestimated-underappreciated guitarists of that period. His ability to turn it on when summoned is impressive.
my father's band played this when i was a kid. singer was named Denise. she was this good (from memory; i'm now in my forties). every time i hear this i wish i was twelve again.......
I am pretty sure that Cissy Houston did the back up for Linda on this track.

That last minute of this song alone could've been even longer, and there also could've been a similar motif at the start of the tune.

When Van Halen did this for Van Halen II, I was so glad the boys did it differently, not copying Linda. Then again, both versions are wonderful.

This particular movement ... the bass track could easily be done with a Minimoog synthesizer.

Linda gave this song, much respect. Don't forget: Ms. Betty Everett. She did this song FIRST! Linda did it kindness.

It's the Chicago lakefront. Has nothing to do with Ronstadt or this song except that it has kind of a "been-up-all-night" feeling.
