@amphoteres All 6 of the photocells should be responsive with 3 split of into each side of the stereo pair. If you connect it to a mono amp though it will act as if just 3 are responding. Glad you like it btw.
Thanks man. Yeah a couple more varieties, warring angels and screaming demons. warring angels is like this one but with triangle waves, screaming demons is just mixed (not modulated) square waves. I think they sound different enough to justify building them all.
Yeah I really like the way Warring Demons turned out, sounds really aggressive! Screaming Angels has more of a haunting quality I think. I've recently found schematics on how to make simple filters and other cool stuff, just got to find time to experiment with it all.
you gotta love DIY, i've got all these ideas for controllers and little noise makers that are just waiting for me to know enough to build, it's kind of hard teaching youself however!
Yeah I know what you mean. I started electronics when I was a kid but had a long break, have taken it up again just to make noise makers. I can send you a bunch of audio electronics links if you'd like. Speaking of controllers, I keep meaning to run 2 optical theremins into my soundcard and use a pitch to midi cc plugin to use them as contollers. Should be pretty good I reckon.
the optical theremin sound card thing is a good idea!, the other day i was thinking just how cool it would be to have a couple of LDR's on a board sending CV to a modular synthesizer.
That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking except cv modular stuff is a bit beyond me just yet (both in terms of money to buy one and knowledge to build one!) so I opted for the super simple approach. I'll do a vid unless there's a better one on here. Hope you got the links.
thanks for the awesome kit. Are all photocells responsive or just 3 of them? Its sounds great regardless. just wondering.
