Notice she didn't talk about where the album debuted in the USA? That's because they're too dense to even understand the depth, skill, and musical ability of a musical ensemble who makes their top stars look like shit sniffers and butt tonguers. Lady GAGa? Snoop Dogg? Bruce Springsteen? OH PUHLEEEEZZZ! Too many Americans managing the musical world when they can barely manage to take a proper shit.
@Just1Micky Lol, obviously you don't know RUSH very well! The old drummer, John Rutsey was only there for their first album, also called Rush. Before they even started touring for that album, they changed John Rutsey for Neil Peart. Therefore, their second album, Fly By Night, was made by Neil Peart, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee! :)
'We asked Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson how they were able to be in the band for so long without member changes' - After showing a clip of them performing Flight By Night with their old drummer, before Neil Peart had even joined. Bad directing lol?
Fuck the Hall of Fame - Rush is better then anyone in that crappy hall. Rush got their Star in Hollywood (I was there for that) and they have the most loyal following and the biggest range of fans from the very old to the very young with new fans being born all the time. Rush is timeless.
"Proving that their fans are as loyal as any in the industry"
No. it proves that their music is accessible beyond their core fans. Metallica's albums don't do as well despite "their loyal (and far more numerous) fans." It's because their music sucks. Rush's has only improved over time.
EVERYONE wants the newest Rush album when it comes out.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a sham, and a joke, and are just a bunch of glad handing yes men reacting and acting only when the Nielsen ratings and record sales warrant an induction. They have no idea what Progressive Rock music is. Abba and Madonna are in on the first try, but bands like Yes and Rush have never been nominated? It's a joke, and I think that Geddy and the guys should decline the offer just on basic principles. And why in the hell is it in Cleveland and not Detroit?????????
@Blogalicious i got in an argument/debate online with someone claiming that grand funk railroad was the best power trio, i tried set them straight, but to no avail. im signing and posting it...thanks

I've read, I believe it was Geddy Lee, who said the band doesn't care if it's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and if they, as they band, don't worry about, why should I as a fan? I know how good they are... the band's longevity and consistent sales over a 35-year period speak of how appreciated it is... its awards over the years show the public's at-large appreciation. If it happens, Rush will have its "Limelight." If it doesn't, it's the music biz's fault.
@ThatKrookedVulture Because Jann Wenner, founder of Rolling Stone and the RR Hall of Fame, is an egotistical douchebag who personally dislikes Rush. That's why they will never be inducted.
despite what anyone says, i think snakes and arrows is a great album. they could have slowed down and started sucking, but instead they keep changing their style and evolving even though they're in their 40's and 50's. crazy.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fucks are a bunch of flamers. This band should have been inducted YEARS ago. They have inducted so many no bodies and yet this band is ignored. Only two bands have had more consecutive gold and platinum albums...the beatles and the rolling stones. WTF HOF? Correct a wrong and quit being assholes.
See what happens when you stick too your music and dont make in the hall of fame, you stay together for for almost 40 years. They have lasted longer than 90% of bands and 70% of marriages. In my humble opinion Rush should RUN the rock n roll hall of fame, seems they are doing something right. I am glad they aren't in it and could care less if they ever get into that lame representation of god music. I didnt get into Rush cause I wanted to win some school popularity contest, and thats all that is!
There are a LOT of great bands NOT in the Hall... Rush is just one. Heart, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Kiss... but yet, Depeche Mode is in. Tells me that Rolling Stoned Magazine is running that mess.
@davework13 fucking Depeche Mode is in the fucking hall of fame? Don't get me wrong... I like Depeche Mode but to even mention them getting in before RUSH let alone LET them in before these guys, well.. I'm with everyone else in this thread. Fuck the R&R HOF.
I don't think a Hall of Fame induction would do anything for them. Their joy comes from their loyal fans. I saw them last year and was lucky to be in the second row. Some lady in front of me sneezes. Alex plays around and pretends he is wiping her sneeze off his shirt, then goes and gets a Kleenex and hands it to her, all the while never losing a beat playing. These guys are class acts.. and funny!
Although I am a fan of their "Older" material and don't like their newer stuff (post-87), I am still a great fan. What makes me angry is these 70s bands are going on tour in the new millennium, Rush was the only big 70s band fighting the Pop phase, Grunge phase, etc. Now that 70s rock is somewhat coming back bands like van Halen are saying "Hey, let's go on tour." They should pay homage to Rush for being the only band fighting the battles in the 90s.
thats why thear not in the rock and roll hall of fame thear slackers that don't want a real job just hanging out making records with your childhood buddy how lazy can you get JUST KIDDING RUSH IS THE POUND FOR POUND GREATEST ROCK BAND IN THE WORLD
Yeah, before I saw the "fan" side of you comment I was going to say, go jump off a cliff a**hole, but since you were just kidding, high-five dude, Rush kicks a**, I think Rush and The Beatles are the only two band dedicated to music, clean lyrics, and good songs.
They are in several hall's of fame as a group and as indaviduals[they werer even awarded the order of Canada] So there not in some little hall in the states....who cares
@irishpat1000 your right R&R hall of fame is not worthy of rush it's like how much is a grammy worth after they gave the first Metal grammy to jethro tull the year of mitallica's black disk jethro tull Isn't even metal
@sirlonghair - Yeah, what the hell is the sorry deal with the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?! I mean, Blondie was inducted and they didn't influence anyone. They were a mediocre new wave band at best.
There's no justice. But I don't even think the band cares, and they shouldn't.
@Colddeed If they're going to release video, they have to organize and plan for the taping. It's a lot easier and cheaper to record gigs in audio only. That's why the ASOH album is from different gigs, but the video was from one gig (Birmingham UK).
they record everything thear is no tape all digatal thear live engneer is as good at his job as anyone else is in the band is at thears he is great boy would I love to play in his toy box
Let me correct myself. Don Kirshner's In Concert is on You Tube and Neil is on the drums. I haven't seen the video since that time when I was a scatter-brained 7th or 8th grader.
Alex Lifeson answers that question the same way every time. It's a bit of a joke, but to get it you have to know how Paul McCartney answers that interview question.
I read Neil's biography "Ghost Rider". To correct drumaonhigh, Neil's daughter (and only child) died in a car accident, and his wife died of cancer 10 months later. Not only that, then his fcking dog of many years passed away not long after that. Just a brutal time of his life. He took a hiatus and drove from Canada all the way down Calif coast thru the baja of Mexico and back all by himself. Excellent book and should be read by all Rush fans.
we also gave him a vinly poster that my dad made at his banner shop. that stinks he was camping with his friend though... that would have been cool if he was there.
i got a private tour on neils bus when i saw the bus in a seafood resturaunt and i yelled at my dad to stop. so we went into the resturaunt and saw the bus driver. then we asked if we could see the bus and he said okay. so that was cool. (this was 2nd to last concert they have played so far, which was in atlanta for the 2008 S&A tour and the bus driver told us about some of the rumors they have been talking about another tour in 2010. so im excited. but i wasnt able to meet neil. he was camping
They are taking some time off to rest after their mega S&A tour. They have stated recently that they will probably be writing some stuff later this year and with a album and tour to follow. I really really hope this happens.
I hope so, I just happened to get into Rush during the S&A tour(and they will always be my favorite band!!!), so I haven't got to go to a concert, but I think it would be one of the best moments in my life.
Great, I hope they do! I haven't been able to see them live, I recently got into them ( about 2 years ago) but didn't realize at the time they were on tour. sucks, hopefully they will come to Nashville or TN for that matter so I can see them.
To be more exact, after his wife and daughter died they didn't want to have him do the "meet and greets" because he would have to endure the same questions over and over... So with S & A they left him out on purpose to spare him.
They both died in car accident, then neil had to take a break he then traveled for 4 years on a motorcycle. Then one day he went into the recording studio after 4 years and was playing better then ever.
Cause he's the most Kickass person and drummer ever.
he doesn't do meet and greets at all for that reason, but rushnm8 is right he really didnt do many interviews in the first place, but he still does a few that are mostly private
Have they? Hm. I haven't seen anything about that on their website...maybe I need to look harder. Are there any sources you know of, maybe a video somewhere?
i didn't know Neil Peart lost his wife and daughter. that's so sad when you hear tragedy strikes, even in the rock world there is emotion no matter what you do. but I'm glad to see rush's new album is one of the top sellers on the mainstream charts, they had talent, and they always and forever will.
Vapor trails was the first album since Presto that I liked every song on it. Snakes and Arrows reminds me of Test for Echo and Counterparts. Same production sound with a couple of good tunes but mostly filler b-side sounding tunes. Vapor Trails lacked the good production sound of Rush's other albums to make it a perfect album. Still great though. I wish they would re-release it with all new production sound.
My favorite Rush music was all of their stuff from 1980 up to (and including) Counterparts, and some of their 70s stuff too. I haven't been quite into their stuff as much starting with Test For Echo.
I wish they would too, but unfortunately a lot of the damage was done as the tracks were being recorded. That sort of damage cannot be repaired, because the "data" for lack of a better term, is not there. They would have to re-record the tracks. Remixing and remastering would help some of it. Let's hope they'll at least do that. :(
Yeah, but what you've got to love (and understand) about Rush is that they change. That's the joy of listening to their stuff. Every album changes, and they have eras. I loved their keyboards too, but they've moved on, and considering they're still writing great music, we can't get too upset about it.
I suppose it's good for a band to change styles, but one of the reasons I like to keep listening to a band is their sound/style, and if a band is not consistent with that, then I'll likely only really like some of their music and not others. Rush is one of those bands. If a band keeps making good music consistently, then there's a higher chance I'd like all of their music.
Their designs have too many focal points and lack coherance now. What they have done is amazing, but I still hope they come up with a true triumphant piece of music that surpasses everything they've done like Beethoven did in his later years with the 9th Symphony.
The true Rush masterpieces were from Fly by Night to Hold your fire, peaking with A Show of hands before their music started to fade. The Rush outside of this is still good, but not as flawless as these albums were.
This is ridiculous! I can't go one day without offending people. You know, I am truly sorry for stepping on your feelings! Let me talk to the head of the You Tube site to "Permanently Remove" the Comments box at the bottom. God, People are just TOO DAM SENSITIVE! I didn't even say anything bad for crying out loud (rolling my eyes).
I just said RUSH is cool, what the hell is your problem. I'm sorry I mentioned U2, I should have known better (sarcastic)! I am sure you have said far worse shit than I have. You Tubers are such pussies!
lol lighten up, i wasnt serious, maybe your the one taking things too literally? its hard to express sarcasm through text comments but you dont need to essentially "flip out" about "not being able to go one day without offending people.."
Hell Yes they deserve it!!!!!

I went to the second leg of that tour =D

They are taking some time off to rest after their mega S&A tour. They have stated recently that they will probably be writing some stuff later this year and with a album and tour to follow. I really really hope this happens.
orange70383 2 years ago
I hope so, I just happened to get into Rush during the S&A tour(and they will always be my favorite band!!!), so I haven't got to go to a concert, but I think it would be one of the best moments in my life.
TheOtakuAmp 2 years ago
And Ironically to the tour and my timing, I live near Atlanta.
TheOtakuAmp 2 years ago
Otaku, I can tell you from experience, seeing Rush live will be your best concert ever.
ThrashBandicootBand 2 years ago
Great, I hope they do! I haven't been able to see them live, I recently got into them ( about 2 years ago) but didn't realize at the time they were on tour. sucks, hopefully they will come to Nashville or TN for that matter so I can see them.

Neil dosen't do interviews because people want to ask him questions about the loss of his wife and daughter.
umk3fann 2 years ago
Untrue...Neil has done interviews, but they have always been few and far between. He has rarely submitted to them since his first days with RUSH.
rushnm8 2 years ago 2
To be more exact, after his wife and daughter died they didn't want to have him do the "meet and greets" because he would have to endure the same questions over and over... So with S & A they left him out on purpose to spare him.
sugar2th173 2 years ago
They both died in car accident, then neil had to take a break he then traveled for 4 years on a motorcycle. Then one day he went into the recording studio after 4 years and was playing better then ever.
Cause he's the most Kickass person and drummer ever.
drumaonhigh 2 years ago 2
he doesn't do meet and greets at all for that reason, but rushnm8 is right he really didnt do many interviews in the first place, but he still does a few that are mostly private
mrskeithmoon 2 years ago
why is neil never in any of these interviews??

Have they? Hm. I haven't seen anything about that on their website...maybe I need to look harder. Are there any sources you know of, maybe a video somewhere?

i didn't know Neil Peart lost his wife and daughter. that's so sad when you hear tragedy strikes, even in the rock world there is emotion no matter what you do. but I'm glad to see rush's new album is one of the top sellers on the mainstream charts, they had talent, and they always and forever will.
fenderpwnage 3 years ago 3
Vapor trails was the first album since Presto that I liked every song on it. Snakes and Arrows reminds me of Test for Echo and Counterparts. Same production sound with a couple of good tunes but mostly filler b-side sounding tunes. Vapor Trails lacked the good production sound of Rush's other albums to make it a perfect album. Still great though. I wish they would re-release it with all new production sound.
mbhotie715 3 years ago
My favorite Rush music was all of their stuff from 1980 up to (and including) Counterparts, and some of their 70s stuff too. I haven't been quite into their stuff as much starting with Test For Echo.
jadetraveler 3 years ago
I wish they would too, but unfortunately a lot of the damage was done as the tracks were being recorded. That sort of damage cannot be repaired, because the "data" for lack of a better term, is not there. They would have to re-record the tracks. Remixing and remastering would help some of it. Let's hope they'll at least do that. :(

I'D LIKE TO SEE A THIRD PART OF CYGNUS.
xxTDODxxSLAYER 3 years ago
Hemispheres kind of ended it.
There really is nowhere for Cygnus to go.
HOWEVER, Rush is going back to epics for their next album.
ShinigamiXV 3 years ago
Really? Next album? Their releasing another? Where did you hear this?
captinjingles 2 years ago
oh lol i thought you meant cygnus ended it for rush's "good songs". You just meant the end of the story in the songs lol.

No flippin keyboards? You dullard! Afterimage, Subdivisions, Marathon all have keyboards and that to me is the best Rush era, period.
pajasper 3 years ago
Yeah, but what you've got to love (and understand) about Rush is that they change. That's the joy of listening to their stuff. Every album changes, and they have eras. I loved their keyboards too, but they've moved on, and considering they're still writing great music, we can't get too upset about it.
MasterODisaster101 3 years ago
I suppose it's good for a band to change styles, but one of the reasons I like to keep listening to a band is their sound/style, and if a band is not consistent with that, then I'll likely only really like some of their music and not others. Rush is one of those bands. If a band keeps making good music consistently, then there's a higher chance I'd like all of their music.
jadetraveler 3 years ago
Their designs have too many focal points and lack coherance now. What they have done is amazing, but I still hope they come up with a true triumphant piece of music that surpasses everything they've done like Beethoven did in his later years with the 9th Symphony.
1980MF1980 3 years ago
The true Rush masterpieces were from Fly by Night to Hold your fire, peaking with A Show of hands before their music started to fade. The Rush outside of this is still good, but not as flawless as these albums were.
1980MF1980 3 years ago
Conterparts and back is RUSH bring back Terry Brown and Peter Collens.

Let me talk to the head of the You Tube site to "Permanently Remove" the Comments box at the bottom. God, People are just TOO DAM SENSITIVE! I didn't even say anything bad for crying out loud (rolling my eyes).
