There's a new bios for this laptop that fixes the battery drain problem.

With the new bios, after 72 hours of being off I've only lost 5% charge. Before I was losing 5-6% per day.

I have this same laptop. Acer has a problem with this in that the battery discharges 5-6% per DAY even when the laptop is completely off. Pulling the battery, it doesn't lose any power so it's the laptop itself that is pulling power even when off. Charged mine last Sunday, 6 days later I power it up and it's at 64% charge.

you should unplug your battery. i use my battery only when i have to. all batteries wont last forever. i found out you reduce life of the battery everytime you use it.

I agree that batts won't last forever, but having to remove the battery just because you won't be using the laptop for a week or two is silly.

Of all the different laptops I've used, this is the first that will drain the battery when it's off. All the other laptops the battery drains due to battery self discharge which is ~ 5% per month. This laptop is doing it per day!

It cost 400 US dollars. Performance is good. Its like netbook on steroid.. You can order it online, just google Acer 1410-2801.
