  • 5:06 second part. just helping if u wanna hear it in particular.

  • Insane...

  • 6:30 Who would/could cough at a time like this? Most of the audience can't even breathe at this point

  • I always thought the ghosts of Horowitz and Rachmaninoff reside in Valentina, after seeing this performance I'm sure she has the spirit of Liszt (and all of his relatives) also.

Stunning! I love watching her fingers fly so smoothly and accurately over great leaps so effortlessly.

  • What a dynamic and powerful playing...great!

  • WoowWW..

  • just enjoy the music

    don't check the sheet

    you will be frightened...

  • @DasIstFurGott i second that, i saw it, and it was more frightening than 2girls1cup

  • @DasIstFurGott honestly the sheet music itself isn't even that frightening.. it's when you TRY playing it.. especially at 2:00 and towards the end. it looks really easy when she plays at 2:00, but it's RIDICULOUSLY hard getting your fingers on your right hand to reach and move that way without getting tangled that part took me hours a day to get down. plus, your forearms just become EXHAUSTED and cramp as you get into the second part with the repetitive C#. i'm still working on the 2nd part :P

  • Valentina Liszita :D becoz she looks like soul's Liszt while she's playing any songs him.

  • I hate comparing but this is in the level of Hamelin's Hungarian Rhapsody #2, and both are crazy ... seriously.

  • Strange esecution..maybe she was drunk.

  • This playing is so sick. My own piano skills feel totally crap now

  • like 08:35 to 08:42 dont know why

  • she feels happy becoz Tom & Jerry played..........and she too .

  • Where's the rush?

  • Comment removed

  • I keep coming back to listen to this. Every performance is different but the technical skill that Valentina demonstrates in some of the more difficult passages is truly astounding. Those who criticise might find it educational to listen to one or two of the now considered 'great' pianists at a similar age - where they dared to record. Valentina is without doubt ahead of the pack and a delightful and extremely talented international musician. Bravo Valentina !

  • Do you know what does have Valentina in common with Steve Vai besides being God?

    THE SHRED FACE!!! 5:52

  • There is a human being palying the piano! Right there!!!

  • Que perfeccion ! , me facina su forma de tocar el piano ! :)

  • I never believed in miracles until I saw Valentina playing the piano.

  • it gets looney-tooney at 5:57/5:58

  • FROM TOM ANG JERRY ))))

  • I take that back - Hamelin and others make Lasitsa look absolutely pathetic in comparison. This is downright sloppy. It's easy to splice together different takes from different camera angles to create an impressive performance as you can see on her official channel. Live however? Very subpar for a professional.

  • Hamelin makes Lasitsa look rather pathetic in comparison.

  • i hate the way that she plays piano

  • I love the part from 05:42 to 05:58 very very much and I don't know why!!

  • thumbs up if u know this piece from tom and jerry :P

  • LANG lANG EJECUTA SEGÚN COMO SIENTE; Y ESO TIENE SU MÉRITO; SÓLO SE PUEDE LLEGAR A ELLO DESPUÉS DE HABERSE ABURRIDO DE TOCAR APEGADO A LA PARTITURA; EN MI OPINIÓN.

  • Playing like this can not be taught. I may not be an authority on music, but I know what beauty is. Her playing was a thing of beauty to both the ears and the eyes.

  • Valentina LISZTita

  • Absolutely brilliant.

Now top that, Miss Wang! =P

  • @noizebeast Miss Wang is not at the level of Valentina Lisitsa, and mistakes are immaterial in a live concert (unless there are too many), just look at Horowitz who said if you want no mistakes listen to a machine play :-)

Suggest you listen to Jung Lin's live HR2 that is extraordinary, one of three best ever, along with Rachmaninoff's and Moiseiwitsch's interpretations :-)

  • @Bret6464 I hate all these guys who say Wang = Best because fast.

I know, that Mistakes are naturally and human.

The impressions at a live performance can't be compared with recorded ones anyway.

I didn't see much live performances besides DVD. :(

I only saw Yundi Li (wonderful Pictures of an exhibition!!!) once, but I'm looking forward to Valentina Lisitsas Concert in Dortmund, Germany. =)

  • @noizebeast I too much prefer live concerts and recordings of live concerts. Enjoy the concert of Valentina :-)

  • excelente....es una pianista genial....de mis favoritas

  • have you see the mouse?????

  • Bugs Bunny would be proud!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @nikon052952 even tom and jerry would be :P am i the only one who watched both versions? :P

  • @00Mj000 definitely not. everyone has seen the tom and jerry version

  • "Mistakes" that so many refer to, aren't.performers often change little things about the piece; interpretation is not only with tempo and dynamics. i.e Rubinstein was known to add or subtract notes from many Chopin trills because he preferred the sound. Does that mean all of us should try to change what Liszt or Chopin wrote? No. But there comes a point in which the performer is distinguished enough to have an interpretation different than the standard because they have the merit to do so.

  • goosebumps..

  • valentina, a mistake, lol, whatever!!!@!!!

  • This brilliance is almost inhuman. The feeling evident in every note is simply stunning, and yet she plays with so much passion, so much power. Wonderful performance :)

  • ...on a more personal note i rather thought anyway that Liszt was a bit pissed when he rote thist.

  • - looking back at yourself from all the eyes and minds in the room, and imagining all the criticism burning into your useless, humiliated soul. By this point you realise

ur playing on auto-pilot alone, the adrenaline shocks u back in2 ur fingers & ur brain - & u slowly arive back in ur body, and in2 the piece. Aftershocks thereafter can b frighteningly common but, well that is the life of the performer and; the opposite - a fantastic performance (especially an unexpected 1) soon fixes the ego :)

  • she falls apart like every musician does during one public performance or another. Its often inexplicable (more often its lack of preparation), however, when it occurs you are left fighting two battles then, rather than just the focusing on the piece itself. First off, the incredulity of your own private incompetence, makes you furious (out comes the fortisimo as well as the increased tempo), before you descend into a hotchpotch of multi-dimensional paranoia -

  • I get depressed everytime I see these... im never gonna be this good :(

  • It's like even if she plays not 100% exactly at one time, its then, when you REALLY don't need this kind of precision. She just know how to do it right, to prove as my favourite pianist!

  • Oh My GOD. I'm blown away every single time I watch this. So perfect. I doubt there is another pianist alive today that knows the piano that well. I think that's why she's so brilliant - her technical precision isn't even an issue for her, she must just be that comfortable with the instrument that it's automatic. Amazing.

  • Thank you, Valentina.

  • thank you for sharing

  • Did she ike modify this song or something? I'm hearing like extra notes.

  • can anyone tell me if i am able to play this song?? i can play moonlight sonata 3rd movement without problems. thanks :)

  • Okay. To all of you that keep, pointing out things that you think she did wrong:

I have yet to see any of you posting a video of yourself playing this piece better-or even of similar quality-on youtube. So until you do, stick to counting your pubic hairs and watching bad soap operas.

    Nuff said.

  • Mistakes? Valentina is 10 times more pro than me and I've been playing 8-master grade pieces for 12 years, including this one. Good piece to play though.

  • God <3

  • i love this song

  • @bpbartek0 Troll

  • 5:40 is the moment, jazz was born...

  • this was quite good, but im afraid tom plays it better.

  • @uchiha938 tha't was funny =))

  • That definitely takes your breath away!

  • Fantastic and Valentina obviously enjoyed playing it. What wonderful talent and what a warm personality.

  • could be a soundtrack to some sort of eastern European Sergio Leone cowboy film. And the piano playing is good to say the least

  • it would be a shame if she would be fisting....

  • What mistakes?

  • Apart from starting a mother life at 5AM and practicing piano from 8PM to 3AM and playing like a goddess, is there anything Valentina can't do?.

  • I'd like to see all of you people complaining about the few mistakes to play this piece as well as she does at the same tempo and not make any mistakes....

  • So many comments here refer to "mistakes"

WTF does that mean? Were you present when Liszt first played this piece so that you know it so intimately?

Here is a young woman of extraordinary talent playing passionately without the benefit of the written page and yet so many comments nit-pick some imagined mistakes. Get over yourselves already!

  • @monkeygraborange I do completely agree with you, if people knew how hard it is to do this without the music in front of them, I would like to see all the people who nit-pick at this play it this well or even play it at all!

  • @monkeygraborange : No "mistakes" at all. Who would talk about mistakes at this level? But listen, to be tolerant, to Alfred Brendel's interpretation.

  • @monkeygraborange

"Were you present when Liszt first played this piece so that you know it so intimately?"

How can anyone get away with comments this moronic, let alone receive 43 thumbs for it?? The SCORE, do you know what that is?

"without the benefit of the written page"

What the fuck does that even mean? That she plays from memory? You're really impressed by that?

There ARE minor mistakes here, but so are there in most other (live) performances.

  • @twooffour so what the funk you complain about? xD

  • @Valenqueen

    His stupid vomment.

  • @twooffour Maybe you're overreacting, dude. As far as I understand, when he says "Were you present... ?" he talks to the ones that criticize Valentina for playing a whole own version of this Masterpiece. And I would be upset too, peoplo who don't know how to push a button talking bullshoot...

And the "written page" thing... c'mon, it's Hungarian Rhapsody, not Twinkle Little Star.

It really seems it hurts you his comment, but if it's not for something personal, then I think you've got no argument

  • Wonderful

  • I'm sweating after I play this piece! she makes it look so easy and yet puts so much emotion into it.

  • You won't find many things that are as beautiful as a woman playing piano. If you think thats not true then you truly have a distorted vision of life.

  • @Camexplode YOU sexist scum! you ARE SCUMMMMM! uncouth ill cultured yob, go back to the london riots!!!!

  • @Camexplode r u gey?

  • @garygary978 i am gay and I love women at the piano, that's on top of all aesthetics.

Saw Lang Langs Version half a minute ago... well, I didn´t finish it, just too crazy... everyone complains about him, but somehow there were lots of audiencers... still I like Valentina better, for she plays, what is written in the sheets, so I can follow the sound^^ I like reading as she plays...

  • @Camexplode I think that you might just be jealous that you could never impress 'em! They certainly know how to impress men! This vid proves that they know how to impress everybody.

  • She plays great!!! Just simply and so full of emotions, ... just GREAT!!!!

  • is this being fast fowarded?!?!?!? XD

  • Valentina Lisita interprets this piece so wonderful... I love the way she plays the really technically demanding parts - she plays with such a simple and modest way - and does not exaggerate like lang lang (who is simply a showmaster)

  • @CHRISTTREE LANG LANG IS THE BIGGEST ACTOR YOULL SEE OUT THERE.

  • @CHRISTTREE true, I tire of watching Lang Lang's ego taking over the performance. Valentina is a pleasure to watch!

  • @CHRISTTREE I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!! The truth has been told :))

  • awesome!!!

  • 5:07 Tetris!

  • Tom and Jerry!!

  • WOWWOWWOW!!!!! When you get tired of listening to the "traditional" renditions of this piece, this is the one that is going to make you say..."My goodness! So that is what Listz intended!!"

    !

  • what a beautiful HANDS !!!! marvelous, magnifique ! Tom and Jerry should be astonished!

  • great!! Amo como toca esta mujer!! talento de Dios!

  • OMG Liszt got reincarnated into a beautiful woman from the Ukraine name Valentina Lisitsa. This is probably how it was to see Liszt play in person

  • Beautiful !!! I love you.

  • Impressive.

  • Free notes of this piece you will find in : FREEMUSICBOOKS . COM (there many notes for free!!!)

  • she study very czerny.!!!

  • And I tought that only rabits could play that fast...

  • @dannopper hahahahaHA #1 comment :))))

  • Those hands.........

  • very very good played. I have never heart a better piano version.

  • Thumbs up if you hear this from tom and jerry

  • you are the best!!! I could listen to you playing the piano for the rest of my life!!! AMAZING VALENTINA!!!

    Fábio from BRAZIL

  • .- i like her left hand on 1:05

  • 5:10 to 9:45 = OOMMGG!!!

  • For those of you who so lavishly dish out negative comments, can you play the piano? If you can, are you able to play at this level? I suggest you keep quiet if you can't, because you don't even have the faintest idea what it takes to play the piano like this! It takes many years of dedication, discipline, hard work and patience to get to this level! Valentina, I would give anything to be able to play like you! I'm still a long way off though, but I understand what goes into it!

  • Even if this is really not her best video (!!) this is absolutely amazing... i think she is the most unrated pianist on earth...

    Valentina I love you =)

  • Is that your own cadenza at the end?

Because, HOLY FUCK... I've had an idea for a little mini-cadenza (as a transition into Hamelin's :D) myself, and was about to write it down...

then I watched this video and the concept is the fucking same (the details are a bit different, though)!

Guess I've watched this video at some point earlier, but geez :D

  • Oh my gosh, thank you for uploading this, I don't know why she never uploaded this on her channel :(

  • I like her, although my sister as a music doctor told me her fingering is wrong.

  • @jamesbearbear There's no such thing as wrong fingering. What ever works best for you is what you should you.

  • Tom & Jerry can play it better. XD

  • Extremely gifted!

  • Nonostante qualche errore di troppo, resta sempre la mia preferita. Interpretazione straordinaria.

  • Valentina <3 , always the best.

  • Not bad. Not bad at all. Actually, you're impossible!

  • IMHO, she plays it exactly the way it was meant to be played. Awesome Performance!

  • It's easy to criticize correctly, but it's a LOT harder to play mediocrely

  • Bravo Ms. Valentina LISZTsitsa! :)

  • Listz new there would be an angel, so hhe made this song for her, and here it is!

  • Ooh! I love it! It's been so long since Valentina's last post here. I hope she continues to share her lovely videos. What an inspiration she is to all who love piano. I'm glad we can finally hear her play this lovely warhorse (which she certainly gives a fresh, impassioned, and powerful interpretation)...

  • What an outstanding performance!! This is the best I have ever heard of this piece, and I can see you had lots of fun playing it. I have played piano all my life, but I must say I would pale in comparison to Valentina. She is truely the Liberace of classical music.

  • Not surprising she gets tired. She practices so many hours in a day it's ridiculous. She stated 12-14 hrs. at one time. So much so that her eyes start to blurr after a while. I really think she needs to lighten up a little. As for whether she made any mistakes? Most of us hear the overall tempo, rhythm, the dynamic waves, the articulation more than 1 note in the midst of a cluster of 20, especially at high speed.

Considering all her difficult repertoire, she deserves serious congratulations.

  • Bravo !!!

  • This is so obviously a frolic for her. Just a lot of fun. She is so gifted!

  • As I usually say at the end of these videos: Wow.

  • Wonderful...

  • You got one more fan .-. brazil is watching you *-*

  • я не понимаю, как она так быстро играет..

  • @ohshitmatherfucker а что Вы хотите.... она с 3-х лет за инструментом

  • This time I think she really didn't care for this piece. She is awesome but this time...

    wasn't she tired though?

  • God I love this woman!

  • Wow this is some of the most amazing playing I've ever seen.

I'm no classical music master, but to me this song has some inherent humor. It's like a crazed composer furiously playing the same lines over and over to get them right. Does anyone else get that feeling?

  • I loved this performance! I cannot understand what was so terrible about it - I was mesmerized by Val's playing as always, perhaps even more that usual. This was so good! =)

  • Well ive never seen this ever played better. The mistakes have absolutely no value when you compare it to the pure emotion put into this piece. Anyone saying this performance is bad is a sad pathetic being.

  • @minifussy was there any mistakes at all??? lololzzzz i love it :-0

  • Jaaa Yo digo: cada quien tiene su estilo... Valentina Toca hermosisismo... Y su forma de tocar el piano es incomparable... los q la critiquen es por pura envidia... estoy mas q seguro q ni a los talones le llegan a Valentina...

  • Pure musical enjoyement! Great art!! I love her interpretation... she loves life!!!

  • Good lord, this is terrible.

  • she is awesome. i really like her style. i am mesmerized by the elegance and master of her hand movements.

  • It seems like a lot of people like to criticize others to make themselves seem smart, and I see ALOT of those kinds of comments on Valentina Lisitsa's videos. I bet half of those people are trolls.

  • @izzyjamm4 Normally - the internet IS full of trolls...

But in this one case, I have to agree with them. Considering that whatever Valentina Lisitsa usually uploads is nothing short of absolute divine perfection, this one video to me just lacked the care and attention she gives to all of her other pieces. Take a look at her playing the Liszt Totentanz (which is just IMMACULATE), and then compare it to this piece.

I don't think they're saying she's a bad performer, just that this piece was bad

  • @MrPeterJohnston That's very true too, very true...

  • @izzyjamm4 The other half have no ears.

  • "The artist will not present himself on the podium like the defendant in front of his judges, but like the witness of beautiful, truth."

    Franz Liszt

  • WOAH!! whats with the speed?? 0_o i think she likes to play it fast because she hates slow music? :\

  • Im learning this pieace, she plays way too fast. Keep to the tempo girl.

  • oh my god. If i play this piece at that speed, my hands get super fuckin sore after 30 seconds and i cant go on lol

  • So schön.Wonderful,really.

    Greetings

    Milena

  • did you tied Hilary and her violin for this one? ;)

  • I have read many comments saying there are wrong notes and all. I have also listened to Hamelin's and Lin's performance. I prefer Valentina's - it has a certain electricity to it. A thing of perfection need not be a thing of beauty - perfection could be defined wrongly.

  • @desp2007 You hit the nail on the head, perfection does not equate beauty. However, Jung Lin's performance is a thing of beauty and a thing of perfection. It's all in our perceptions and it is subjective. Valentina's interpretation has much in common with Hamelin's, great interpretations but not my preference.

  • @ldhmage Yes it is very much subjective. People go on categorically stating that one is better than the other, unmindful of that fact.

  • I have read many comments saying there are wrong notes and all. I have also listened to Hamelin's and Lin's performance. I prefer Valentina's - it has a certain electricity to it. A thing of perfection need not be a thing of beauty - perfection could be defined wrongly.

  • I am in love with this divine woman's playing!! I love how elegantly she builds intensity. The clarity and speed of that harmonic minor run in the beginning was amazing! I cannot conceive the dexterity she has to do what she was doing at 2:05. And that unconventional way of trilling for speed is just......orgasmic >.<!!
