First I like to say i love all of your video's ! I need a bit of advice : I can trade a williams Dirty Harry pinball machine in good condition for a whirlwind in good condition with the topper. Is it a good deal ? Thanks in advance for your help.
@denBlackie OOoh my....that's a good question. Dirty Harry is a lot "deeper" in the rules, is a DCS sound system game, has a dot matrix....you know? But, Whirlwind is a classic. If the WW is in good shape and working 100%, I'd say it's a fair trade "IF" you love WW so you'll get the trade value out of it. You know?
Me personally I would because I Like WW better than DH, but that's just personal opinion. Thanks a lot!
@spida1a Thanks for your opinion ! He wanted to sell it as well for a good price :) it was recently restored , looks brand new so I'm going to buy the Whirlwind and trade my DH later.
I've played this machine in real back in 1996 when I was on vacation in France (St. Jorioz, Annecy) in a campsite arcadehal where it was standing between a Dr. Dude and a Rollergames machine. I liked it rightaway. Then I never played it again until I discovered VPinMAME / Visual Pinball which made me possible to play it again, being a emulated replica. About a week ago I've completed it's basic and Wizard goals in Williams Pinball Classics for XBox360. Nice movie you made about this table.
I have one of these in desprate need of restoring but I just need the time to do it. I also have the Earthshaker that I let someone use for a show in Phoenix. It was left in the sun for 9 hours in the middle of July (how ironic). Long story short, goodbye ramps and fired employee :)
@seneca175 Yes, really. Have you ever seen the ones at Pinball Expo that show up now and again....where someone put the industrial fan on the top so it's SUPER windy? Ha ha . I wish I could play that someday. Lol!
All your videos are awesome. Now, I have two questions. I saw in other websites the plastic fender washers were below the blue plastics to protect them and you put them above. What's the correct way? And the last one, I have the left side of the upper transparent ramp kind of sawed (by hand in a strange way?) or broken (I don't know). Next to it, the yellow transparent pop bumper cap has a cut edge on it (because of the ramp). Do I have the first section of the transparent ramp broken? Thank you
Chris, your videos are awesome! No one else shoots and edits these pinball videos as well as you. I never realized how much I enjoyed looking at different pinball games. I've just ordered Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection for the PS2, because Whirlwind is one it. Not the same as the original, I know, but I can't wait to play it.
@JacobRuefer Thanks so much my friend. I truly appreciate it. I actually wish I could have done a better job "lighting" things. I was in such a hurry (and that basement has ZERO light). Things are a bit "hot" at times....but....yeah, I know. I'm being overly critical. Ha ha.
I tried this one in Pinball Hall of Fame Williams edition on the wii. It is quite fun virtualy, i bet the real one would show eve nmore how much i suck at real life pinball.
Great production! I like how you incorporated previous video for the story. Whirlwind to me, is second only to Funhouse. I think I played both on location at an arcade in the Richmond area years ago, and I was hooked.
@starsoldier1 Yeah, when I moved I shot almost all my games (before packing them away). I actually am going home in August to film the few I didn't get to....
Just asking out of simple curiosity, what motivated you to record video footage of the games back in the 90s? It really seemed to pay off 15+ years later to have that on hand for these videos.
I totally remember these, you're a really lucky guy to have all these sweet pinball gems; maybe someday I'll have a place big enough to get 1 or 2 of my own.
Wow Chris, it was cool to see you @ 15 doing the subway thing. Man you actually kept a lot of footages of the past times as if you knew that they may come in handy. Thanks for sharing your view on Whirlwind, I am beginnig to kinda look for a pinball myself lately... someday :))
Some part of me would feel still.. sad, if you had to let this collection go. :/ It wasn't easy to afford such machines back when you bought them, and remains so today..

Pat Lawlor is the king of pinball design IMO. Whirlwind is probably my second favorite table ever, after Twilight Zone (which Lawlor also designed).
Love your collection BTW.

Yea!! The fan on top of this one is always a mixed blessing. On one hand it keeps you cool. On the other it is REALLy distracting.
kindaaredneckkindaar 1 year ago
I know what would be funny but frustrating >:3
Modifying the fan so it is uber powerful and blinds the player when it blows.
Wouldn't that be mean? :P
