Since ERTL discontinued here in 2001,and for the UK,2004,UK had a U-hook upgrade. Plus they had all these fillers like Diesel D7101,Jock,Fergus,Murdoch,Jack,Spencer,Isabel,Catherine,Alfie,Arthur,Emily,Lord Harry,Neil,Frank and the Silly Trucks. ALL those ERTLs we didn't get JUST because ERTL kept running in the UK 3 years longer. I also liked the 2004 UK packaging THAT THE US CAN'T GET!

Oh,I understand and no. Only UK got the U-shaped hooks. I wish the US had it too because I only have ERTL Trevor,Diesel,Bill and Rheneas (soon to get Culdee and Godred). All of them have the stupid US hooks (obviously not Trevor). What I mean by stupid is that it's so hard to link them together. Ya know what I mean.

by fillers i mean anything that wasnt really in the tv series/was in one episode or was released inbetween series being aired eg: bear,catherine mountain coach,isabel,sodor softside truck,small crane,pump truck,derek,wilbert,sixteen,tigermoth,canal boat,thumper,scruffey,gordons special coach,slate trucks,silly trucks,smudger,lorries1,2,3,
@Candyyyyyyy1 yup, some of these prototypes are really weird, ertl went throudgh the process of releasing "fillers" e.g sodor soft side truck ,pump truck etc ,as for the whole preschool thing ,im not too sure
sounds like it was for the american market but possibly not and i agree on the crane , some of the prototypes looked better than the market versions like the small crane with moveable by a turning knob ,the breakdown crane looked more authentic butch had a better crane too
the weirdest ones are the two cranes theres subtle little differences which looked ok on them but were left out there's also another lady prototype based on a smudger / rheneas body

Yeah but they got Arlesdale engines and for Mountain Railway: we've only got half the locos they do.

What the heck? ERTL Sir Handel with a blue smokestack? They really thought they would release Lorry 2 and 3? And plus, who thought of ERTL Preschool?
Nevertheless,the ERTL Crane actually is pretty good with the added rust.
