  • Like only she can, Lady Day we all love u

  • Listen here a**holes most of all entertainers are using or have used, and to Billie Holiday not to speak negative, but her white male companions that traveled with her on the road trips introduced her to heroin, to help her relax to perform and make them money!! Her being young and from a rough life was gullible enough trust them and do the drug (which one of them had to inject cause she knew nothing about it, and they knew she would get hooked).

  • @PeppaFreeman How sad. I didn't know how she got hooked, but I sure hope those who introduced her to that crap have extra hot places in Hell.

Thanks for uploading this, paracite187. One of my favorite singers and one of my favorite songs.

  • Nada más importa...♫

  • I ain't gonna just sit around and cry. I know I won't die :D POW!

  • Excuse my lack of a proper adjective but there isn't one to describe this so: WOW

  • Great American art starts and ends here...

  • LOOK AT HER ARM! OMG WHAT IS THAT!?? @O@

  • @ASirensLullaby...Billie Holiday was an infamous drug user. Its probably the resulting scars from Heroin use.

  • @soniamaebrown By no way am I discrediting or attempting to demean her talent. Even James Baldwin talked about her drug use in his essay "The Uses of the Blues."

  • stunning

  • ....The blues aint nothin' but a pain in your heart....

  • remove the racism and war of this time.......and port me back please. :)

  • the two people who disliked this are lil'wayne or justin beiber fans

  • That one person who disliked sucks at life.

  • La voz de Billie Holliday tiene algo especial, no sabría decir exactamente el que. Sus canciones parecen iguales pero cada una tiene estilo propio.

  • there is always a troll that dislikes beautiful things like these

  • A helluva song

  • I am the stone that builder refused I am the visual The inspiration That made lady sing the blues I'm the spark that makes your idea bright The same spark That lights the dark So that you can know your left from your right I am the ballot in your box The bullet in your gun The inner glow that lets you know To call your brother son The story that just begun The promise of what's to come And I'm 'a remain a soldier till the war is won
  • @WAATOORMELOON Ain't that the song from Boondocks! That is a hard verse!

  • all about bending the notes. She was queen.

  • I would trade my life for hers just so the world can hear her voice one more time.. it's creepy I know but wow, that voice!

  • Never get enough of Billie.

  • Great song, music by Herbie Nichols.

Listen also to the version by Simon Nabatov !

  • Sade based herself on Billy Holiday when we first started playing in the London clubs:)

  • Divina!

  • I heard the original version of Herbie Nichols many times, but it is the first time that I heard this version.

I want to listen to this music that Billie sings with a piano of Herbie if possible.

  • She had a beautiful knack for singing like every instrument in the house.

  • beautiful woman, beautiful voice!

  • i've been given the nickname Billie because of my love of "LADY DAY"....im in my early 40's and i've had a hard time getting into the Blue's singers....so i made Billie Holiday my blues, jazz, and spiritual singer!...

  • I love Billie Holiday and I think she was the greatest Jazz singer ever and will never be replaced. There was only one Billie Holiday, she is the only Lady Day period. No coping her style or voice will make another Lady Day. You can call yourself Lady Day, but you will never be Billie Holiday. Love to you Billie!

  • it's an amazing song! thanks!.

  • i've never heard of Regina's tribute... but U2's "Angel of Harlem" is haunting and breathtaking.

  • This song, her voice, it almost makes me cry! Regina Spektor wrote a song about her and this song: it's called Lady

  • yes i know im a fan of both !

    wfg M

  • Well, I think you have a very good taste in music ;)

  • @sanne8585 in fact Regina Spektor was inspired by Billy Holyday and Bessie Smith...both great singers....God bless them

  • Thanks for posting this song, just got a tat of her looking sooo sexy, only female I would put on my arm!

  • i loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove luv love louve this song

  • The blues aint nothin' but a pain in your heart

When you get a bad start

When you and your man have to part

    I aint gonna just

    Sit around and cry

    I know I wont die

    Because I love him

  • Thanks for reposting this. ALOT!!!
