Pulse rifle + Plasma cutter are the only 2 weapons you need to comfortably complete the game. Plasma Cutter earlier on for everything when Pulse rifle ammo is still scarce, and plasma cutter remains the top choice against lurkers, pregnants and guardians (and their pods).

Pulse rifle against everything else, since it's so damn good (A military grade weapon that actually dismembers really nicely)

No weapon sucks in this game. Some could name off any gun and says it sucks; contact beam and line gun because of ammo, pulse rifle because of damage, force gun because of range, ect. It just depends on how you use the weapon, and what your expecting.

when they get to close to me when i play like on 23 seconds in i would have used the secondary fire for the pulse rifle right there.

in my opinion i think the pulse rifle has the most unique secondary fire.

yeah i have found the solution by now....i just dont like the idea that our weapons are stored with the items we find...cause now i got to go all the way to the bottom just to switch the weapons and its a real pain

if you load up a completed game it starts a new game and you keep all your upgrades, by level 2 i had fully upgraded Rig, Plasma Cutter, Stasis, Kinesis and Pulse Rifle

Pulse rifle is essentially a waste of ammo. Use the plasma gun to pick of specific limbs/enemies and use the line cutter for the larger waves. Since you have to shoot off their limbs anyways why would you use a gun that chews through ammo and accomplishes the same result?

hell no, pulse rifle is awesome. first off, its maxed damage is 6 per bullet, while plasma cutter is 18. thus, 3 pulse = 1 cutter. and you find ammo for the pulse rifle all over the place. its also easy to pick off limbs, and the gun gives you good crowd control.

If you invest in upgrading the pulse rifle, in my opinion it can be the best weapon in the game, with relatively high damage after uprgrading, an incredible capacity and rate of fire.

it can be an effective weapon with burst fire and good aim, but it is by no means the best, given the nature of necromorphs. the plasma cutter and line gun are simply more natural choices for effective limb-cutting. unlike most other FPS games, the large capacity and high rate of fire of the pulse rifle aren't really advantages within the dead space mechanics.

I tend to just max out the plasma cutter and the rest of my suit (stasis, rig, and kinesis (idk)). Mostly because I'm trying to get the one gun achievement xD

You know what I just figured out? Incredibly, the game truly appears to skew ammo drops and storage toward exactly which weapons the player has in their inventory. I see it over and over now that I know to look for it.

If so, hats off the devs. This is the first time the DEVELOPERS adapted to the PLAYER, and it's a true achievement.

You aren't a soldier and the only "real" weapon in the game is the pulse rifle. You are a master technician, and you use mining tools as your weapons.

its called strategic dismemberment or something like that. you have to remove their limbs to kill them. cause they will still fight you if you shoot their head or chest.
