  • I question the truthfulness of this video and can't help buy wonder if the mother really abandoned it because it was initially having trouble standing. Mother elephants are generally excellent parents, some even staying with still-born babies for several days. Can't help but wonder if this video segment isn't a composite of several (or at least two) different baby elephants. For a non-nursing, abandoned baby (abandoned when it couldn't initially walk), it later seems to be walking quite well.

  • That baby elephant absolutely must nurse for many, many months. That male might give much needed protection in the short run, but he will have to get that baby to a regular elephant herd (always headed by a female [although males will sometimes form small, bachelor herds]) and accepted for nursing very soon if the baby is to survive.

  • Poor fatty baby chasing birds. Wonder what his future holds.

  • big guy has heart

  • so what's the end to this story?? i mean did the baby elephant lived??

  • @AmericaBarba1981 If he stuck with the big elephant bull he would have lived. Lions dont dare to take down a grown elephant
