@2skip29 It was destroyed, basically, from the O-ring failing on the right rocket booster. After the O-ring failed, it let a plume of flame out that was on the attachment strut of the right rocket booster and the External Tank. It caused both the structural failure of the ET, and caused the right booster to pivot into the tank and orbiter, which destroyed the aft dome of the lower tank, rapid hydrogen leak that pushed it into the in-tank structure, which caused a violent burning, along with RCS,

RCS (Reaction Control System) rupturing and burning the propellants... The orbiter was pushed into an attitude that caused it to break apart in mid-air.

Think about it this way: If an aircraft is going really fast, and isn't built for high-speed loops, what would happen if it goes for a high-speed loop? It'll break apart. That's what happened with Challenger... Sadly, none of the Challenger crew survived the break...
