  • the ABB 1969-1971

  • This is f***ing retarded

  • This is so freakin awesum buy the end of this me and my boyfriend are dancing fully naked and you know the rest LOL......WEW life rules radically stay blessed

  • the original solo notes on the exchange of standard and slide guitar licks are just so kick ass , that its hard to get thrilled by any other version.

  • Good version! Check out version by Mike Brock - he absolutely lights up the leads (from his lap); even the Allman Brothers would have to sit back and smile...

  • Its shocking that Greg was out on the road as long as he was with his bad liver. He was clearly sick here which may explain his voice sounding "off", but he's still trying like hell though.

  • just what i've been looking for, thank you :)) Rich

  • @theatlantisrise Put down the pipe.

  • i still miss dickey

  • Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Like a fine wine, The ABB only gets better with age!!!

  • OMG! Accidentally hit the down thumb. I was one of those three. I didn't mean to! :(

  • @smallTownRAT

How do you think the other down thumbs got there?

  • WOW WEE!!

  • Warren & Derek can ROCK.....not 2 mention Gregg... and band....

  • nope, back to Elmore James

  • I love the -MORE COWBELL -shirt!!

  • I want to go back in time to 1970..Anybody with me ?

  • great video, thanks for posting

  • i and a freind have seen the allman brothers for 20 straight years ,first year it wont happen. hope you feal better greg .

  • Check out the 1995 R&R HOF version on YT with Dickie and Woody thats is the shit!!! Nothing against Derek, he can lay it down with the best, but bring back Dickie!!!

  • one of the best versoins of this song ever. long live the ABB.

  • I've seen Warren with the Allmans 3 times in the 1990s, every time getting tighter and tighter. The last time--I swear to GOD these guys were the most harmonious and intense musicians i've ever had the fortune to witness. And although it seems Dickey Betts is no longer with them, they are still tight as hell!

  • @BarreraMusic It because THEY ARE ALL PRETTY MUCH STRAIGHT THESE DAYS! LOL

  • @SteveGaines This is about the most lame version of "One Way Out" I've ever heard. No question Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and Otiel can't make the ABB crack on all cyclinders like Duane Allman, Dickey Betts and Berry Oakely could. Plus the originals who are left sound old and tired compared to the original lineup. Listen to Live At the Fillmore East or Eat A Peach and see what I'm saying. Also when is this line up going to come up with some new magic like Blue Sky, Liz Reed, Mellisa, Dreams etc

  • @boblackey1 The magic died with Duane..Dicky is a drunk and is gone..It's just a paycheck for the rest of the guys...Greg and Butch are on their 60's...Don't count on them writing anything HOT in the near future..

  • @SteveGaines I'm 64 (wish I was still 24, man I feel like crap somedays) and saw the original band 67 in a two year period. I have yet to see this version of the ABB smoke these old ABB songs like the original band. Maybe it is just a paycheck. Warren and Derek are great guitar players but they seem to be more comfortable in their own bands rather than doing these songs in place of Duane and Dickey. The Chuck Leavell/Lamar Williams version was real hot in 1973 but it was a different band...

  • @SteveGaines with just Dickey on guitar and Williams was a bass player (a good one) and Oakely played like a guitar player. But they cooled off for some reason. By 1974 their shows were jaded. I guess the cloest they ever got again to the original line up was the Warren, Woody version as Woody seem to channel some of Oakely's style and spirit. When Derek joined and played with Dickey in 99 it was also close to the orginal in many ways. Todays ABB is good but sounds like a tribute band w/o Betts.

  • @SteveGaines i love the original too., saw them three times while everyone was still alive.... having said that, frankly, i think your other opinions are full of shit!

  • @mccurryburg The only opinion I stated was that Duane was dead, Dickey was a drunk and don't be expecting them to ever write any more "HITS"....I think you need to be aiming your TIRADE at "bobblackey...he is the one making all the comments..."LEARN TO READ"..

  • @SteveGaines My comment is, AND IT IS CLEAR TO ANYONE WITH EARS, is this is a LAME version of One Way Out for the Allman Brothers. Compare to the Duane/Dickey version on Eat A Peach recorded live at the Fillmore. Derek and Warren are fine guitar players but they don't play this stuff like Duane and Dickey did and Gregg isn't as good, Otiel is not Berry Oakely, Jaimoe seems low on energy. The only one that still sounds much like the original band is Butch Trucks. Warren/Dickey early 90's better.

  • @boblackey1 I AGREE! They are mailing this one in.. .Dickey and Warren had their moments in the early 90's..But it's just a paycheck for these guys.. .You aint gonna get any arguments from me..

  • @boblackey1 yeah, I hate to say it but this version here could have been left at the venue. Gregg sounds fucked up but then this could have been right before the transplant or afterwards, I don't know. I've followed them for decades, saw them waaay back in the 60's when he and Duane were a club band. With all the folks Gregg has played with since Barry's and Duane death I can't say any of them were bad, they just weren't the originals. He's done the best he could and have done well.

  • all u need... is a song and the memory!

  • Warren pretty much has a handle on this kinda solo.... holy smokes

  • You just can't have the ABB without Gregg or Dickie.

  • gregg is singing.

  • Sorry, but this just sounds mechanical and stiff. I guess that's what happens after you play a song thousands of times.

  • @legunncat: I'd call it "tight," FaultFindingCat

  • AP if you like this, good for you. To my ears it sounds mechanical, tight if it suits you. I'd much rather hear:

    watch?v=8Pq4_hbO6zs

    and the gold standard:

    watch?v=dIY8CoMILgU

  • i can see where you're coming from, but there's nothing stiff or mechanical about what derek is doing in this tune. that cat is as natural as they come - he wouldn't know how to play stiff if he had to. lol 3:34

  • Check out the "More Cowbell" shirt on Jaimoe (3:04). Where'd he get that- from Christopher Walken? LOL

  • @ArtsPatron2008

    thats not jaimoe

  • Love this.

  • Derek is Butch's nephew...been touring with the brothers off and on since he was 11 years old...

  • OMG - enough already with Duane vs. Derek thing. Chrissake, just love the music. See them when you can - This era is coming to an end - Gregg will not be playing live much longer - I see them every year at SPAC - Derek is amazing - they all are - tight Jam, all the time! - ps Daile Allman? lay off the pipe dude. Zebra is right - Derek is not Butch's son. Not hard to find out that info. Long Live the Brothers!

  • @olivermimi1 Amen.

  • @olivermimi1 he's not his son but he is butch's nephew

  • @olivermimi1 Duane towers over the whole thing and continues to inspire them. Period.

  • just not the same without Dicky

  • me too man. saw em at pnc not too long and it was the best time i've ever had at a show. the band's just incredible. they were really jamming it was great. saw em 4 years previous to that but none was as special as the last time...warren has the best tone ive ever heard

  • i love these guys. they gave me the best concert of my life a few months ago!

  • As a long time fan, I can honestly say derrick and Warren are the best duo since brother duane passed. Derrick and Warren smoke..no... ifs ...ands ..or butts...I think even Duane would be proud.

  • I saw them 4 years ago in Santa Barbara at the county bowl. Probably the best concert I ever saw. They sounded so tight and the guitars just shredded!!!!!!!!!

  • You are right, boutwell1i. Duane would be proud. I love the Brothers. Their music sounds like freedom.

  • watch the crossroad 2007 vid where clapton is jamming with derek trucks. Derek starts taking off into outer space. I think to myself, "holy shit, Duane's spirit is taking over here," Clapton shoots a look at Derek Trucks that seems to say the same thing. Waht a great player he is.

  • warren haynes you dog

  • don't mean to be snotty but Derek is Butch's nephew not son.

  • you know everyone has issues about Warren and Derek vs Duane and Dickey. Heres the deal. Thats like comparing Stevie Ray and Jimi Hendrix. They are both good at what they do. Apples and Oranges. And another thing. Derek Trucks is Butch Trucks' son not his nephew. I know My name is Daile Allman and I'm related.

  • I think Greg is more than thrilled to have derek trucks or warren hayes playing with him

  • There's no end to the Duane vs. Dickey vs Derek vs Warren argument. My personal favorite is Duane but hell they are all incredible players. I can play for another 20 years and never be as good as any of them---so appreciate them all

  • What makes the comparison thing so difficult is that you have a pioneer (duane) being compared to an inovator (derek). Both are great, but in their own respects.

And by the way I saw clapton with trucks at a show and I seriously felt bad for clapton that he had to follow some of the leads that Trucks played. Clapton ripped it up as usual, but I had no idea that Derek trucks was as good as he was until I saw him live. AND HE WAS PLAYING NEXT TO CLAPTON, no less!

  • Wow. What a sad performance-- tired and plodding. Just finished listening to the Bros 1995 performance of this song at the R&R Hall o' Fame, & was completely blown away. Wish I hadn't clicked on this link.

  • let me guess. Thi is sad because dickey wasen't in it. How about you quit trolling videos, and posting comments like this.

It's Dickey's fault for the reason he's not with them now. He doing fine with his own band (which is pretty tired and plodding it's self).

Hell, Dickey was even invited to the reunion show, but didn't show up. thats his own fault. Dickey was great, but he brought nothing new to the table. Always the same tired licks, and triplets.

  • I was there.....it was great...saw Gov't Mule too

  • Talked to butch a cuople nights ago after the show at the beacon where Jimmy Herring came. he, like me, agrees derek is the best guitarist of that generation. And if clapton had been on stage with warren haynes, trucks and herring he would have been the 4th best guitarist up there. Derek's the man!

  • What fuckin lsd are u on-ever seen the Domino's or Clapton solo early 70s?

  • derek is the best IMO, but not sure if Clapton that bad dude. Seen all of those guys mentioned and Warren was better at one time ... but I just don't know (no pun intended). Like comparing apples to oranges...really just a matter of opinion

  • lol now i wouldn't say that duane sounds like a hobo with a rubberband and a wine bottle...... but i think duanes work had a huge impact on derek. both amazing guitarists. Derek's my hero.

  • dereck is a good slide guitarist... but comes no where close to what duane could do man.

  • right

  • I highly disagree, if you've really listened to a lot of Derek's stuff, there's a lot he can do that Duane could not.

  • jeah

  • wow derek trucks half the player as duane allman?.. wow.. def not! duane was good for his time but im so tired of people sayin derek is a copy of duane or duane is better.. u people are soo sick! derek is the master of slide guitar. duane sounds like a hobo on the side of the street playin on a rubberband and a wine bottle compared to trucks so there u go. thats to u all who cant roll with the changes and dont have an ear for music

  • I agree with you!I am fade up with people who said Duane was so better than Dereck...Just the same idiots who pretends Hendrix was always great or Bloomfied a giant...These people just live in the nostalgia oo their 20's!

  • Derek Trucks fits so well with ABB. Probably one of the best collections of slide players on stage at the same time. Just missing one.

  • abuses? How does he abuse it? lol

he doesn't beat it, he uses it. Guitars are tools my frind, an dthey are ment to be used. btw he doesn't tour with Eric anymore. Hasen't since 2007.

  • If you want to hear a live version that really kicks ass, check out the 1995 Rock and Roll hall of Fame version with Dickey Betts. This just doesn't hold a candle to it. The tempo is too laid back for me.

  • Warren is GREAT; Gov't Mule rulz. But remember he is not an original "Brother".

  • I'm a man of tradition, but ABB with Trucks and Hayes kicks ass

  • Oteill + Warren + Derek + Butch + Greg = Fuck Yes.

  • derek trucks is insane

  • I agree he's almost half as good as Duane

  • Warren has the amp with the randal, he also plays through soldano's alot too.

  • Actually The Randall (Cab) and the Fender super reverb 4 10 and the Marshall are Derek's amps. Warren uses Marshall, Diaz, and Soldano. Warren uses the soldano head more with Gov't Mule.

  • Yea thats true. He use's a signature head soldano built for him with ENGL cab's w/ Mule

  • whos amp is it with the randall cabinet

  • Amazing...just the way to the blues...

  • saw these guys in Raleigh NC not to long ago, and they were fuckin awesome, the best live band I've ever seen.

  • age hasn't been to kind to Greg. Love his music though.

  • I saw their 40th anniversary tour here in Charlotte, NC last year, Greg never sounded better. This vid he does sound a bit rough. But he was awesome that night.

  • Ah,Yes, one way out, ....love it.

  • thanks for the video the band I'm in has started doing this song and even though we don't do it exactly like the Allman Brothers it sure helps to see how they did it and try and be at least half as good(lol)
