Whoever voted this song down is a fucking hater, they don't listen to any good music whatsoever. They can't grasp the fact that music can be like this. Thank god for Eric Clapton...
Mr. Clapton. I'm in my 40's with 2 children under 10..... every time I hear this song I always think about how I can be a better dad and how fortunate I am that they are still here. This is gratitude that truly comes from the soul because you turned a loss that I can't comprehend and made a song that hopefully brings some tiny bit of good - out of unbearable tragedy. I am truly sorry for your loss. Sincerely.
A sad song he wrote about the day he spent with his son at the Circus in Long Island, NY - Circus Left Town. I pray for him. i know he must feel guilty about not being around for much of his short life. Praise God he had this special day with his son.
Being a father myself, and knowing the story behind this song, let me tell you, I have absolutely NO idea what I would do with myself if something like that happened to one of my babies. To be able to take allof that pain and loss and turn it into something THIS beautiful, with which to honor his son's memory, is nothing short of divine. Should make all of us, set aside our petty concerns for 4 minutes, and take stock of what's important.
Whatever it is....He is simply the Best!!! I hardly see great musicians like him...El mejor "Requintista" del mundo....We love you and your music...God bless you always!!!
Whatever it is....He is simply the Best!!! I hardly see great musicians like him...El mejor "Requintista" del mundo....We love you and your music...God bless you always!!!
I don't know why we have to be on this earth and deal with all this hardship- but I think maybe we have to go through all this so we can learn. It's a learning experience. And hopefully we will learn to love, care, be compassionate, thoughtful, etc. That's my own take on it. Our time on here is a learning experience for us and those we come into contact with. It's necessary, no matter how difficult it seems. There are people you know who need you. So stick around- know that you're loved
@ar4216 everything that happens is a way to grow and to make an impact on other human beings, so we are so valuable. It is the love we give that makes us strong and without seeking reward us back in major way. That is the lesson we must learn in our journey through life. only pure love can fill the emptiness of the soul, it's no secret that we do not belong here. But still I have to fill other souls with pure love. I must not forget that the uphill is hard but it pays to be on top. Thanks
@m081487m Eric is using a steel string, and the guy that played the solo is using a half steel half nylon (nylon strings for the higher pitch strings).

Hey everybody, my name is Nadine I've been modeling for all my life but I really want to be a singer :) I wrote a song for my mother, who passed this year - I would appreciate it if you had a listen, it is called 'See you again'
Each time I hear this sad, lovely tribute of sorrow and love, my heart aches for the loss of every child any parent has ever lost, for the incomprehensible pain and fragmentation to the heart and spirit that must be felt by the parents and loved ones left to find a way of living without a part of themselves. Such a beautiful song, and such a sacrifice to share it with us all.
there is a quote eric clapton made about this song years ago..... " when this record came out it became my greatest selling record of all time. but if you want to know what it really cost me to make this song go to ripley and visit the grave of my son."
Thanks Eric Clapton by using your song on the cremation of my little nephew who become crashed by a truck where the truckdriver has drunk so much that he was driving through aswell after this was happening. He was 8 year old.

Thanks, Eric for everything and I am with you in case of your son. I know. we must bestrong and carryon.
he has, sadly... fact is he stopped performing this song many years ago with a few others.. cause he, especially with this song, wants to not remember the feeling of it.. and thats understandable, this song brings him too many sad memories athat he has buried and doesnt want to re-hash, those bad memories.. it is a great song, but so sad by far one of the saddest in history.. unfortunately.
March 20 1991 Eric's son Conor fell 53 stories to his death from a New York Skyscraper. Eric was not in the apartment at the time. Conor was in the company of his mother (not wed to Eric) Lori Del Santo, her Father, and the housekeeper. The housekeeper had just cleaned the window and had left it open. She witnessed Conor run by her and out the 4 by 6 window to his death. Eric wrote the song in memory of his son.
I can just imagine eric claptons son screaming all the way down. and then his screaming is stopped by a sickening thud.
The funny thing is that eric probably walked past what was left of his son on the way home thinking what the fuck is this big red mess on the pavment.
LOL he probably even slipped a little on his sons guts.
20 people thought it was opposite day then, love this song, amazing artist x

To be able to relate to ohers in a similar situation is on aspect to ease the pain of loss or any feelings. It doesn't make the pain go away but it can ease it IF you are the kind of person who can engage yourselfe enough personally in the piece of music. Also a person can feel the need to tell the world about his or her pain, and thereby relate to others.

have you ever heard a song with meaning?
reaften 2 years ago
hmmm.... lemme think.
Maybe the reason he wrote a song about his son's death is because THATS WHAT MUSICIANS DO.
to write a good song, you NEED Inspiration.
if my son died, i'd be pretty down. i think i'd write a song about it to.
he didn't make the song for money, he made it for the same reason good, honest musicians make music.
for the love.
art is expression of emotion.
eric clapton let people know how he felt through his music, thats the beauty of music.

he has, sadly... fact is he stopped performing this song many years ago with a few others.. cause he, especially with this song, wants to not remember the feeling of it.. and thats understandable, this song brings him too many sad memories athat he has buried and doesnt want to re-hash, those bad memories.. it is a great song, but so sad by far one of the saddest in history.. unfortunately.

this song amazes me every time i hear it. how out of a terrible tragedy can come something something very beautiful and touching.
must take great courage to preform something so personal and painful.
