  • Seven people missed the "I like button" because of a Windows bug

  • agreed

  • Чо?

  • linux is the best os i have ever used. im torn between my love for linus and my love for being able to play windows games!! and also wine doesnt play alot of the games i want to play well or at tall

  • @cokabears dual boot :)

  • This ad is so persuasive and describes Linux in a politician way. Would this cater for all the distros like Ubuntu, Mint, SUSE etc...?

  • @Ograws well, yea because they are all Linux.

  • @lorddamian Oh yes I just found out that they are all based on the Linux Kernel

  • My family adopted my brother and he is called Ubuntu!

  • I adopted him and named him Arch.

  • @leercrak Arsch means 'ass' in German.

  • he looks like a little-kid version of Eminem, lol

  • That's a good message behind this ad.

  • i remember that add : )

    #WTF

  • Open source is the way to be, plus if you can write shell scripts there's no choice involved between Linux and the other guy$.

  • the ( microsoft ) gives the windows !

    the ( gnu/linux ) gives the world !!

  • IBM!

  • The future is open !

  • @jeroeniskoning for business X D

  • I think I have seen a very similar commercial like this on USA a while back.

  • not the best ibm linux commercial but better than most linux commercials

  • I use windows for gaming, linux for everything else... I just wish these commercials were on TV :(

  • willing to pay $299 for a box at a retail store to make that happen?

  • it was made by IBM though... they can probibly afford it :)

  • once AutoCAD works completely in Linux I will completely switch to Linux :)

  • Linux only sucks for those who dont take the time to learn to use it. For those who do it is a far more powerfull tool for alot of things then is windows,, Espechially vista lol. Big flop there. Microsoft doesent do like linux where they let you see how everything works, i think that might have something to do with most of their stuff doesent work right though .

  • Linux is intuitive (at least the major desktop distros), any computer user doesn't even need to learn it, just has to start using it.

Any windows user should be able to start using Linux right away. Not to mention mac users, who are used already to a Unix derivative.

  • I want to transfer from windows to linux... Only problem will be to get used to it...

100% sure i wont stop using windows xp

  • either dual boot (like I use to do) or install one in a virtual box (what I do now) I use linux for most things but when it comes time to play games or use itunes then I just open windows.

  • I said the same thing and now I'm using ubuntu and it works pretty well. but I do use xp also.

  • @motion2000 I learned how to use a computer using solaris and red hat linux, I find that linux is easier to use than windows but that's because it's the os I learned on and it's what I'm used to. I play a couple of games on widows and find it to be a closed and unstable system that needs loads of time and energy to keep it running nicely, for my linux, I run debian it's as easy as apt get_update and press enter.

  • @motion2000 we live in XXI century mate. Who want's to learn how to use oprating system ?

  • @HouseM1980 think of it like this: windows and mac are both cars, meanwhile linux is like airplanes that are being given away for free by crazy people from down the street, the only reason why people don't take advantage is that no one knows how to fly an airplane, but I think we can all agree, flying is better

  • @HouseM1980 Ask people who switched from Windows to OS X.

  • @darthirakli I use Windows7 @ home and Snow Leopard @ work. I like both to bo hones. But sometimes I am forced to use a spare laptop at work with Ubuntu 9.10 on board. And It's always a big pain in a back. :-)

I think that Linux is still a child (like in this vid) child who will never become an adult

  • @HouseM1980 And what's so great about becoming an adult? We learn much faster and adapt to things better when we're children. A child has less fear, and is prepared to try crazy things on the off-chance that they'll work - and quite often they do.

It is said: "Growing older is compulsory. Growing up is strictly optional".

  • @HouseM1980 right! who wants to learn how to read and write neither, or even to walk or to cook or... you name it.

  • @HouseM1980 Everyone has to learn to use an OS at some point - people aren't born knowing how to use Windows and/or Mac OS. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect what you mean is that you don't want to have to learn something new. I can't criticise you for that, I suppose, but I certainly don't endorse that attitude.

  • @motion2000 Main advantage of linux, is that if you know how, you do shit by yourself. Something doesn't work? Build your own fucking linux for that task.

  • @motion2000 i agree with you

  • @motion2000 AGREED! Linux is awesome! I use debian linux and I can't believe how much I can do with it, and its free too! =D and now the wine project has gotten to the level where nearly everything (games and stuff) I used on windows (and doesn't have a linux counterpart) works

  • @motion2000 It is also important to distinguish between Linux as the kernel (who is far superior to Windows) and the software that runs on Linux (who is not always that superior). A good example is X.org who does not allow you to drag windows across multiple GPU's (works great on dual output tough)). So even if the base system is rock solid (unlike windows) the apps you run are not always like that but luckily you can use wine to run most of your needs!

  • @motion2000 If Windows was open source, everyone would fix Windows and Microsoft would die.

  • Windows is closed source, because then they can hide all their bad coding. Windows is not cleaned out in code, more is it patched for every upgrade. Which means billions of lines of code, only half of it really nessesary. IDK what they do in Linux, but it is so damn FAST. Windows can never achieve that speed. It is too bloated. I really, really hate the "speed" of Windows. Makes me fall asleep right away.

  • @MsPwain

Me too, when I go to a friend's house and they have a windows computer, they have to wake me up.

My computer is Asus Eee PC with Ubuntu 10.10 that boots in 25 or less when it wants to ant the OS is only 1.2 GB, take that Microsoft!

  • @motion2000 an example is video converting on my ubuntu one line in the terminal and i can convert a video to any format in the amount of time my pc takes, on windows im yet to find a decent free video converter that i trust enough not to have viruses or only do part of a job.

  • This child is dislikable and creepy.

  • at least he is human... not a fucken apple ...

  • or a window

  • @firestrike17 actually he is a penguin

  • @firestrike17 or a window...

  • there are a series of these linux commercials. It seems much less lame if you seen the others.

  • I'm a Linux user/fan, but this commercial is lame. The analogy is just stupid.

  • Windows is extremely poor in comparison with what Linux can do now, and that gap is growing each day. The greedy corporation are too busy counting the cash from their monopoly than fixing their product. Why bother putting effort in when you already won?

Linux/BSD will never get into a rut because they are based on evolving & sharing rather than scarcity & suppression.

  • LINUX is the best nothing can beat that..

  • linux is great!I am crazy about it!!

  • Nothings wrong, all is relative.

  • Then how can your comment be "right" if "all is relative" ?

And of course, "all is relative", is self defeating as it is an absolute statement.

  • >"And of course, "all is relative", is self defeating as it is an absolute statement. "

    That's a good one actually. +1

  • >>comparing switching an OS to adopting a human child is just.... wrong

    1) welcome to the internet, we don't care about your whining. In fact, it makes us laugh

    2) Look up the word "metaphor"

  • Please tell me this is a joke. You are not that stupid are you?

  • yes a joke

  • honestly, it had better be a joke. Cause if its not, there are so many errors there, I may just laugh at their sheer stupidity. Their loss lol

  • yes, i believe that was a joke. haha a lot of people took it seriously judging by all the thumbs down.

  • THIS POST WREAKS OF EPIC TRUTH

  • Linux is more secure than Windows

Wine stands for "Wine is note an Emulator"

    Registry? do your research

    Gates never made Linux

    Linux is free...

    DX10? Do your research... please...

Linux is better, give it a try.

  • Seemed like a pretty obvious joke didn't it?

  • I know my jokes are weird, but you beat me there.:P

  • These videos are truly ahead of their time. Pure genius and inspiration.

  • lol linux...

  • Love this videos, I adopted him since 2007. Ubuntu & Fedora.

  • I adopted him a few weeks ago... pcoslinux it was realy good but my pcs wlan card broke =/ i have to sendt to reapir but when it get it back its going to be linux and windows xp dual boot =D

  • i adoptted that boy since 3 days and i am free now hahahahahahah, i am happy with my ubuntu

  • windows = tyranny

    osx = rebellion

    sunsys = zealots

    Linux = Freedom , Community , Love , Liberty

  • dont forget UNIX..root of every intels..

  • yep

  • but UNIX = No Community, no love or Liberty: just "talent"

  • Linux is also fun and totally rad as well.

this comercial makes it look all stuffy.

but it is ibm after all

ibm machines are cool too, the way that they are open-architecture and can change bits around so easily made by thousands if not millions of manufactures.

  • i adopted that boy a month ago

  • How so? A huge percentage of the servers in the world run a Linux distrobution of some sort. Using open source also reduces a hell of a lot of overhead for businesses who adopt it over proprietory software like Windows Server. Those extra resources can do into more useful things, like making more money as opposed to spending it on making the business able to run.

  • Next to the Ali ad this is the best ever.

  • I adopted "The Boy" a bit over a year ago.

    Oh my.

I never could have imagined that using a computer was going to give me goosebumps...

    There is nothing like Linux.

  • I love this video. xx

  • Ok I can relate to this ad
