The original pre-show was actually projected onto a large screen on the left side of the pre-show room where the 20th anniversary poster is now. They started using the TV screens in 2002 when the new video was filmed, and switched to HD screens at the beginning of this year.
@uruseiranma yea your right about the pre-show video, this was the early pre-show (circa early 90's), during the late 90's (such as 1997), the pre-show was different, this def. isn't the video that ran til 2002 as stated, the pre-show you may be thinking of had steven spielberg wearing a flannel shirt and lookjing older of course and the acting was more serious and directed toward us the audience, the pitch of the video was we had to help e.t. return to his planet
Once again, I think I like this version better than what we have now. It just has a better feel to it than what we have now, even though it's really just the same thing with a different flavor.
this ride must probably be the best spin-off of ET, because the games starring him sucked (especially his atari 2600 game which nearly killed the video game industry until a certain italian plumber came to save the day)
i remember this from when i was like 3. and at the end he turns around and says "thank you(your name here)" i was so amazed that he knew me that well haha
"The Green Planet has even bigger trouble. The whole place is alien"
Well... no shit.

@ReverendSyn
Steve[n Spielberg] actually said "ailing" (i.e. sick, dying), not "alien".

Was this a TV screen? If so, that's pretty huge. What site did you get the video from? I tried to search for this site but Couldn't find it.

I wish I could remember this opening. We went on this ride back in 1997, but I swear we saw the other version instead of this one.
This to me feels more 'real,' in that the audience becomes part of the E.T. film.
That was the only time I had gone on the E.T. ride, and I still remember E.T. saying my name at least.
