  • Well first of all this is a horrible version of the song. It is a great song and their biggest hit so far right? Why would they want to play what the people want to hear? Maybe thats why I havent heard their name mentioned in the US in over 10 years?

  • daniel doesnt listen to their old songs anymore... ben and chris only listen to it for a laugh..

  • bring it back man. it needs to be 99 again

  • that was the last time they play it?

  • @MarcGTA4 definitely one of the last times, there's no record of them playing it after '99

  • This is one of the most touching moments in silverchair history to me. It felt like all the old memories of the chair rushing back. I know Daniel must have been thinking and feeling that way too. He is entitled to lay that song to rest if he chooses...no one should question it.

  • 4 fat boys didnt wait til tomorrow

  • I hate it how everyone's like "Why don't they play this anymore". I can say confidently that anyone who says that doesn't write music themselves, and doesn't want to challenge themselves with it. Once you start composing you develop a much greater appreciation for other styles and if you're an open-minded person, a desire for originality.

THAT would be the main reason Daniel doesn't want anything to do with this song, along with the fact that they were probably sick of it once they were 20.

  • The reason why he doesnt play this song anymre not because he hates it but because he feels his band is a lot more than tomorrow.....he doesnt wanna be remembered by one song....as people tend to remember them by just that song....

  • @jedsebastian metalgay :)

  • wow.. thia is sad.

  • Does anyone know if there are live videos of "Tomorrow" where he plays the solo similar to on the studio version?

  • okay, its like everything like u said bout this video ant the song, but i just dont get this- young modern?u know, sb once said that when u really love and listen to some band its like when u r a fan of some sport tear- u love them and support them, go with them through all winnings and losings...and thats how things r with me silverchair/daniel.not like i forced myself to swallow everything they give, but i just like the things.

  • probly the last time he ever played this amazing song. i wish i was there.

  • what is up with frogstomp? I really don't like it....because they feel like they are copying pearl jam......freak show and neon ballroom i thnk they really find their sound

  • Frogstomp sounds nothing like Pearl Jam I think. Pure SilverChair. Freak show is them again at their purest, just heavier. Then Neon Ballroom is when he went through all those emotional problems.

  • why did they stop playing this song?

  • he's kinda embaraced now of the old songs..

i actually prefer their old song!

i dont know why he is ashamed of those songs

  • i think cause daniel can't sing the really high notes any more , specially the 'very hard to drink' part

  • Dude he can high notes more than ever now. Have you heard their newest album? I don't like it, but he can hit the notes.

  • this is heartbreaking :[

  • I wish I could wash away his tears : ( I've always loved this song good memories.....

  • I also love how this isn't played on acousitc guitar, gives it an almost unorthadox beauty, like the live performance of Cemetary in 1997 on Much Music.

  • I'm speechless. I always wanted to see a solo performance of this. I'm a lover of all of Silverchair's work, and I think Frogstomp deserves a bit more credit, when you hear how amazing their old stuff can sound years later. There's obvious maturity evergrowing when you listen to the albums chronologically, but this performance shows how even the early days can still sound as beautiful as today. It's weird hearing it like this almost gives it more of an emotional depth, one of Dan's finest.

  • Comment removed

  • i've never seen anything so heartbreaking. imagine being daniel feeling like he was at the time and remembering your formerly happy 14 year old self while playing the song for the last time. closing the door on that, the past. this is painful even to watch. poor daniel, i'm glad he moved on to better places with his life and he deserves to be happy.

  • Daniel needs to be independent no matter what music he had to make and to the people he had to deal with. i am also a musician like him. i know his feelings. i know also how to cope up with different music. like him, i had to create my own original music.

  • Best song ever. I can remember the firs time I heard this, about 12 years ago. I still rock out to it every time I hear it.

  • i think he's crying.....

  • i think he was really releaved because he always said he hated that song, but yeah, it must be really sad knowing its the last time you are playing a song that everyone likes.. and they are all singing along... very emotional moment..

  • dude i think so.

  • Anyone know when was the last time they performed this song live? This seems to be the most modern version of this song I can find. It seems they still played Ana's Song (at least up until 08, haven't seen any vids of 09 performances), why did they abandon this song?

  • cara, que tomorrow cheio de angústia =s

  • id blow someone to hear this live

  • On the DVD 'behind the great divide' which was shot in '07 Daniel sings a significant amount of Tomorrow but just with an accoustic guitar

    its pretty good!

  • i'll play it lol

  • i wish silverchair make a celebretation for the band's career and do a five-concert-show dedicating one concert to each album of the band to play it entirely

  • this song was great why they don't even play it today? fuck!

  • Johns play it sometimes, only the intro... As a joke, like if the song was a piece of shit. He really pisses me off nowadays.

  • yeah but that's an crap behavior, people like all the songs no just his gay songs of "young modern"

  • You're right. Silverchair is one my favorite bands, but I can't stand his behaviour.

Like I can't get into Young Modern. I love all their previous albums, but not Young Modern. Too much Dissociatives for my taste.

  • i couldnt agree more with u 2

  • @noiseadicted What's with all the "gay" comments? Just because something's not hard rock, it doesn't mean it's gay. People have broader tastes in music rather than just hard rock music and even if you don't like it, don't bash it. It pays off to appreciate all kinds of music.

  • Yeah. Daniel really needs to rein himself in. He's fucking way out there and totally pretentious and you'd be hard pressed to find ANYONE ON THE PLANET who still listens to Young Modern.

  • He owes none of us anything. Part of the reason he's so messed up is he literally gave everything for years trying to appease fans and make everyone like him. It's left him battered, bruised, and a shadow of his former self. He pretty much gave his life just to make entertain a bunch of people who couldn't give two shits about him, just so much as long as he continued to "rock out". I say he's earned the right to make whatever music he wants to at this point.

  • @sardoniclysane so your saying in a way he's like kurt cobain

  • @Beaver0305 Where i can see that "joke"?

  • that isn't true look for freak in 2007....but it's the same that nirvana with Smells.......they'd just hate that song

  • but nirvana even play smells... until 94 that he died

  • seems like -99 was the last year that they played most/almost all of their songs from FrogStomp and Freak Show ..

  • the last show they play songs of that records is the rock in rio 3 in 2001

  • there's vids on here of Israels son from 07

    it was fantastic to hear!

  • yeah but it's the only song they play of "frogstomp" and that's not fear for the fans

  • I completely agree. I would hate to go to a show now and hear ONLY songs off of one or 2 albums when they have 5 wonderful albums.

  • I understand Daniel wanting to move on from this song, but its just too good not to play. Its the reason they became so huge, you cant deny it. I think Diorama is their best work but this is still classic.

  • i think his songwriting as of lately in young modern has been like he's trying to escape and not be tied to anything.. he WANTS people to listen and go.. "what the fuck is this?!" so they can't really get an idea of what the bands sound is.. he's been saying it since freakshow and it's been increasing in momentum.. unfortunately Young Modern seems to lack much cohesion as an album as a result...

  • i really love this version.

  • why do fans act like the band should do what they want?

  • why did they have to turn into such fags...this is one of the bands that have ruined themselves because they change with the times, that is completely different to changing with time...absolutely awesome back then up until now

  • they don't follow time

    they grow up

just like you are supposed to do.

  • grow up my ass!!! they have turned into fag..and they hav fag music now too..if someone looked at a picture of them back then and listened to their music and compared to today they would not say it is the same band.. they have changed and it is not a good outcome

  • I don't reeally like the new album

    but I still respect it

it's still good music man,if you see those other bands, not going to say names now

but really they still are good

it's just a less great album than normally

you never know what they're next album may sound, you don't have to listen to the new stuff, nobody says you MUST listen to the new album, just liten to the old..it's not like those albums don't excist anymore man

relax, enjoy and don't be so mad about it ;)

  • im not saying they dont have the potential to make good music again...i just dont like the direction they are goin in

  • well,look

now you've said it in a complete other way than before.

    much much better!

and I agree, but as a fan,you can never know wich road they'll take.

just wait, and man this isn't freaking Tokio hotel! :p

  • and if I looked at a picture of you 14 years ago and a picture of you now you'd probably look different too. I'd hope so at least. Plenty of people think it's a good outcome so don't listen to the new stuff then if you hate it so much. I put on frogstomp, freak show, neon ballroom, diorama and young modern and hit shuffle. I could care less, it all flows to me as the same band and it's all incredible music.

  • great performance!!!

    Unplugged!!!

    Hehehehehehehehehehe!!!!

  • Why would they stop playing this song... it's how they started

  • cause they cant handle the truth

  • It sucks they dont play this song anymore.

Check out our bands cover of this.

  • Their best song...Sounds like they're putting it to rest, being all slow and shit. I love (loved) grunge Silverchair, WTF happened? Daniel has no voice during this performance. It's unfortunate for sure. New tunes are okay, at best. I was 10 or 11 when Tomorrow hit the airwaves, still one of my fave's...now I'm 23. I wish they would pay some respect to their old tunes which put them on the fu***ng map, I know most of their fans would be appreciative...

  • This is the best verison of Tomorrow

  • I wish they would still play songs from Frogstomp, even if they themselves dont care for the songs, fans still love them. Although Diorama and Neon Ballroom are unique in their own way, Frogstomp will always be their best work in my opinion.

  • I use to be pretty sentimental in these things too (frogstomp is not my fav chair album but of course I like it a lot) but they really were kids when they did it so I doubt that they could perform every song off of it in a way it really would work out... I think there's nothing as important as the artist's truly feeling what he/she is performing. performing something to please the fans can't work.

  • Wow, what a way to close a part of an era in their careers. Amazingly delicate and simple.

  • oh my that performance is really touching

tomorrow never was on the very top of my silverchair favorites, though I always found it cute, but I seemed to like it more, than I had realized...sounds like they putting it to sleep...

  • last performance ?

wasnt melbourne in 99 the last performance ?

that was there last gig in 99 wasnt it ??

  • honestly. wouldnt you get sick of playing a song you made when you were 14 at every gig after 5 years, i think its great how they are growing musically. silverchair pwns!

  • I wish they never scrapped this off their set list, this is a Silverchair Classic. Should be their closer of every show.

  • I asked Daniel the other night after the norfolk show if he'd ever do it live again and he said one day yes, but no time soon. he said he was tired of it when they recoded it but the label loved it, and then he had to perform it nightly for the next 6 years. so he said it's on at least a 10 year break

  • I agree because without this song there wouldn't be a Silverchair.

  • yup. its official. grunge is dead.

    unless you're in mudhoney.

  • im mudhoney then.

    grunge will forever live.

  • Eurgh they made this sound horrible! i hate silverchair now :(

  • how can u put one performance of a song on wether u like the band or not ?

  • Oh well. Some people can be very ungrateful. Without Tomorrow, these boys would be selling pizza or serving at 7-11s today.

  • I didnt know they had 7-11's in Australia LOL

  • does anyone have "anthem for the year 2000" from Electric Ballroom,????????

  • how do u murder ur best song?

  • not like this.

  • i get a thumbs down for sticking up for a great band ??

  • yes!

  • tell me why..

  • this song is haunting even with him by himself!!!! i love them and this song!

  • I actually kind of like the softer version better. In its own way.

  • i really DON'T miss this song...(but i miss 'cemetery'...) =(

  • Great song obv. Im a fan of this era very much so. Although I think its one thing if a band hates their single. But, to hate everything off of their CD that actually made them popular is kind of sad considering you know a lot of fans would want to hear those songs. Thats just me though. Glad their still around.

  • Same thing with Radiohead, they never play anything off pablo honey like creep.

  • i agree with the whole think of that era.. in the mid 90', i love this song, i think frogstomp is their best album too...

  • Its a shame that they dont play this song anymore and i didnt know this until now and im going to see them in 3 days. but i think anyone who says frogstomp was their best and their new stuff is rubish is ignorent. Frogstomp sounded to much like what was around in that era i.e nirvana. i love nirvana so thats how i got into silverchair but then they grew and they grew into something bigger and better.

  • I agree afhevh, I can't stand it when bands stop playin songs because they don't like. Do they ever think of their fans who do like it? I would pay anything to see them play tomorrow or anything from the early days, but sure as hell wouldnt pay a dime to see what they're putting out now.

  • Amen, kicker2514.

  • No it wasn't. My favourite album was Neon Ballroom, then Freakshow, then Frogstomp.

  • Daniel mentioned recently backstage in NYC that they have no plans to ever play anything from "Frogstomp" again. he hated most of those songs by the time the album came out in 1995 and hates them even more now.

  • That is too bad to hear what ClearEyed posted. Frogstomp was leagues above everything else they released.

  • lol clearly you've never heard of diorama and neon ballroom... two of the most unique albums from this generation.

  • I have neon ballroom and it doesn't touch frogstomp. I don't care about uniqueness, I care about quality.

  • daniel actually never liked Tomorrow. the only reason they did it is because of Ben lol.

  • It almost seems sad..

  • i dint think there was anything wrong with it lol

  • it sounds like he knew he wasn't going to play that song in the future.. it's sound is quite nostalgic

  • i actually think this version is amazing

  • yeah i do too.

    its real good !

  • Eh pit, ur the jackass who doesnt even like new chair music... SO stfu, im aware that he hated the song at this point, and id be sick of it myself, I cant sing, dont say I can... He did it w/o the band, which makes a difference... Just a bad vers, but when he doesnt even say "come back tomorrow!" and just repeats "fatboy" its annoying and very pitchy

  • i feel bad for him, this vers is so bad its almost embarrasing...

  • hah i don't think he cared if it was bad, he hated the song at that point. I'd like to see you do a better job singing the song.

  • this song fucked with daniel so much coz of the stupid fucking nirvana in pyjamas things, that im amazed he even played it as late as 99, read Jeff Apter's book A New Tomorrow. It will enlighten you as to why certain things are very rarely played anymore.

  • This is the first time Daniel played Tomorrow solo, for those of you who are wondering!

  • yeah he played it like this for most of the neon ballroom tour dates, including at the enmore in sydney, and i don't think they have played ever since, and never will!

  • wat sort os verison is this

  • Sort? Verison? What is your language?

  • There's no way in hell I'd even consider performing the shit I wrote when I was 14. And none of those songs were international hits. (Obviously.)

  • are you serious? Tomorrow.... not an international hit... it waslike there only huge international hit. Get your facts right.

  • I was referring to the songs that *I* wrote when I was fourteen. Not Silverchair's.

  • They could of played this song throughout the Diorama Ear would of been better

  • rest my ass, never forget where you came from. if it wasnt for this song these guys would be hunting wallabees somewhere downunder

  • oi! dont dis ausies, jeez were not a bunch of bogans! even if this song wasnt an international hit they probably would hav made it in Aus any way

  • thats some stupid shit you said dude

  • they suck. Frogstomp was there only good stuff and it came from the heads of 15 yr olds

  • Suck?? Man, your good music conception is very strange, I guess... Diorama is their best work ;)

  • 1999 was the last time they played this song. It's best to let it rest. They're just a different band these days...a much better band, in my opinion.

  • It's just like Radiohead and "Creep". Does Beck ever play "Loser" these days? They definitely didn't play "Tomorrow" when I saw them in 2002 and 2005.

  • You could be right. It might be the last time they ever play this song but I think (like most bands when they finish) they'll have a last big concert and they would have to play it.
