I think Indiana Jones and A Boy And His Blon is on purpose... I mean look how the title of A Boy And His Blob is written... the same as Indiana Jones... look it up on Google Images
You know there is a website called "TotallyLooksLike" where a person can upload 2 pictures of things, weather they're celebrities, people they know, inanimate objects or whatever that they think look similar or identical to eachother. Well i think there should be a site called "TotallySoundsLike" where you can upload 2 audio samples of songs or parts of songs that you think sould alike
In "Dick Barton Gallop": from 1:52 until 1:56, it remembered me the song of Cariot Carnage (the song used in the kart stage in Donkey Kong Country for SNES). XD
@wiigamer024 another one that sound like it is this one entitled los umbrellos -no tengo dinero look it up you can hear the similarities espcially in around the beginning
@Rothirsch Actually... it goes a bit deeper than that. There is a rock version called "Toccata" by the group Sky. The original arcade music of Gyruss sounds very similar to that Sky version, and when Parker Brothers made home versions for various systems, including the music, they gave credit to Bach in the instruction manual, but not to Sky. Their version also has changed a bit from the arcade (using fewer voices and sometimes leaving out the drums).
The Dick Barton / Monty on the Run comparison is a bit unfair.
That particular section has a similar rhythmical style and pattern - but the music is quite different.
And it is only that section. The Monty tune is a frenzied patchwork quilt of a song and changes all the time.
The others could be accused of being rip-offs - slightly modified tunes - but Hubbard's Monty is an original song where there might have been some "inspiration" to capture the same kind of "feel" as Dick Barton in places.
I wouldn't be shock seeing a lot of modern music being inspired by old school game music, Micheal Jackson's Beat it has a part in it that soundsl ike dr.wily theme
Did you know that there shoul be a third song that should be added towards the very end of the comparisons list? The Might and Magic Title Song and Canon in D Major also have a similar song in common. If anyone has ever heard of the group called Blues Traveler, then the beginning of the song called "The Hook (Will Bring you Back)" should also be on this list as well.
You could do this same exercise all day with many kinds of music from many time periods. Tonal music is based on the diatonic scale, which is capable of forming only a limited number of chord groups. These chord groups are used to construct pretty much all of music as we know it, so it is easy to find similar patterns everywhere.
Some of the examples above may have been deliberate parody, but most of them are certain to have been coincidence.
I have another suggestion, although it's unfortunately somewhat obscure. I was watching some of the first episodes of Petticoat Junction when I heard a song that sounded a LOT like the main Banjo Kazooie theme. I'm not sure what the song is called and I have no idea how you can get a hold of it. :/
On another note, the ending of Hydlide also sounds like the second motion of the Indiana Jones theme. Might wanna look into that one.
My favorite was the Teddy Bear's Picnic and Banjo-Kazooie similarity (and Banjo is a bear, so it makes sense).
What game is Teddy Bear's Picnic from?
Also, Porky's Theme from Mother 3 (the version from Super Smash Bros. Brawl would be better to use for a comparison) seems a bit similar to Habanera from the opera Carmen.
Hydlide theme brings a smile to my face because reminds me of avgn
