He spent a lot of coin on it back then, it has a massive equalizer on it. The center looks like a rack with all the equipment then the speaker cabinets to the sides are huge. Emo has been a musical genre since (hahaha) coincidentally enough, Jawbreaker. They were credited with starting Emotional Hardcore around 91 or so. They were never punk, but had obvious punk influences and sprung up across the bay with east-bay punk bands like crinpshrine, op ivy, filth, blatz, spitboy, shlong, screeching weasel, black fork, etc, etc. Since they didn't fit the definition of their punk bretheren, they birthed a new style of rock. Emo isn't people. It's music. Sorry.
