  • Stop the internet exchange of self-rightous coments. Can't everyone just enjoy a good song without trying to push things into obscurity. One Love

  • To me this is just good heartfelt music not influenced by trends. Isn't that enough?

  • There is always the guy who talks shit, the guy who call him out with his 26 thumbs up, and then there is the guy like me....THE OUTSIDER of music!

  • @jdankhead You must be very proud...

  • People who have to brag about how punk they are aren't. You want to be, and thats not what its all about, and never was. Punk was about the freedom of expression about the way you do things. Now it;s who is more hardcore, who is more Black Flag, and who is better. Your not Punk; your punks.

  • According to some site, these guys were the ones who started "emo". I say that's kinda crap to label music such as. And we joke that Schwarzenbach wears casual henlies.

  • @NiteOwlNation I'd say rites of spring were the first to garner that emo label. kinda reminded me of fusing the emotion of the cure and joy division with punk chords..that was awhile ago.

  • I hate genres and I think that anyone who bases what they listen to on the genre of a song is a fucking moron. Music is music enjoy it.

  • This record is a punx security blanket.

  • good song and lyrics

  • What people call "emo" today is emo. This is punk.

  • @TheAtmos77 What do you think emo is ? Emo was (and still is) EMOtive hardcore (punk). So yes, Jawbreaker is emo because they're punk but more emotional and more melodic play.

lol, what do you think emo is? The bands you see on televsion aren't emo, that's just marketing (mcr, panic at the disco, asking alexandria and others...are all just crap marketed towards teenagers)

  • @bakkermaarten007 Remember rites of spring?

  • how did this song get 3 dislikes?

  • Frank Iero sent me here! he has the most wicked taste in music ever

  • Tony Hawk sent me here.

  • lmfao the set your goals cover is shyt

  • Where do I find the physical copy of Bivouac and 24 Hour Revenge Therapy???

  • @metaltpunk09 I Own The First Pressing Both On Vinyl!!

  • @throwedlol thats the way to go vinyl fuck ipods mp3s computers and smartphones all tracking devices and i love my old pioneer and big ass speakers ask a dumbass kid today what a record is or show them one, they'l say is that a frisbe lol

  • @supermattweaver my dad has a pioneer set.. it has the record player, tape, and he says it was the first to offer CD in our area. He spent a lot of coin on it back then, it has a massive equalizer on it. The center looks like a rack with all the equipment then the speaker cabinets to the sides are huge. Thing is still, to this day, the best sounding stereo I have ever heard.

  • BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ... emo, hardcore, punk, metal ... BLAH BLAH BLAH. Appreciate good music instead of trying to figure out what genre it fits and how "hardcore" you are. Talk shit and write stupid comments. That's all you YouTubers do these days. If you're so annoyed, pick up an instrument, and get out there and do it yourself instead of talking shit. "You're not punk, and I'm telling everyone. Save your breath I never was one."

  • @TheyRThem Couldn't have said it any better myself.

  • @TheyRThem thank god you have enough sense every one is too caught up in how "punk" they are to actually make or even enjoy music

  • OH YEAH!-- and to respond to the topic of where "emo" came from-- RITES OF SPRING! Dischord Rechords, WDC-- Guy Picciotto who later was (is) in Fugazi... OHHHH MYYY GODDDDDD.... if ya'll haven't heard RITES OF SPRING's first and only seminal album.... like, holy fucking gutteral insane guitar, drum, screamin' deep crazy madness. Brendan Canty from Fugaznish is also on drums as a kid. GET THIS RECORD. Google that shit.

  • ukantwin-- most of your references are tight and correct-- but let's not forget-- UNFUN was a straight-up LA album. LA is not all the glitz and glam, its got its dirty sides too, and UNFUN was so LA.... which, of course i diuntil actually moving there from '02 to '07...) but there is dirt and desperation in UNFUN that changed to (to fine effect-- people grow up and get to define their own terms and choices-- but LA gave UNFUN a hot gutter effect that later, with 24 HR, became more cerebral.....

  • Jawbreaker are a punk band period!

  • I really want to listen to this atm, but I don't think my friend has speakers!! : | Wth

  • jawbreaker was punk as f*ck

  • Emo has been a musical genre since (hahaha) coincidentally enough, Jawbreaker. They were credited with starting Emotional Hardcore around 91 or so. They were never punk, but had obvious punk influences and sprung up across the bay with east-bay punk bands like crinpshrine, op ivy, filth, blatz, spitboy, shlong, screeching weasel, black fork, etc, etc. Since they didn't fit the definition of their punk bretheren, they birthed a new style of rock. Emo isn't people. It's music. Sorry.

  • @ukantwin7445

I agree with your general message, but emo definitely existed before Jawbreaker.

  • 1 person sux ass :3

  • 1 Person is a silly little dickhole.

  • Tooooooooooooll ! (:

  • we're getting older, but we're acting younger

we can be smarter, but it seems we're getting dumber

i have a picture, of you and me in brooklyn

on the porch it was raining, hey i remember that day

  • im against emos......i hate music genre labels.......and it makes me sad that someone would call this emo..... D: and emo isnt even a music genre.......its a lifestyle like being gay or being a vegeterian..........either way this song is kickass and probabbly half of these views are from me.........and the reason i said im against emos because there the ones who feel that they have too act like outsiders and misfits too get attention....well mostly about 98% of emos are...

  • @Squrtle14 Wow, you know fuck all about punk history and music in general. Shut your ignorant mouth.

  • @manka6 and why would you think im into punk?so who are you calling ignorant?.just because one feels that a person shouldnt be emo if they know nothing about what it is or even if they think its a type of music,so instead of trying too pick fights why dont you actually think?isnt all music emotional? that doesnt make it emo tho,emo is a redefined term by todays society that people believe they can actlike outsiders and like what they think is emo but notknow anything about music

  • @Squrtle14 Fucking look up how Emo started. It's a genre that spawned many seminal albums and interesting subgenres, and then suddenly in the 2000s somehow got applied to whiny pop rock dressed in black. Jawbreaker are part of the second wave of Emo. LEARN SHIT, READ SHIT, DON'T BE AN IDIOT.

  • @Squrtle14 Emo is a real genre (it describes emotionally charged hardcore punk bands from the 80s-90s. Like Rites of Spring, Embrace, etc.

  • @Squrtle14 well heres the thing with what you said. you mentioned that being emo is like being gay or vegetarian. but last i checked being gay isn't a choice. based on your logic being emo is like being black

  • @neoanarchobeatpunk we can all agree that emo is gay though hahaha that whole "fashion" is whats fucking up punk rock

  • My fave Emo band. :)

  • It's over... 9000!!!!!!

  • one of my favorite songs of all-time

  • set your goals did a super good cover of this.

  • I am so glad that this band went away and didn't get caught up in the mainstream bullshit... they were undoubtedly too good for that. nostalgia is the best way for such good music... because now we can just look back and say, "that was awesome," and everything else is detached. 2 Thumbs way the fuck up!

  • This and Rites of Spring started the Emo Punk Scene, IMO.

  • @katadantesux That's not opinion, that's fact.
