I'm not talking about smoking it though, I'm talking about extracting the essential oil from the buds and eating it. Everyone should watch a documentary called 'Run From the Cure'. Smoking has benefits but not as much medicinally as consuming this oil made from the plant with the same active ingredients. In the 70s the government did a study where they gave some rats huge tumors & then injected them with thc. It cured the cancer & the tumors went away. They then suppressed the study.
Run From the Cure is available to watch at this site by the way, just type the name into the search. Everything in the documentary about cannabis' healing abilities is backed up by clinical studies you can go look up with search engines. This stuff isn't highly publicized because the mainstream media is controlled by corporations & legalizing a plant that's essentially a cure-all would obliterate the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry because they can't patent it unlike their drugs.

I don't smoke pot ... but I agree that it should be legalized. Doing so would cut down on the number of people in our prisons, provide some tax relief, and relax a lot of uptight people. We had prohibition for alcohol and now we have it for MJ. If you think this program is strictly about intellectual debate---then you are barking up the wrong tree. This show is about getting ratings #1. The show also thrives with the contrast between intellectuals and comedians/rappers/actors etc. People want to hear their opinions as well as polictical analyst/politicians/writers etc. That is what makes the show special and different.

The question about marijuana should have been worded differently to the president. It should have said cannabis instead of marijuana because just pot to smoke wont have a big impact on the economy but industrial hemp would be very big. Marijuana legalization would help people with criminal law problems, and the gov would have more money to spend on other things than persecuting cannabis smokers.

Well it's not a conspiracy theory that the mainstream media themselves reported that Bin Laden had died at the end of 2001. & since then they've just pretended like that never happened and continued to release videos that are supposedly of him but that don't look like him and are provably fake. That people who've written about Bin Laden and followed what he was doing for years prior to 9-11 have even come out and said they think are fake. Mos doesn't do a good job of articulating any of this.

I don't smoke pot ... but I agree that it should be legalized. Doing so would cut down on the number of people in our prisons, provide some tax relief, and relax a lot of uptight people. We had prohibition for alcohol and now we have it for MJ. Time to rethink the strategy of prevention since it clearly doesn't work and it's costing us lots of money that could go to bigger and better things.

If you think this program is strictly about intellectual debate---then you are barking up the wrong tree. This show is about getting ratings #1. The show also thrives with the contrast between intellectuals and comedians/rappers/actors etc. People want to hear their opinions as well as polictical analyst/politicians/writers etc. That is what makes the show special and different.

I honestly didn't think that he was presenting any of his points well. He may have had reasons to say what he said, but, personally, it was the delivery that frustrated me.
I know a lot of people who respect him as an artist, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he's probably a smart guy. But he didn't come across well here.

The question about marijuana should have been worded differently to the president. It should have said cannabis instead of marijuana because just pot to smoke wont have a big impact on the economy but industrial hemp would be very big. Marijuana legalization would help people with criminal law problems, and the gov would have more money to spend on other things than persecuting cannabis smokers.

I don't care how it was worded, the President is backing down from it because he's self-conscious of his skin pigmentation. Thatcher was a war-monger, self-conscious of the bias against female world leaders, and Obama is becoming a prude, conscious of the bias against young black males.

I dont think hes self-conscious about that I think he knows that his skin color helped him more than it didnt help. The reason i said the ? was wrong is because it focused on smoking pot instead of industrial hemp. He knows there is a bias against people that smoke pot and politicians that would support that in government and society. It was easier for him to talk about abortion and make decisions about that than cannabis that is interesting to me why that is.

If "kissing American and British butt" means having a functioning federal republic, a thriving literary culture, not practicing suicide terrorism, and generally participating in civil society, then you're right, Indians are guilty of that charge. The Islamic states of the world have a long way to go in comparison.

Keep dreaming about your supposed civil society India. 600 million Indians live in slums and have worse living conditions than people in subsaharan Africa. Muslims in India are the poorest minority subject to discrimination. Hindu women are oppressed, routinely burnt alive with kerosene, and Hindi fetuses are aborted to the point of villages now having to import girls from other villages. India is a joke.

Oh--to a Hindu Indian, the systematic abuse of Hindu women is urban myth, eh? Just because India is Israel's new buttboy and is getting good press coverage doesn't mean that the realities on the ground of India being a joke and a failed state are not there. Keep dreaming, pal. At least most of the Arab and Muslim states FEED its people. India doesn't even do that for half a billion of its people.

I agree with Mos Def, I could care less where 'Osama bin laden' is. He's just a GUY. Big deal. There are more important things to focus on. And I'm with Bill on the pot question. It seemed like Obama just said the answer that the politicians and self righteous christian pricks wanted to hear, and didn't even take the time to look at the facts and THINK about it a little. Anyone who's thought about would see that legalizing it is WOULD help the economy.

+1 Mos def. I don't *care* about Iraq. I don't want to *hear* more about it. At this point so much disinformation has been pumped out about Iraq--why we're there, who they're associated with, how the war is going--that I don't believe anything the gov't or press says, either. And bin Laden is just a revenge-seeking (against the Saudis, not us) rich brat on youtube. They took planes with box-cutters. THAT'S IT. He HAS been mythologized far past his real power.

Obama came off as a total douche on the pot question, although I think the one poster hit it right on the head as to why pot has to be criminalized (keeping alive the prison-industrial complex).
