sears used to sell a router-crafter that would diamond cut spiral cut and through cut spirals etc. set up was a bitch and I do not remember having carbide bits. I had one and used it some. it was not for money making, that's for sure.
I think there was this guy Jacob Hopsphitzel or something who made the ultimate decorative
woodturning lathe. Check ot fine woodworking mag. that was 1600's no shit.For fine work
check out Grinling Gibbons,1600's, not too schlocky. see what's what...
The skill is designing. I have turned wood by hand and really don't want to do it for a living. This is my living. I appreciate the skills necessary to hand turn but it's just not what I want to do.
