  • i dont know about putting a twist in the belt to make it run true but ive seen it done and it seems to work well

  • @woodyate Putting a twist in a belt will reverse the direction. building a skid out of PT 6x6's (to give it weight) and then backing the tractor up a couple inches will increase belt tension. But, if the belts aren't slipping I wouldn't bother with any of that.

  • You know, these machines might be slower and less safe then chainsaws, BUT: A chainsaw is a machine made up out of a lot of delicate machined components, and different kinds of metal and plastic. You need separate mixed fuel to power it, and the chain needs continued oiling. Nice, as long as we still have this cheap and unlimited supply we have today. That might change, and then these old rugged machines will still run fine because it's so simply build. I love this stuff. :)

  • @Mueiwark

Check out "Buzz Saw 5" it came along way since this video. I can actually outcut my chainsaw with it on small stuff. I still have to use the chainsaw for the big stuff. It runs great now :)

  • @Mueiwark I don't know about being less safe than a chainsaw, have you ever had one kick back on you? if you never heard of a chainsaw being able to do that, and you're not prepared for it, it can take your leg "clean" off....

  • You got that blade sharpened yet? i just came in from a cuttin wood with mine and the TO30 Fergusson. When the blade is sharp you barely have to have it above and idle.

  • Nice saw I used them for years on the farm we had one bolted to the front of our farmall H and a bigger ripsaw like yours. Phil

  • Scary but cool! Can you sharpen that by hand?

  • i'm building one of these more just for something to do. Got a 30" blade off of eBay and bought a chain saw sharpener for $30 on sale. With a friend of mine we've designed a device to sharpen the blade

I'm holding off on really working on it until I get a better camera. My present to me this Christmas ;)

  • i think id find another way to cut wood..lmao

  • Looking to hook one up to my Farmall Super A, I must admit, it is a SCARY MACHINE....totally Unforgiving!!!!!!!!!

  • Where can i get one?

  • Hell fire and brimestone... he's cuttin wood now...... Did you warn you neghbors?

  • It is loud as hell! But if they mind, they are keeping it to themselves! :P

  • We had one of those when I was a kid. My dad hooked it up to the old Ford 8-N and used to cut up firewood with it..

  • This one needs alittle work. I think it will cut better one I get the blade sharpened and the rust off. I want to find a box blade with rippers next. Havnt got to use the tractor for pulling yet. Hope it will outperform an 8N. Its bigger, dont know it the engine is though.

  • the engine only has about 20hp so dont get your hopes up.

  • you know thats got to be the first time ive ever seen the belt pulley on a case vac used for something! cool! i like it!

  • Its funny how you find out things about equipment that you would never expect till you try it. What you guys cant see in the vid is that I am getting shocked through my gloves every time i touch the metal frame of the saw. That belt is acting like a giant static electricity generator. I actually had to run a wire from the frame and bury the other end in the ground to keep from getting shocked!

  • the belt is supposed to be loose

  • I hope so, I wasnt able to get it any tighter. Kinda spooky the way it flops around! Definately not OSHA approved! lol
