I bought one of these today 2/1/12. I got it for a steal. It is a 2011 model a guy bought and never played it. The paper is still on the pick guard. Fantastic sound, easy action. I got it with a hardshell case, a set of Elixr Strings and some picks for $459. I thought that was a fantastic deal. I played it thru a Genz Benz 160 Watt acoustic amp and it sounds awesome. What a great guitar.
@MrStratocaster1949 I don't haven an acoustic amp so i can't tell right away. But the pre-amp it has is very versatile, 3 band-EQ and notch Filter should work out very well. Action is marvellous, of course a wider neck than on a 6 string but still great to play.
I have a question... how is the action on the guitar? I played one in a Gitar Center a little while back and the action on the strings was just awful. They were sky high. So tell me what you think... Thanks
@jcrater18171 yes, 12 strings are always a little harder to play but not too much. if the strings are set "sky high" just ask the people in a guitar center to adjust it. If set up really well, that guitar is awesome to play. As for myself think (as said earlier) that it is harder to play than a 6 string but still it plays well.
@zerobertoballestra Com certeza o violão não é duro... A captação do som foi a pior forma que o cara do video poderia ter feito, então pelo som deste video não se pode concluir nada. Segundo q esse modelo da Takamine e primeira linha dos TOPs, por isso acredito que não seja "duro" como vc falou...

falsch :D Ich habe sie auf gut Glück gekauft und wurde für den Preis nicht enttäuscht. Ein paar kleine Verarbeitungsmängel gibt es, aber wie mehrfach erwähnt, für 555€ ein absolut großartiges Instrument. Zum Kauf bewegt hat mich in dem fall der name, ich war sehr überrascht das Takamine so günstige 12er baut, hatte mich vorher nie groß mit dem thema beschäftigt.
@anedufin87 hard question since i never played the ovation. i can really not say anything about it. would be best for you if you go to a guitar store and test both if they have them. I'm sorry
@fanashleygrenne what do you mean with straps? The knobs that you put the strap on? If that is what you wanted to know, they were already on the guitar so you don't have to apply them later. 2nd of all I do recommend this guitar, but you have to be aware that a 12 string is a lot more work to play than a 6 string. especially beginners with little experience may not be comfortable right away with these guitars.

@de4th75 i definitely do NOT regret buying it. It has some small minor issues but never the less it is awesome. Though, you should test it out of course, it the neck suits you and everything.
I hook my Gretsch Jumbo Rancher up to an MXR Chorus pedal with some gain and it almost sounds like a 12 string.
