@FoldedArt intelligent, eloquent response. It can, its basic humanity, we interned Japanese Citizens in ww2, violence against muslims spiked after 9/11. Its humanity, has nothing to do with culture or political system or race. Its basic humanity. Acept it or you deny all that which makes you akin to your brothers
When people think of Paul Rusesabagina, they think of Don Cheadle, when people think of Oskar Schindler, they think of Liam Neeson... I think he needs to speak out more, there is never over-spreading awareness about this subject. Remember, after the Holocaust hey said "never again" well it did happen again, in Armenia, and then in Rwanda, and many more African countries after that.
@misteeq64 they were Saving it for Obama ????? Who I guess they thought had did more than this man & many others have done in Saving Human Life & Showing what Humans should be for each other ?
This is a man with a noble spirit,a rigtheous among mens...May God bless him for wath he did...shame to the "Great Nations" they did nothing to help...
I learned about this massacre and genoside from this movie, nice movie and Paul is a real legend and hero of his nation. I understand Paul and Rwandans, because the story same happened with our nation - with azeris in Caucasis. Azeris also were killed by armenians, a lot of them, a lot of kids, women and old people

this just proves that any ordinary person can be a hero, u dont need to be strong, special, have good looks, non of that matters as long as you make the right decision for yourself and others things should go well
This man is a true hero! The whole world can learn from this one man. He exemplifies the true meaning of the word, HERO. God bless him and all who act upon the same instincts as he has. No matter who you are, no matter what race you come from, no matter what religion you practice, no matter what country you grew up in, you can get the satisfaction of keeping your fellow human beings alive by others who think otherwise.
Nothing to say ..... if I say U r a Brave man ...It is just a uttering . Man U r something beyond comparison or compliment.I can tell U one thing U will be in history up to the mankind exist as a everlasting star .I will say U r another Oskar Schindler a man behind the suffering Jews..God bless u..
I encourage you all to read his autobiography, "An Ordinary Man", after watching the movie, to see events in his perspective. In the book, he mentioned that the violence in the movie was in fact "toned down", saying that no one would be able to stomach what he saw during the genocide if it was shown on big screen. It is humbling to know that there will always exist good men who stand up to what is right and courageously say "NO" to evil even in the darkest of days.
I watched Hotel Rwanda in my World Cultures class, and I honestly have to say that was the best movie I have ever seen. Paul did a great thig by helping all those people it was amazing, I didnt know that things were so bad in Africa at that time, but I must say that whole thing was definately uneccessary! I am amazed at how one country can be exactly the same and also be completely different! Paul you did an amazing thing, and we honestly need more people like you. You have a great heart!
@Ptownzprincess17 If you like this movie i would recommend "Schindlers List" its a much more renown film. Said to be one the greatest of all time. Its about a man who opens a factory and allows Jews to work there saving them from death.
Paul you are the best, may God bless you and you did good deed for the sake of Humanity. We need more of you and less killers in this world....... peace
I have done studies on this hero. He is a humble man. He says that the 1,268 people he saved is equivalent to the amount of human lives that were extinguished in three hours. He regrets and wishes that he could have saved more. I think that because he did ALL that he could, he should be awarded with a Nobel Peace prize.
you...are an intelligent existence...you have earned the right to stand with Gandhi...to stand with Einstein...to walk with William Wallace...to sit with Patch Adams...to ascend unto a better world...your compassion for human beings has made you a god of history...a hero...a leader...and a savior...you are Rwanda's Tank man...who stood against the many...the one who stands in fame...and is to be loved by all generations...you...who had sacrificed so much for the few...
This is an amazing man and amazing story. I finally got to finish watching the movie after watching the beginning my freshman year of high school. It was hard to watch the rest of it, but that was reality and I had to man up to it. I'm glad it ended alright. How can people be so cruel. Hatred. Just pure hatred and insanity.
End of the day he among many others saved a lot of people. We should be proud of that fact, rather than point out minute details. What about the people who did shit all? Paid or not, it was worth saving those people.
Why do you think they had to pay Paul to get into the hotel? He needed that money to bribe the Hutu troops so they wouldn't kill the refugees in the Hotel!
what is Rusesabagina talking about? he said the story is the same today, except the killers have changed from hutu to tutsis! PLEASE WATCH WHAT YOU SAY PAUL RUSESABAGINA. why dont you start by going back to Rwanda? why wouldnt u do that? because RWANDESE KNOW THE REAL YOU. He saved lives for money! he was paid! dont blv everything u see on the media people. get to know the real story. hes not the hero he potrays
i actually know a girl, who said she was in that hotel. She said her father had to pay Paul to get into the hotel. Well it does it take much away still from what he did. He saved a lot life regardless.
@GHRepresent you are right. this man did help save lives, but he is overrated and overplayed.. hes is not the hero he potrays! trust me i know. ive been to rwanda, and the story there is totally different. dont believe everything hollywood throws at you. he did it for money. he never cared.
Kudos to President Kagame and his fellow countrymen!
It seems that some people are jealous of the positive direction that rwandans have taken but nothing is gonna distruct these beautiful people ever again.
This is one man that is a hero, and all should aspire to be like. He knew that he could die, and he did everything despite that. He in my mind is amongst the best people ever to exist.
Words cannot describe just how great of a man Paul Rusesabagina is. Many other people in his position would just leave when they got the chance and not do anything. But he was brave and stayed, putting his life in danger to help others. God bless him, and may there be more people like him in the future.
Yes this is a MAN I agree, may God Bless Him and all his family and loved ones. I really wish there were more people like him and I believe there are, but they are invisible, their good deeds are ar carried out without anybody seeing or hearing, however they are never less of a hero. Remember this well: it is not important how many people see that you help, it is only God who should keep record of it and he never forgets any of your sacrifices. Be a hero of your immediate environment and HELP!
The present president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, was put in place by the US and UK, to help facilitate their access to the Eastern DRC, and it's massive coltan, diamond and other mines.
This is how neocolonialism works. The same thing is going on in Darfur, because they have oil.
@xaxie1 It's a corrupt nation, and the massacre wasn't that long ago, Paul himself is only in his mid 50s. There are many alive who may have deep hatred and angst in them now.
You will always live in the hearts of those who were touche directly and indirectly by you.
