Hah, she's not the only one still using tapes. My bfs mother still does, they live with Gran who's a bit of a technophobe. And they only just had an outdoor ariel put in a couple of days ago!! They were using one sat on the desk. lol

I'm sure if she didn't live with her they'd be up to date by now.

I say sabotage the VCR, shove something in the slot or bend the scart cable pins etc. If it looks as though it breaks through old age then she cant get another and you can give her Tivo!

I love my Cyclone HD its 1.5Tb of 720p/1080i storage which is fully timeslip intergrated with my freesat HD, oh the joys of customer firmware, Ethernet cables and general awesomeness, who needs Sky+ or Sky HD let alone Virgin Media?

WTF is network TV? is that like Hulu but on your tv?

Well, if you have a TIVO, maybe you should SHOW her how it works. If you describe it to her, it sounds too complacated. She will have to learn sooner or later, that thing won't last forever.

omg! we had like 3 vcrs around the house that I would video things not only for us but my dad too! I've gone to the dvr system as has my dad. thank GOD.

Damn that so sounds like something I would do! I kept it down to 2 or 3 tapes per vcr etc. What's nice now is I can be dvr'ing 2 shows downstairs and go up to my office to watch other ones because there are some time slots that have a lot of good shows at the same time!

Toss the vcr! hell I can't even give away my vhs tape I have on e-bay!

hehe yeah they were pretty bad. not to mention the terrible quality of the picture and audio from those tapes too.
