Many demonize the Vikings for making the trade, but they took a well calculated chance. At the time, about all they needed was a good RB, so they went out and got the best one available.Non of the players they gave up where starters with the exception of Issac Holt. The draft picks they gave up, can't hold it againt them. By the time they developed ( IF ), maybe their window of opportunity is no longer there.Maybe the great players they had then are no longer in their prime.
As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I hated seeing Herschel in a Vikings uniform. But his trade helped America's Team win 3 Super Bowls in the 90's, so I learned to deal with it.
Man if the GBP only had had on offensive line in the late 80s' and only the had had anything resembling a defense in the early 80's. They had fairly decent QB'ing so Favre falling from the sky wasn't the determining factor of their ascent into the mid-90's. It was the building up of a sound defense and on offensive line (which produced both QB protection AND a running game). If Majkowski or Dickey had had the '96 team I am sure they would have prospered as well.
didn't get carries in minnasota also they didn't run the i formation ,wasted his talent and coach didn't want him there either so why trade for him ,,,,
Man. If only Herschel Walker could've done that more often. If he had a better O-line, he would have had more runs like that. His first year with the Eagles, he gets 1000 yards but he averaged more yards a carrie as a Viking. The Eagles just gave him the ball more.

Herschel was a beast.
That trade the Vikings made for him helped build Dallas.
Thanks for the blast from the past.
